Race Specifics:
  • The event MUST be run using your registered account
  • The use of the clutch that is found on the G25, G27, and other high end racing wheels is strictly prohibited.
  • Use of the Handbrake is Prohibited.
  • Red and White rumbles and tarmac are legal track. No other surfaces are track.

Steward's Comments:
This week we'll be visiting Spa. Last time we've been here was week 100 with the Castrol TOM's Supra JGTC race car. Since we've used a lot of nice handling race cars on this track, it is now time to unleash a true beast. Good luck taming this one!

Viewing your Time Splits:
  • You need to make sure you save the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay' (See pic below)
  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Home' and watch the replay from there using the 'Gallery' option.
  • Live timing monitor does not work properly, so we have to use a small trick to view splits.
  • While viewing your Replay, pause the lap by hitting start, before the end of the first sector.
  • While keeping the replay paused, advance the replay, using the forward arrow on the replay HUD. This will advance the replay to the end of the first sector. That's your T1 split, write it down.
  • Advance the replay again. That will show the lap to date time on the screen, this is your first and second sector time, added together.
  • To post your T1 Splits, simply post the lap to date times that are shown in the middle of the screen. Do not try to calculate the actual T2 split time, the Fetchbot will do that for you.

Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • At Least 2 Tires must be in contact with track at all times.

    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires in-line would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind, these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done, and we can read your mind.We will know.
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules

Thread rules:

The following information cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on Skype or via other private conversation methods):

  • Total Lap Time
  • Any information which can be used to infer your total laptime

The following information can be discussed in this thread :

  • The first 2 splits: T1 & T2 time
  • Any settings discussion
full

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 138 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):

  • Then attach your 'Best Lap'/'Ghost' replay in zip file form. Everyone submits a replay instead of listing a lap time.
  • You will need to put something in the message body in order to begin a conversation. It doesn't matter what you put, it can even be 1 letter or symbol. Nobody but the Fetchbot is going to see it, so it's sort of pointless, anyhow.
  • You will get an automated response within 15min, letting you know whether your submission was accepted, or if you had an error.
  • If you have an error, don't panic. Just review the instructions for submission and submit again. If you are having trouble and cannot figure it out, please post your question in the race thread.
  • Users can ask the bot for the current submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week XX Get Entry" and any text in the body.
  • Users can delete their submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week XX Remove Entry" and any text in the body.
  • If you want to submit multiple times in the week that is still not a problem. Just reply to the conversation with your new time and new replay. Fetchy always uses the last submitted time as the final one.
  • See this screenshot as an example on how to submit:

  • The deadline is Monday, September 12th 11:59pm GMT
  • If you are unsure of the deadline try this site

Why Use GMT?:

GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

Replay Checking:
  • Everyone is required to submit a replay for verification. This happens when you submit to the Fetchbot, and the replays will be visible in the leaderboard, once we've reached the event deadline
  • Participants will be expected to check each others' replays for cleanliness, for replays marked in the Results thread as (Check Needed)
  • Video replays are not accepted as a form of verification

Good luck, :gtpflag:

Why anyone would pay a mill for a car with no brakes :D I think it needs a parachute like a drag racer this thing :scared:

Here's a clean tiptoe opener for the splits board...

35.750
1'40.883

I'm super hesitant in this car, it's like the brakes work in lag and decelerate 1 sec after I press them... anyway there's loads left on this but not for me I reckon as it needs lots of patience which I'm sadly lacking :guilty: will try again before the deadline if I feel like driving on a knife edge

Good luck to all

I feel like I am tiptoeing around also but having a blast at the same time

Yeah it's fun but frustrating ;) changed my mind and went back for more...

35.621
1'40.555

Still lots left as I seen a few 35.4's, It's so easy to overcook it with this car... btw BB 10/10 that's how much I like them :P

It's pretty cool in cockpit view as it's a central seater... wasn't far off in that view and I never drive incar but this seems like flying a plane just very low

Cool combo 👍
I am 3rd person not in AC though

Full manual w/ clutch for 10 laps. Car is beautiful, sound is luscious, especially when using the clutch, gives good buttkicker, that damnable dynamic air brake causes it to understeer horribly under braking, then, when it drops and you get on the gas, it wants to swap nose for tail, just a tad, tranny has some seriously tall gears.

I ran this session on the non weather track so gotta remember to use the other spa.

37.080
66.150

Gonna see how I go with the flappy paddles now. After a few laps I'm planning to move the BB around a bit. Gotta see if it will help that brake understeer.

Uhm did you actually get a 1'06.xxx for T2? If you did well dang Dragon whisky you got one fast car and your one fast driver. That whisky really got you faster

Hi,

omg, what a car. T1 thirtysevenpointsomething.

One question: Is the light green painted tarmac, i.e. at the outside of the double lefthander pouhon, legal track?

D.

I believe not. I remember running the supra here and I had a question like that because I had a fast lap and when on green but not on rumble strip and it was off track so I went back and got a clean faster lap back then. I'm thinking no. Just aim for keeping at least 2 tires on rumble /on track at all times unless the stewards say so that it's legal 👍

You do know the use of clutch is not allowed, right?

Got a couple questions for youse guys.

What time of day are you running at?

What weather variables do you set?

What gear are ya'll using to get up the hill?

You do know the use of clutch is not allowed, right?
Yes. Those were just for fun reference laps. Would be a bit silly to submit that lap anyway, since I'm always a second +- slower on full manual. Jammin' gears Is much more challenging than the paddles. Adds two more things to do right, every shift.

I just have the time and weather at 0 or whatever the stock settings were.

At the bottom of the hill you'll be in 4th and what I do is right at the bottom shift down to 3rd, quickly light tap the brakes to get it to rotate and hammer down and back up to 4th. You may have to throttle control it up if your not comfortable yet

Had a 1'39.xxx for T2 but this lap beat it

35.450
1'40.084

Still a lot of time to find. Have some cleaning up to do in T2 so I'll get back at this combo tomorrow!

Comfortable? If you're comfortable going up the hill you ain't going fast enough. :P ;) You should be getting so much "pucker" you'll think yer head oughta be caving in. :D
If ya ain't never had that kinda pucker, you just ain't been livin'. 'Course, chasin' that level of pucker IRL could lead to serious injury or death.

I ran a 101.182 into T2 with a clean S2 & S3 but the damn first sector went read by inches on a 35.815. Stupid Radillion anyway.

Phish, you change the BB at all?
Tried the BB at 3/8, 2/9 (which sucked so bad I only ran 5 laps with it) and now I've got it set to 3/10 and will probably bump the front up to 4 or 5. Just can't get this sexy pig slowed down quick enough. Half the time the fronts just won't stick, at all, no matter how fast I'm going.

I've been setting the time of day at 10:00am. Leave everything else as is. Next runs I do I'll leave the ToD alone and see what I can do.

I've tried the hill as you describe, mostly. For some reason I am not turning in soon enough for the right, then I'm screwed for Radillion, no matter which gear I use going in.

Worst ever red lap rate too. 54%

 I shouldn't say comfortable, I should say I don't know. Uhmm manageable? Feeling it going fast? Livin on the edge of the track.

I'm running a BB of 10/10 and it works nicely for me. Maybe it's just me but if you brake right around the right spot and slowly let off the brake, the car in a way rotates a little but right when you get off the brake ex. 1st corner you better have at least 50% gas and eventually up to 100%.

For that hill it takes awhile to figure out. Took me awhile, but when you shift to third tap brake make sure to get right back on the gas I found that when I get a little gas back on it it won't slide as much and you get a smooth exist. Not sure if that helps you but hopefully it does.
