Ok, so were mostly kids here, or at least kids at heart. and kids have a tendancy to have questionable eating habits. It dosent matter weather your living in a dorm, or home from school waiting on mom to get home. We all run into that scenario where the cabinets are empty and lunch is long gone. So lets hear it GTP. What is your favorite zero nutritional value snack when you can't find anything real to eat?

Ok, i'll start. A slice of bread rolled into a log, and diped in ranch dresing. Or mayo. A few of those always silences my tummy.

I used to make toast and dip it in Tomato Juice ( little salt and pepper in the juice )

also, wrapping a piece of balogne around a dill pickle ! I am now married though and always have lots of food...

I prefer snacking on Planter's Honey Roasted Peanuts.

3 or 4 slices of bread, 3 or 4 slices of balogna, lots of hot sauce, a bit of lettuce, and some some cheese. Toss it into the toaster oven for a few minutes and I have a good sandwich :D

Peanut Butter, Mustard and Mayonnaise on bread.

As gross as it sounds, it really isn't.

Growing up, my family was in the poverty range, so we ate some creative meals. This one seems to have stuck with me, even now that I don't have to.

Spock, I thought you were nuts.

But then I got to DA's. :yuck: Did you lose a bet? Your family must be mostly males, right? That's the only reason that combination would be even remotely acceptable.

Mom, Dad, Sister, and two younger brothers.

Like I said, we were in the low income/poverty level growing up.

I know its odd, but its soooo good.

I normally take a slice of cheese and a slice of ham, season it with some salt, pepper, and parmersean cheese, add a little bit of mustard and some hot sauce, then roll it up. Its pretty good actually.

Or you can always just grab a box of Lucky Charms and munch on the marshmallows.

Hey TB .. don't knock the ramen dude, that stuff is gormet for most college kids like myself.

@DA - I would say "I'll have to try that sometime," but we all know I probably won't.

@VTGT - It's not the ramen I have an issue with. I ate ramen almost every day in college. It's the DRY ramen I have an issue with. Do you eat that like a rice cake?

Man, I've led a sheltered existence.

I've been living off a bunch of vanilla snack packs that my neighbor gave me, since my meal account ran out a week ago. They make a good breakfast. Ramen is amazing late at night when nothing is open in town.

Dry ramen tastes quite nice actually.I (sometimes)eat it when I'm bored.Like a cookie!

There's always something in our home to eat. We've got two boys so there's got to be a large variety of things for them to eat.

I just had Black Forest Ham with two slices of swiss cheese two hours ago to hold me over until I make dinner, which I'm starting right now.

Not really .. I break it up eat it in pieces. I can't just chomp into the whole thing for some reason.

I normally only do that when I'm making ramen though.

Solid, what’s for dinner?
Beef Wellington, Gruyere Potatoe Soufflé and steamed baby carrots with horseradish-sour cream sauce. Beef Wellington is one of my specialties. I have a secete duxelles recipe that's made with three kinds of mushrooms, two kinds of olives, two kinds of parsley and some Gruyere cheese.

Mmm, sounds delicious. (The very opposite of bachelor brunch.) Most Wellington recipes I have come across include pâté between the pastry and the beef. Not a fan?

Nope, it ruins the flavor of the beef, IMO. Plus, the boys don't care for it. Goose liver pâté is good with crackers, but not on top of beef.

I might try without some time.

Ok, back onto the dreadful topic…
The ultimate way to feed oneself in a food and cash crisis is to buy a rice cooker. When on campus without a stove, a rice cooker will keep you alive despite the fact that you have wasted all of your money on liquid lunches. Go in on the purchase with a few mates…and make sure you pick up a large sack of rice. We also found that we could make popcorn in the cooker. Oh, add any seasoning to the rice during the cooking process…and keep enjoying those liquid lunches.

Brown Sugar Sandwhichs are pretty good. Just bread, butter, and a ton of brown sugar. Breakfast of campions.

omg I love those.

You know, they have a warning label that says "Warning: May contain traces of nuts and/or peanuts." ?

cheddar cheese dipped in ranch dressing.

cinnamon toast.

microwaved coke, for about 10 seconds. Bring it up to about 45 degrees C.

strawberry twizzlers and some kind of berry yogurt- I suck the yogurt up thru the twizzler and then eat both.

You want the good stuff, save up the $115 and buy a Zojirushi Fuzzy Logic rice cooker. Put in rice, put in water, press start, and it makes perfect rice with no effort whatsoever. I bought one a few weeks ago, and it makes better rice than I get in restaurants.

I mostly eat instant ramen or yakisoba. I usually eat the more expensive ramen, though, the kind that comes vacuum packed and even includes a real pork slice and bamboo shoots, also vacuum packed.

The worst habit I have is eating M&Ms other than that I'd like to think I eat "decently" only because I'm stuck at home still. :guilty:

Have you got any teeth left then? ;)

I eat allsorts when Im hungry and theres no real food around, Bread with salt isnt bad, maybe crunch on some raw hard pasta or dip it in vegemite (Aussie) if I want flavour, Bread and butter or just plain bread, 2 minute noodle but instead of cooking them I eat them raw and sprinkle the flavour on it.

Sometimes I mix parmersean cheese and butter then spread it on bread and grill/toast it (Sizzler told me about that one). To many to list.

I eat lots of raw vege's if we have them like, Capsicum's (bell peppers), spring onions, tomato's (and fruit), pickles, cucumbers etc, some of them with added salt.

I have a greek mother, which apparently means that it is a sin to have anything other than an over flowing fridge! My snacks are usualy quite lavish!

Well, when I come home from a 7 h pass of skating, and nobody's home, I usally eat 7-10 slices of bread with raspberry jam! 👍
Tasty, and quick!

You know, they have a warning label that says "Warning: May contain traces of nuts and/or peanuts." ?
Only in USA..

Well I asked my aunt what she used to eat and it was Vicks vaporub mixed with sugar!

Peperami... don't know who else gets them, but here in the UK, they have saved many a student from starvation... perfect for those drunken staggers home of an evening! When the chippy and the kebab shop are closed, you can still pick up a peperami from the 24 hour garage...

The new 'Fire Stick' super-hot Peperamis are amazing 👍 👍
