Daytona Speedway Combo Competition.


Daytona Speedway,some love it ,some hate it

Now there is a challenge for you all:

Beat my idea of a Suzuki Swift Time Trail on the oval :D



How do you compete?

- Invent a combo on Daytona Speedway which will suit for a WRS Race Week

- Use your imagination to get a surprisingly and interesting race.

- Post in this thread a detailed write up about the combo


Who will win?

- The most interesting combo will be chosen by the OLR Team

What is the prize?

- You will be the WRS Steward for one week with your own race.

Time schedule:

- The Daytona Oval Week is planned for GTP_WRS Week 12.

- The winner will be informed by PM on 17 January.

Nice ... first idea was to create an online 2-team race where 2 participants could cooperate (drafting of punting) for 1 of both to create a fastest set of laps. Unfortunately you cannot save any replays from online races, so that one lived rather shortly :)

Next best combo would be this:

A1 event
car: Jaguar XK Coupe '06
Mode = Pro
Tuning = Free

You have to win the race (duh!) and try to make best use of opponent draft.

Is that something?

Standard Clean OLR Rules:

* 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
* tarmac below / (on left side of) solid yellow line not race track
* run-off areas are not part of the track
* no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
* if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
* no hybrids
* no cheating of any kind,these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done,and we can read your mind.We will know.
* nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
* save your replay

Thread rules:

The following information cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on MSN or via other private conversation methods):

* Total race time
* Any of the 5 slower lap times
* Any information which can be used to infer a total race time

The following information can be discussed in this thread :

* Fasted Lap time
* Any settings discussion.

The posting of settings is encouraged, but it's certainly not mandatory. We respect anyone wishing not to post settings, so please do not publicly ask someone to post their settings, they will if they want to.

It is however expected for fasted lap time to be posted if you're taking part.

Rules: Normal lap of the speedway but...... The lap must include the Bus Stop Chicane from the Daytona Road Course :)

Here is my idea :sly:.

Track: Daytona Speedway
Type: Time Trail
Car: To be discussed, I'm initially thinking FWD and low powered.
Physics: Pro
Tyres: S2
The Rule: Standard OLR rules apply and you must drive using the Blue and Red driving line and keep 2 wheels either side of it at all times. You must have the car positioned so that the Blue and Red driving line is between 2 wheels when you start the lap and you must keep the Blue and Red driving line between 2 wheels all the way around the lap to keep it valid. The posting of splits is allowed but the final lap time is not allowed to be posted. The fastest time wins 👍


Edit: Just tried this idea with the Suzuki Cappuccino '95 and it's a little trickier than I originally thought :sly:

Tyres: front S3 rear N3 (well you have to make Daytona oval fun somehow :P)
Rules: go for the fastest time possible whilst keeping within the confines of the track. no wall/AI touches of course

This is Daytona Speedway with a little twist added to it. :)

Type: Arcade/Single Race
AI level: 90 (yes,this is mandatory)
AI tyres: R3 (yes, this is mandatory)
No. of laps: 3
Physics: Professional
All other settings are optional

Car
Car: Corvette Z06/Tuned
Maximum PP limit: 800PP
All tuning settings are optional.

Rules
Standard OLR rules
No touches whatsoever (AI, walls)
Yellow line is track boundary

Twist
Cars in an even position must be passed on the left, cars in an odd position must be passed on the right. In other words: you must pass the next car on the right if you are in an even position (e.g. #8) and on the left if you are in an odd position (e.g. #7).

If a car is passed on the wrong side, the pass is deemed illegal. Illegal passes mean disqualification.

Sounds easy? It's not, especially while doing it cleanly and several cars grouped together in a draft. ;)

Week 12 is running now and I wanted to thank all guys who made a combo for Daytona.

A congrats to GTP_Nuclearfire and his chosen combo.:cheers:

Overall a well thought combo ,fun to race and interesting by the choice of 3 different N-tires.

The extra part of track (Jack),the red/blue line (GTP_Donk) and the even/oneven overtaking (NLxArosa) were innovative combo's.👍
Unfortunately didn't made it to the end but those ideas might come in handy in future races.

Seeing you guys are full with good ideas for combo's ,I want to take the opportunity to point out the GTP_WRS suggestion box.

Every suggestion will be serious tested.:)
