EDIT:scroll down to post number 6 for the new and improved settings.

2005 Ford mustang GT - Okay, time for me to play with an American car.

With 550+ hp, I can keep up with the computer driving the Ford GT le mans spec II. Does sub 7 min laps at nur.

sub sevens with stang '05? nice.. my RS6 avant did 7'01,xx at nur, so with little tweaking i think it could do the same.. though, it's fully modded and such.. but, who wouldn't like to have an estate that goes as fast as McLaren F1? :dopey:

but, i think I shall play with the new mustang too.. and I really do hope that it's better to drive in GT4 than it was in NFSU2..

well, I tuned it fully, to 665 hp, and buyed everything except nos, and my Stig can't squeeze lower times than 07'05,889... :( and I tried your settings as well..

Ford Mustang GT 2005

Okay, I was unsatisified with my previous settings for the mustang. So I retuned it a bit. Previously, the best time I could manage was 6:54 at Nur. These settings shaved some massive time off. The car turns into a turn very fast under late braking. Brake deep going into the apex and the car will just dart into the turn:

spring 9.0 10.3
rideheight 86 86
bound 9 8
rebound 2 1
camber 2.5 1.0
toe -1 0
sway 1 3

downforce 30 30
tcs 1 (this limits wheelspin just the right amount)

Full custom diff
init 5
acc 30
dec 5

Medium race tires
Stage 3 weight reduction
brake upgrade
With 665 hp

6 min 43 sec at Nur with my strictly Bronze medal skill level =)

Why does everyone rip on the new Stang?
So many poeple sayin it's too slow or weak.
Bite me, how many 4 passengers cars have an msrp of $25,000
and come with a 500 watt stereo, 5 speed, 300 hp, leather seats, color chancgin guages and handle like a dream?

And have you seen the next gen cobra?
it's official name is
Shelby Cobra GT500
450+ hp (closer to 500 says Shelby)
450 ftlbs of torque
full leather interior
solid rear axle ( but perfectly tuned! and will outhandle a C6 vette)
For under $40,000

Can't wait to see the vette boys crying "Well if my LS2/LS6 had a blower......."
Can't wait for the next gt so I can drive one! Oh wait I'm actulay selling my 68 GT to get one of the new Cobras when the come....
So I'll be able to tell you all about how much GT5 botches that car....
Cuz lets face it, American cars are alot better than GT makes them out to be....
Ever driven a 2005 Mustang GT? That car is just fun to drive.
Any how I will be tryin these settings out myself in awhile. Always eager to find some good settings for the Stang....

ppl just assume that since it doesn't have ALL the latest suspension technology then it just suck. but they are wrong, VERY VERY wrong.

btw, what's the setting for the brake controller?

It probably all comes down to the stereotypical view of American cars. Apart from things like the Vette and S7 many people (including me) believe that American cars, in general, handle like cr@p.

But what you have to realise is that it takes time for a new car to accepted into the "I'm american but can still take bends" category.

American cars don't handle like crap :( You make me feel bad. The ford GT is a great handling car , you just have to get used to the brakes. But I kind of understand you because I don't see the reason why put 20k into a civic , and then say its faster than a STOCK VETTE?

[ but can still take bends" category.[/QUOTE]

The Bends... what an incredible album. How about you guys keep making great music and we will make great cars, ok?

In real life, it doesn't handle like crap. In this game it does.

Comparing the mustang to a C6 or even a C5 is a bit unrealistic. Maybe in a straight line, but the Z06 surpasses many of the exotics in terms of road course times.

The new 2005 is a good car in real life, it isn't quite up to supercar status as the corvette is. The front suspension is a struts type, similar to the pre 1992 camaros. The rear suspension is a 3-link that is also near identical to that of the camaro with the exception that it uses an upper link on the pumpkin instead of a torque arm.

Despite its weight, everything is very well tuned. Performance wise, it is on the same level as the Mach 1 mustang. But it doesn't stand a ghost of a chance against a well tuned Lotus with identical power/weight ratio for example.

Imports just always have handled better then amercan cars or so it seems.

And ford 429 hemi u sound like one of them people who say that imports blow so bad and only like american cars am i wrong?\

And maxxtraxx i like ur question... "so why put 20k into a civic and say its faster then a stock vette?"

Why look at a civic though lets take an s2000...
s2000 costs about 32k
corvette costs about 44k

if u can explain why u would pay 12k more for a '13.1' sec 1/4 vs a '14.1' sec 1/4
It make no sense...For one im an s2000 fan...It just seems like comon sense 12k for 1 second? take 1-4k put a sick turbo, replace some other parts and rape the corvette...s2k is flat out the fastest 4 cylynder car. I know i know people say the evo is fastest 4 cyl. But how can u say that? s2k makes 241 hp maybe more in newer one while an evo makes 271 with a TURBO !!!? meh im just rambling now ha but ya anyways dont get me wrong i like amercan cars just as much as imports but it just seems like comon sense to pay 12k less replace some stuff for less then 12k and be just as fast/faster then a corvette.

I catch your drift though. (not driftin ya fool!) Put a C5 handles pretty good. I think it's worth the extra , what 12k? It just is a different market. Some guys will go buy thier Vettes and some will buy thier S2000s . Both are great cars and all . I would just have to say the Vette has better handling:) Oh and by the way... The 2006 Vette will Cost 75k Pumping out 500 horses:)

- Note I am not a American Car sythinizer (sp?) I'm just a Mopar man:) GO CUDAS!

NOSOLENE
i would prefer an evo viii 490 FQR. 490hp family car :)

Hell no dude! That aint no damn family car... the "normal" version got the worst comfort of all cars they tested here in Sweden.. soo... Family car? Naah! :dopey:

The new Mustang has been doing very well road racing. First time out one of them got first place in segment in the Grand-Am series. Others were right up there as well. Despite the oldschool suspension setup there is obviously some racing goodness in this new car.

I got a 6:34 with the same setup. thanks for the great setup

Eh no I can appreciate a good import like Skylines, Supras, and 3000GTs (only the VR-4 Turbos).
But Evos and Impreza's......
No respect since those morons like to line up with me at a stop light rev the motor, then attemp to beat me....
pathetic really....
And sad thing is I stomped them even when my car was stock! They could keep up untill about 70 sometimes 80 then thye was just a reflection.
And now that I got my cobra pushing 685 to the ground.....
well even my ex's new bf who has a Skyline GT-R has no chance. Spank his ass all over.....
Heck even my 68 GT Fastback can whoop his ass!
I don't hate imports I hate the morons who drive them and movies like 2F2F that make cars like Skylines look importal and make it seem the street racing scene is all imports. Sorry I see way more 5.0 stangs and built up camaros and other american cars than I do imports! Why? Cuz the domestics might cost alittle more but it takes less $$$ to upgrade our cars to 600+ hp.
Like me, I spend only $6000 to turn my 372 rwhp 04 Cobra to the 685 hp. Oh and that does include suspension mods! So I can go fast and outhandle those little crotch rockets. But a guy with an Evo, to get that thing to 685 hp.... only thing stock on that motor would be the block, everything else would have to be replaced.....
And again I don't hate imports, but the fact is, Skylines and Spras etc are not these godly cars these stupid fnf morons make them out to be. Like that supra beating the ferrari.... HAHAHA! Maby on a bad day if the dude in the ferrari couldn't drive!
It's just irritating. Plus lets face it folks drag racing is the most pure form of racing, just go! Who ever gets to the other side first wins. It's also the fastest motorsport around..... but then again it's not really a sport....
and nascar....
sorry driving in a circle is not a pro sport, it's parking lot fun..... 👍

Waaa oow!!! Now that's good driving right there.

In reality (Not GT4 ppl):
The new mustang has a very well designed suspension. Although the mustang has a live axle rear suspension which can be a disadvantage. It really isn't much of a disadvantage. The disadvantage is only on bumpy tracks.

In the 80s, SCCA allowed trans am (the class not the freakin firebird for those too young) race cars to run either live axle or independent rear. The result was that neither had an advantage over the other since the tracks were relatively smooth.

The bottom line is that the new mustang is a cheap well powered car than does have a good suspension. The only thing that works against it is it's weight. The only front wheel drive cars that corner as fast weigh somehwere between 500-1000 pounds less.

Yes but lets face it, the mustang is a piece of junk. Getting it to hang with the supercars is a miracle.

What i call a piece of junk is a '63 skyline and a '90 Integra. Just my opinion because there are no new cars that are pieces of junk A mustang is not supposed to keep up with supercars because it is a SPORTS CAR, NOT a supercar.

now matter how much suspension technology you throw at a solid rear axle, it's still a solid rear axle.

Agreed.

I LOVE the solid front and rear axles on my 79 Chevy truck...but that's a 4x4.
Solid axles just don't belong on sports cars.

Read a few posts up. A solid axle is not at any serious disadvantage compared to IRS on a relatively smooth road (like most tracks/autocross parking lots), where its high unsprung weight and coupling of the two sides do not hinder its ability to keep the tires planted.
It also has the advantage that you can design alot more antisquat into its geometry, meaning you can put the power down sooner out of the corner.
