One of the most successful pickup designs in history, in my opinion. It was way ahead of it's time with it's "cab-forward" type styling, which made the Ram look modern, but not over-styled or ugly. Without a doubt, it's the most successful generation of the Ram, as it proved Dodge really could give the F150 and C/K a run for their money; this generation exponentially increased Ram's market share. My great grandpa (who now owns a 2013 Ram Longhorn) had one of these when I was little and I've always remembered liking how it looked.

But... as most pickups are, especially big fat 'Murican ones, it's not cool. Today, these are mostly driven by blue-collar manual labor types as well as hillbilly rednecks, whom are quite far from cool. The hype around the Cummins engine doesn't help, either.

One of the last, if not the last actual good looking American pickup trucks ever made before luxury, comfort, and tacky chrome took over the "work truck" ethic.

Transmission issues and poor dashboard build quality brings down it's coolness however though the beefy V10 model is something to be reckoned with.

Meh

I’ve always thought this was the most attractive Ram made. And it could be had with a V10. Go on and laugh, I voted SZ.

Fun fact, CHP had some of these for commercial vehicle enforcement.

This is one of the things that I think when someone says 'MURICA :P
I want to gave it a Meh, but there's the V10 option which I can't find its purpose (great amount of torque maybe?), and OK, I know it's different in the U.S, but here in Italy it's so out of its element, that everyone will notice it and everyone will wonder if the person who drives it is a cowboy or something stereotypically american and everyone is intrigued about the truck.
So I'll gave it a very low cool because at least here it's something that you will not see very often.

British vote incoming: this trerk is seriously uncool. Huge and impractical.

I'd still have one if it was 30 years older than this monstrosity.

Found this, so I figured I'd share it here. This was originally supposed to be the design of the 2nd-gen Ram in 1991, but was shot down by the board because "it looked like a mashup of every other truck".

It looks like a longer Dakota with a hint of F150 thrown in. Not a fan.

I'm confident in thinking that the Ram Van took heavy design cues from that front end.
