So this is the latest edition, just arrived today (but I'm interstate for work)...

Running the SLI-Pro and the custom modular design so that it can be raised for the T500 F1 wheel and lowered for the GT rim. Can't wait to fit it..

The guys at Simracinghardware were fantastic..! I can not recommend them enough - excellent communication, flexible and great to deal with considering we're on the other side of the globe..!

p.s. One for my brother and other for a close mate...

When buying overseas I try and get as many as possible to save on shipping, this worked out great!

Some recent pics after a big clean up of the garage...

My new customised platform arrived for the d-box. This one will have cable management through it and will be either carpeted or painted - not sure yet.

My Dad's back from overseas so got him working on a bracket to stop the wobble and use it as a mount for my TH8-RS (handbrake) and tossing up whether to get the DSD Bent shifter (I need convincing).

Just arrived and fitted but not set up is the simracinghardware adjustable T500 static sliding SLI-Pro mount.

Mate get the bloody shifter already!!!! You will not regret it 👍

This rig looks epic :) It looks like it probably growls when it starts up :nervous:
Love the seat, really fancy one myself but I just put in an OMP a month ago :s

Love that big server case.

Selby Acoustics - the only case I could find that was fully ventilated. I love the fact I can just leave it locked and get on with it.

looking really sweet Fred, have you start using the SLI-PRO?

Not yet mate, not sure if you noticed in the pic my Pioneer receiver is missing - it's gone in for repair, had some error codes coming up and with these whiz bang fancy all in one units meant it's the centre hub of EVERYTHING, so now im only racing PS3 with my headphones.. 1 more week I think then I'm back!

The seat is what drew me to the gamepod. I last minute upgraded to CF, and yes it's overkill - BUT now I find myself about to order a Sparco EVO 3 - the Cobra 'wings' for a taller (and bigger) bloke means that my shoulder width is in the curved bit, so I'm squashed/cramped up top.. Shame cause I love this seat..

hey Marcus - interested in a CF Cobra seat ? 👍

Specialist request, hoping someone from the gtplanet community can assist.

I'd like to put illuminated ON/OFF switches into the side of the timber platform. These would power the two control modules for the d-box. They are run by normal IEC power connectors (same as back of PC).

Reason: if it's illuminated I won't forget to switch them off once I've finished racing..

Any ideas - the easiest way is to get a nice black 4-port powerboard with individual on/off, but I'm hoping for a little customisation... If it's a pain then I'll pass, but if it's straight forward then I'm keen..

Thanks..!

Nope its been on for a year in the corner of my office. I just unplugged it last night LOL. Everything is boxed up for my move, just forgot to turn it off.

As for tuning, I try and do one game and concentrate on that game. I'll start the game, check the settings and how they feel, back out, fine tune, rinse repeat. It may take a couple of hour per game to tune it. I try to think about the type of game I'm playing. An F1 game forces are much more violent than GT game. I also try and take into consideration my own driving, forces, feelings. Thats the best way I can explain it. I don't go overboard on forces, I try to make it as realistic as possible. While I haven't been in an F1 car I have been in a skip barber car and let me tell you, compared to a normal car the forces are brutal. LOL

Hope that helps. Remember if realism is what you're after full tilt forces are always needed. Your brain supplies over half of what you need. :)

So the DSD Shifter is ordered, placed some orders now for the Handbrake mod from itrdc5r & GTEYE for the TH8-RS shifter and this below just arrived:

More importantly, I'm quite happy that my rig is complimented by many of the people I have met and been recommended here on GTPLANET ..!

So with my Dad back (retired welder) let the customisation begin..

Installed the itrdc5r handbrake plate with the GTEYE spring. Going to use some of my carbon fibre vinyl or just spray it black (yet to decide).

Over the weekend Dad came with a brace and mount. The brace is to give the GamePod GT2 the stability in the steering mount it deserves. I've only run one on the left as entry and exit is on the right. A second would make it rock solid but the one piece of angle is about 98% rigid and is exactly what was needed. The mount will come off and customised again once the DSD shifter arrives then painted black to suit.

The new d-box platform is coming along nicely, sanded and holes drilled for cable management. Undercoat and a lick of paint this weekend should see it complete in the coming weeks.

Spent the weekend painting the new platform and migrating everything over. Fully cable managed underneath, final steps are a new bracket that's been made to fit the DSD Sequential Bent rod Shifter.. Also painted the d-box brackets black - now the fun part of the external cable management... :yuck:

Also, selling my Carbon Fibre seat if anyone local is interested.

Okay, all done only thing waiting on now is the DSD Adaptor to mount my Sparco P310 wheel. Apart from that I will be looking at a triple solution but that's in the works and the garage will need upgrading before that happens.

Love the DSD Sequential Shifter..! The Bent rod makes it easier to access the handbrake and keeping them close together for easy reach. Also found it right there when driving at hand so glad I got it bent!

And well my new Harness, while you may laugh it makes a huge difference with a motion cockpit.

Here's the pics...

And to give you an idea of the mount and access to shifters..

Nice! :)

I agree about the harness. I have a five-point version and it's bolted to the stationary baseframe so as the seat moves forward under braking etc, the harness tightens up 👍

I want a room like yours the_greeze..!!!

I was originally looking for a 5/6 point harness from reading in your thread - but they didnt have black in stock - I wish I waited as I know now what you meant by it riding up - for now I have my belly keeping it down but I think I might buy the additional crutch strap to make it a 6 point as the buckle allows for it.

Only two challenges now:

Having trouble with all my usb additions making it work - RMK Button box & DSD shifter don't want to play together so for now it's one or the other plus the TH8RS & SLI-Pro all up PC not happy with too many peripherals...

& the FFB (realfeel) in rFactor - CLIFFO_83 been a great help but 20 minutes racing and I feel like I've raced a 2 hour enduro, like all PC racing - tweak tweak tweak... will get there...

listen to me complaining aye...

rFactor only allows 3 controllers to be used and a few other games do too except for iRacing, which has unlimited input options.

If you want to run more than 3 inputs in rFactor you need a program called xpadder, you can map your shifter or button box as keyboard keys and it tricks the pc.

My DSD button box is recognized as 2 controller inputs in rFactor!! Maybe yours is also

As for realfeel, its trial and error :)

My DSD T500 adaptor arrived today, fitted perfectly, Sparco P310 wheel - what a difference to the stock wheel.

Anyway, a couple of pics...

Looking good mate 👍

I dont know about you, but I can take corners much easier with the P310 compared to the stock wheel..

I would agree with you mate. I'm more comfortable with this wheel, feels lighter and I find I can point it in and control the power out of the corner much better.

I'm doing a lot of AI races before going online because I need to get the diving in mentality out of me and treat the AI like real people. For so many years I've played console racing and really need to be patient for my opportunity to pass and not do a Romain Grosjean...
