So I got the 1.05 patch and checked out the Seasonal events section. No GT Academy in the UK yet, but instead there are three A-Spec events - Bonus Race No. 1, Time Trial No. 1 and Drift Trial No. 1.
5 different 5-lap races with a rolling start from last place.
I've only done the Bonus Race event so far, but it's the most fun with GT5 yet 👍 👍 👍
The race that stood out was the Mazda RX-7 GT-X '90. Undriveable car - couldn't keep pace, let alone catch anyone. And because of the restrictions, you can't just resort to better tyres / reduced weight / increased HP like you usually can.
Instead, the only options you have to play with are the LSD and suspension. So I spend some time doing this and, lo and behold, I get the car running on rails. Love it now!
Great idea - first event to show the impact careful tuning can make.
The other races are totally different. The Nissan GT-R race has an excellent sense of speed, no tuning needed. The Honda CR-Z '10 race is low-powered but well-balanced.
