Are there any differences between the silver edition and the normal one?

I think you are guarantied a newer spec PS2 (not much difference, but some faults ironed out).
Apart from that, the only extra is you get an extra 'pad for £10 less than usual. :D
 
Only minor touchups, like Quieter Fans, Built in Infrared Connector and a newer model spec.
I think they took away the i-link port?
 
I have a Satin Silver PS2..

my friends said they noticed it loads faster... dunno..

and when i had it chipped they told me the motherboard inside was diff then the black one and a little more difficult to work on...

i have no idea what the i-Link port looks like tho.. does it use the optical out connection?

No, it's a funny shapped connector on the front in the blue square with the two USB ports. I believe it is even labeled i.Link. Newer PS2 consoles are said to not have it, as Sony has dropped it from the format in favor of ethernet.
