On thursday nights, we use to organize some clio cup races with my friends. We all use the same car with the same setup : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/tunes/clio-cup-clio-rs-11.496/

The room is public and its title is "[GTPLANET] Clio Cup - Tune 496". Last night we met new friends and they've race with us for a couple of hours even if they didn't have the same clio as us. When everybody went to sleep I said to the new guys to go on www.gtplanet.net and find the tune 496 in order to setup the exact same car for next week.

As a :gtpflag:user, I know that I can add an "id" to the "https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/tunes/" url. In my case that would do https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/tunes/496 and it works like a charm .

The problem is that it's not an easy thing to explain. Perhaps add an "id section" in the Tune Finder could be a good addiction for people who wants to find a tune quickly ? Especially for people that don't know gtplanet yet. What do you guys think ?

I'm not sure how useful this would be; I presume most visitors are not aware of what the tune ID is, nor how to identify it in the URL. It also seems that sharing a specific tune URL would be faster than describing the process of using the tune search engine to search for a specific ID.

Never got around to visiting the new tuning section, it's pretty nifty!

Quick question, since each tune is matched with an ID (which is pretty cool) wouldn't it make sense for this page to contain a search by ID field? It would be a nice addition to the search feature regardless of poumpoum's specific request I think.

To echo my previous message, I'm not sure how useful that would be. The ID number is arbitrary, and provides no information about the tune itself. Browser bookmarks and direct URLs provide a more useable way to reference specific tunes than the ID numbers.

This is what I use on forums but when you meet people on a public room this is where it's complicated to share a full url for a tune.... I thought that a simple and quick acces to a tune could be a good way to promote gtplanet for people that don't know the website yet. Currently you need to select the brand, the exact car model and then find the one from the user you've met on the public room... I think that a lot of people give up before they reach the tune they wanted.

But I also understand that this feature would be useful to only a really small percentage of the community. It was just a suggestion :)
