Game pad pro on ZSNES

I have a ZNES super nintendo emulator and I use a gravis gamepad pro. When I try and run the roms, some of them work fine but others dont work correctly. i.e. super mario all stars- when I try to play super mario the controller wont work but when i try to play the lost levels it works fine. Does anybody know what is going on?

Have you tried other controllers?

I was thinking that too, im gonna take back the pad today and exchange it.
