Came across this one recently:

"Basically

PD/Sony is very aware of GT being what it is. That's done on purpose.

For some time now, Sony has been doing this thing where they release very pretty games that are as shallow as a puddle. They've done this since right around the ps3 era started. Why? Because it's popular, and it sells to the hyper-casuals that now make up the bulk of the market.

GT was built this same way. Why would they ever put the cost/time into producing a proper GT when they can **** out whatver GT7 is, and it receives nothing but praise?

PD/Sony knew the GT fanbase was divided between people who wanted a proper game, and people who would play anything with a GT logo on it. So what was the solution? Push everyone who wanted a proper game out. And they've effectively done this - no one who I used to play sport with, or early in GT7, plays GT anymore. Numerous large leagues Basically closed their doors, or jumped games, because GT's servers were useless for 4 months following release. The career mode and SP made sure no one with 3 brain cells to click together stayed playing it. Everything was designed to turn hyper casual . PD also knows that in the youtube/social media circles, GT praise got more clicks than GT critiques.

And once all that's done, what do you do? You double down on the marketing. August of '22 was when tons of very obvious shill accounts started popping up. There's about 10 of them that float around here, around all the sim racing subs comparing everything to GT, and they all have YT channels where they post Basically nonsense about GT. To keep the fans nice and complacent during this, PD would skim by on the minimal amount of work needed, occasionally putting a classic GT fan car in an update.

That's why we only got larger updates occasionally - when PD saw engagement was dropping they go "look! Escudo!". It doesn't matter that in GT7 the escudo has no events or place to race. PD knows that adding the escudo in makes a ton of players go "DURRRR GT NOSTALGIA". They did this same thing with the event directory in spec II. They made it look like older GT games, and sure enough, these subs were full of "DURR EVENT DIRECTORY MAKES IT PLAY JUST LIKE CLASSIC GT"

This trend continued until forza came out. To offset forza's release, PD dropped Spec II. On top of this, when Forza came out with problems, over a dozen youtube channels came out of the woodwork immediately with the same "GT vs Forza" footage, usually biased towards GT and refusing to show any of its weak points. These videos have no narration. On top of that, some of the more clearly paid youtubers, like RandomCallsign, started doubling down on GT content. GT also released their LFA/Larry Chen video around this time.

The entire point of PD/Sony doing all this, has been to re-establish the GT franchise in the form of whatever GT7 is. That way, GT games will require far less work to make, but will still turn profits among sony's captured hyper casual market. They've ensured this thru playerbase and social media manipulation, and making sure that the vast majority of what people see about GT is positive. It's why despite GT's massive amount of issues, it only has one person writing critiques of it - roflwaffle. And everytime his videos are posted on socials, the shill accounts come out of thr works and claim its "fake, lies, low IQ content" etc. All this is to make sure that people buy GT7 thinking they're getting some sort of car culture mega simulator. Even the Sport mode stuff has false advertising - Igor Fraga still gets talked about as if GT created his racing career, when he was racing before Sport, and the movie was literally nothing but lies, from the physics to the game used.

All of this is to create a new era for GT where it can become part of sony's pretty game slop trough. Pour it right in there with the rest of the movie game nonsense and the casuals come to eat, sony makes bank and another nail gets nailed into the gaming industry's coffin.
