Ok, this poll is to decide on what format the championship will run. The options are as follows.

1. A1GP style GT Mode - we all use same power, same weight, same tyres, all we change is set ups, its fair and keeps the field equal. Qualifying will run from mon-fri with you running however many laps you want and sending me your fastest. You race for your country or state depending on how many we get from each country.

2. A1GP style arcade mode - everyone will run the cars on -20% power and on racing hard, set ups cant be changed apart from top speed. Qulai is same as GT Mode. Again same thing with the teams.

3. F1 style GT Mode - same as A1 style GT Mode as power cant be changed, you will only be allowed 3 laps to get your time in quali however. Teams, names will be up to you but keep it as F1 like as possible:p tell me engine manufacturers etc.

4. F1 style arcade mode - Would be based on real F1 data, power and weight settings adjusted accordingly for each team (e.g. mclaren would be a beast and minardi wont be). This would be based on real F1 team data but not on settings and the like, quali is same as F1 gt mode.

Get voting.

My bad thread toools yadayda.

I went for F1 GT mode, sounds much more fun as you actually have to nail one of those 3 laps.

Plus it would be easier to sort out teams too.

I like the sound of changing power/weight ratios for different cars in Arcade mode. I voted for that, but i'm game for anything.

as long as its in gt mode, then, either way is good to me 👍

i voted f1 gt fwiw.

How are you going to police that 3 lap Qualifing Rule? That's not even how it runs anymore.

Yeah now that you mention it that could pose problems, im also unsure of how races can be run in GT Mode without having to run the actual F1 GT series itself.

would there be anything wrong with running the fgt championship? aside from that 122 laps or whatever of motegi superspeed way?

races are, from my expernce, hour and a half to just around 2 hours. b-spec is quite capable of winning fgt races if time is a problem.

Kolyana
Oh man, I voted for the wrong thing. I'd rather go with the A1-GTmode

Ok, il make sure i remember when i look at it:D

@Empty space, good point:D Lets see what everyone else says.

Hands up if you have no problems running the championship in the Formula GT championship within the game.

Ashley.

I don't mind, as long as we have something longer then a 3 lap qualify. At least 3 days.

purhapes instead of limiting qualifing laps, limit the amount of race attempts we can do to accomidate the lenght of the race? granted, well still be on the honour system ...

btw - ive no way submitting replays either.

I voted for A1 GT mode, but either GT mode will work for me. The formula gt is alright with me as well. I'm in the same boat as empty space though, as I too don't have a way to submit my replays either like I said in the other thread.

I think the length of the GT series races imposes its own sort of limit on the number of times someone would want to run it. I'd rather not have a specified limit on attempts. The fewer rules, the better, IMO.

I would love to drive the GT series in the game as part of an OLR.

That said, I voted for A1GP GT Mode for 3 reasons:

1. Three lap limit on qualifying is silly. Even if that was the rule I think I would ignore it. I don't play this game as much as a lot of people here. There's no way I could win if given only 3 laps. Running the qual would be a waste of time, for me.

2. I like the level playing field approach over any sort of racing world realism. Giving some teams more powerful cars is just a bad way to start an OLR series.

3. A1GP Arcade would be fine with me, too, but I do like the GT mode tuning options. It's especially fair with the GP cars since there's no way to increase power.

Giving the best of both worlds (A1 and F1) ive come up with a small sheet of what the championship could be, this includes races, schedule and race format.

The GTP F1 World Championship.

To be run in GT Mode, power values and weight will remain the same and everyone will use the same tyres. The championship will be run using the in game Formula GT series, and will run parallel to the FIA F1 world championship from March.

I have this in MS Word format for those who would also want to keep it.

Wow, the schedule looks awesome!

One question, though... why have a rule to limit the time available for qual and race? Wouldn't it be easier to just set a deadline for both and let people decide their own schedules?

If there's a month between races, it just means drivers/teams have more time to prepare and the competition will be even tighter. In the months that have 3 races, it will be a bit more rushed and may open up top positions to less likely drivers/teams. It's a nice way of letting the natural law of unstoppable forward time progression govern everyone's efforts. ;)

So you mean when the drivers send in times they send in both qual and race time at the same time leaving thwe week for them to run how they want?

That works:D

The races are soooooooooooooooo long! I can't even get 1 clean lap around Nurb in the F1 car.

I'm screwed
!

Hmm, that actually sounds kind of silly. I don't know what I was thinking, exactly.

BTW, what's the point system look like? What's the incentive to qualify well? Will there be any penalties for the top drivers?

Actually, It's a good idea.

Having the race Fri-Sun is difficult because alot of people do things on the weekend and won't find time to do a 2 hour race. Having them both run together for the whole week is good. You might be someone like me who is pretty busy on the weekend and has no time for a 2 hour race, but I could probably squeeze in some more qualifing laps.

I think you need to have more then 3 days to get down a good race time in the FGT. If it is run in GT Mode, is it possible to turn the AI and Wall hitting penalties on? I've never looked at it.

Right, right! That's what I was thinking about! More time for the RACING part. Do we even need qual?

Casio

No it's not. I think basic OLR rules cover it, though. Stay on the track. Don't intentionally hit the walls or other cars. Anyone who is lame enough to cheat would just leave the penalties off, anyway.

...though, I must admit having the pit-thru penalty enabled in JGTC keeps me extra honest, sometimes. ;)

ash - i like the schduel though i was desperately hoping the super speed wouldnt make it.

bee - clean laps arent a problem for me there ... its the fact that fgts only get 2 laps worth of tyre life there is a prblem though.

Ok, I think we will go with the full week long for races and qualwth 1 set deadline for both.

Soyfu, theres an extra point in the bag for pole ;)

As regarding hitting AI and walls, i like to think of it this way. If you would get away with it in a license test (small bumps, 2 wheels off etc) then its allowed, obviously if it would cause a fail in a license test then its too much. As regards to going off the circuit, its different in FGT cars as they spin more easily so its almost a self inflicted penalty:D

empty space, il see if theres any other possible races that could be used, though im not sure if there is one. Im pretty sure that 99% of us wouldnt want to drive 127 laps of super speedway.

I'm very interested in this, as it will allow me to imagine that i'm actually competing in the F1 series irl!

Well, somewhere near it anyway.

Ashley, the schedule looks and sounds fantasic, as the circuits are more or less the same to the real life circuits, such as fast/slow/techical/difficult etc etc.

Just need the car. GT Mode is an added bonus too. (If that is in).

However, i have no way of submitting videos and the like, apart from taking a picture of the screen...Or writing a race report.

How are we going to do the team stuff? Like engine manf. and stuff? Are multiple people going to be allowed to use the same manf, i.e. mercedes/mclaren or ferrari, or is it going to be first come first serve? Because I'd like to be mercedes/mclaren, gotta stick with my roots, go Raikkonen :)

Yeah you can use the same manufacturers, its not really gonna affect the championship its just gonna add realism to the whole thing:)

I wont make a sign up thread just yet, as its still a while away until the start of the series.
