Suggestion: Alerts for news article comments

I would like this too. While I don't post on news articles that often anymore, I would like them. It would make discussions easier, even though we have the forums.

I've lost count of how many times I've left a comment on a news article, forgot I left it, and come back to several replies.

It would be nice to be alerted, when someone comments on your comment. Is that possible with the site software?

It would be great, but, unfortunately, it's not possible, as the news blog and forums run on entirely different software platforms, loosely tied together behind the scenes with custom code.

Really, though, the blog's comment system is primitive and antiquated compared to our forums, and my ultimate goal is to have each article's comments hosted here within dedicated threads, making all of our regular features available in article discussions.
