How to link to YouTube videos in your posts:-

Once you've found a video at YouTube, copy and paste the URL... e.g.:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WNlHXcZkuI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDdKwivBK9g&mode=related&search=

You only need the bits in bold to link to the video
... highlight that part and then click the YouTube button to surround the code with the YouTube tags, or simply type them out with the code inserted in the middle...

KMARS Super Sound's Of The Seventies Presents...

Transatlantic 70's Playlist

George Harrison - This Song (from "33 1/3", 1976)
 6/10 Not great quality, but rare find

(Written as a riposte to his infamous plagerism trial for 'My Sweet Lord' in 1970, Eric Idle of Monty Python guest stars)

Sparks - Amateur Hour (from "Kimono My House", 1972)
 8/10 Classic, rare footage - good audio + video quality

(Bonkers Californian brothers Ron (keyboard) and Russell Mael (vocals) with my favourite song from the same album that brought us 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us' - contains the great lyric "It's a lot like playing the violin / You cannot start off to be Yehudi Menuhin")

Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street (from "City to City", 1978)
 8/10 Orig. video, vg sound quality

(Scottish singer/songwriter and former band-mate of Scottish comedian Billy Connolly... )

Supertramp - Breakfast In America (from "Breakfast In America", 1979)
 6/10 Great song, slightly poor vid

(British art-rock group hit the jackpot and made it big in America with their 1979 Blockbuster album, "Breakfast...", scoring massive hits with the title track and 'The Logical Song')

Steely Dan - Do It Again (live 1973) (from "Can't Buy A Thrill", 1972)
 8/10 Great live performance

(Who is this bloke on lead vocals? Steely Dan (used to) use guest vocalists to do live work - the actual lead singer (Donald Fagen) is the guy with the dark hair and the mouth big enough to eat a piece of toast sideways....)

This seems like a great idea. I'll be compiling a list of Prog to post here... I'll be editing this thread in the next few days with it.

I'll start off with some prog metal.

Even if you don't like death metal-inspired music, nor the grunts, you have to appreciate the fact that Opeth, being a death-metal-oriented band, can vary their musical styles many times within a song, and the singer can go from all-out death grunting yells, to soft, ballad-like whispers.

Coprofago. This great band from Chile also mixes many styles. Death metal, thrash metal, jazz and a bit more. I think very few bands have been able to fuse all this so perfectly ever.

The Birthday Massacre - Blue. Although very weird and virtually unclassifiable, I really like this band a lot.

It's all about the instrumentals

Carlos Santana - incident in neshabur

Carlos Santana - Blues for Salvador

I like that Opeth track, Diego - if you make any compilations or YouTube posts in your (superb) Prog thread, I can always add links in Post #1 of this thread to them as well...

KMARS Classic British Progressive Rock

Yes - Roundabout (c 1973) (orig. from 'Fragile', 1971)

(A great performance of a classic Yes song)

Pink Floyd - Careful With That Axe, Eugene (from "Live in Pompeii")

(That bloke's a NUTTER! - Great quality video of Floyd from their seminal film of 1972)

Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick (from 'Thick As A Brick', 1972)

(That bloke's even more of a NUTTER! - more folk than prog, but Ian Anderson deserves honourable prog status for his sheer lunacy)

Genesis - Dancing Out With The Moonlit Knight (c. 1974) (from 'Selling England By The Pound, 1974)

(OK, this bloke is even more of a NUTTER than the previous two...! Peter Gabriel leads Genesis, with Phil Collins on drums...)

King Crimson - Lark's Tongue In Aspic Pt 1 (c. 1974) (from 'Lark's Tongue In Aspic, 1974)

(Finally, some serious prog, the masterful Robert Fripp leads Crimson in an instrumental classic...)

Cliff Burton Tribute
I gathered the videos when GTP was down.
He sure liked to headbang.

Warning: 1st two videos contain swearing

1983 playing No Remorse(live)

Anesthesia and another solo(live)

1985 Very cool video of For Whom The Bell Tolls(live)

1985 Fade to Black(live), not great quality, but still awesome

1989 2 min clip of To Live Is To Die(live)

Here's the version with Jason's solo in the beginning.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ysy4_Sx3iew

Pretty much my all time favorite song.
Dream Theater- Pull Me Under

The Drummer of Dream Theater Mike Portnoy performs another one of his solos!

Joe Satriani My all time favorite guitarist. He taught the guitar player of Metallica, and Steve Vai how to play. he truly is one of a kind.
Joe Satriani- The Extremist

Quick Facts: About..
Virgil Donati Considerablly the best drummer of all time. And by far has the quickest feet I have ever seen. And this is nothing compared to what he can do. He lost his marriage due to his ubsesive drumming. He would play all day until his body didn't allow him to do no more. That means he plays drums more then I play video games  My legs are soar after watching videos from one of his drum fests.

It's just a promotional video. But theres more at his site.

Porcupine Tree-Blackest Eyes

The name of this compilation could be. Prog/Solo or somthing along those lines. I could make hundreds of these things.

EDIT: I'm having trouble with this Youtube stuff, can someone PM me with instructions. Thanks in advance.

Nice one, thanks for the contribution guys....... :)

M_Y, I've fixed your post.... I've now also included some instructions on how to link to YouTube vids in Post #1 👍

Thanks a billion! rep+! I know you got the badge, i'm just making sure you still got it.

Supernova - "Math"

Aquabats - "Super Rad"

Classic Van Halen - "Unchained (Live Us Festival '83)

A coked-up, drunk and out-of-breath (coke does that to you) David Lee Roth in epic performance with the rest of the gang.

Dead Kennedys - "Forest Fire"

Grandaddy - "Crystal Lake"

How come they all show up as white squares? It's totally finished loading.

EDIT: I just checked there site, and it's down. There fixing stuff up my guess is.

Is there a name for your compilation, Solid?

Hmmmm, no. I wasn't thinking of one while I picked these songs. I see you need to title it something for your first post. Go with what you think is best. I was craving to see these at the time, so if it's not too retarded "Solid's Cravings."

Next time, I'll come up with a thyme.

KMARS Emotion 98.3 Tribute
(80's Collection Vol. I)

Peter Gabriel - Shock The Monkey
 4/5 - Sound quality not great

(Brilliant, innovative song from the album Peter Gabriel 4 (aka 'Security'))

The Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime

 4/5 - Vid quality not the best

(Ground-breaking song with the help of Brian Eno - the epitome of 80's music videos)

Roxy Music - More Than This
 3/5 Not a great video, not the best quality...

(Used in 'GTA; Vice City', some classic Bryan Ferry angst)

Talk Talk - It's My Life
 5/5 Weird video, but great song - high quality video/audio

(Brilliant original that spawned the surprisingly good cover version by No Doubt in 2003)

The Psychedelic Furs - Love My Way

 3/5 Not great quality

(Another Vice City classic, dodgy 80's gear aplenty in this vid, but a superb song)

Solid's Favorite '80s Songs Vol. 1

The following videos are perhaps my top five '80s style songs I enjoyed then and now. Perhaps you'll enjoy them too.

Flock of Seagulls - "Space Age Love Song"

Burning Sensations - "Belly of the Whale"

Big Country - "In A Big Country"

Blancmange - "Living on the Ceiling"

Killing Joke - "Eighties"

Nice one, Solid 👍 Very original selection of some different songs from classic acts from the decade...., excellent compilation all round. I've just made an 80's one aswell, and, like yourself, I've acknowledged the fact that it probably won't be the only 80's compilation I'll make ;) - the video jukebox is taking shape nicely :D

Here's some Jazz (culture) for you guys. Listen to them all. Again, I start off strong, and finish with my favorite.

Solid Lifters' "Jazzapalooza-YouaTubealooza"

Dave Brubeck Quartet - "Take Five"

John Coltrane - "Impressions"

Miles Davis - "So What"

George Benson - "Give Me the Night"

Billie Holiday - "Sweet and Mellow"

Billie Holiday is your favourite? I figured you more for a Wes Montgomery type.

KMARS Mods v Rockers

The Who - My Generation (live in Monterey)

The mod band turn in a smashing performance

The Jam - David Watts

The Jam's classic cover version of The Kinks' original

---

The Clash - Clampdown (live)

From one of the best albums ever made IMHO, 'London Calling'

The Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop (live)

American legends show that the Brits are not the only ones who can do punk rock

Modern Jazz

I start off with a modern version of the jazz classic Canteloup Island. This one played by Pat Metheny, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland and Herbie Hancock.

The Yellowjackets, with Jimmy Haslip on the left-handed bass

Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, with the amazing Victor Wooten on bass

Great classic modern jazz, Weather Report, with Jaco Pastorius on bass, Alejandro Acuña on drums and Wayne Shorter on sax.

Simply amazing: the days of Stanley Clarke and George Duke

Great (Modern Jazz) Solos

Very impressive: George Duke solo (piano)

Kenny Garret (Saxophone)

Richard Bona (bass)

Victor Wooten (bass)... is this guy the best bassist on the world or what?

John Scofield in 1994. This song is played with Pat Metheny, although the video cuts just before Metheny's solo. First 45+ seconds are introduction in German.

Billie Holiday is your favourite? I figured you more for a Wes Montgomery type.

Yeah, and Joe Pass, Pat Metheny, Ed Bickert and John Scofield. But, I already had George Benson for a Jazz guitarist.

The song is, yeah. I love that song. I sing it all the time to my wife when she complains I'm not being nice. (I like to rub it in). Plus, the last lines in that song are the best I've ever heard. Plus, it's more of a bluesy-jazz song. I was going for diversity with my selections.

The Aquabats - "CD Repo Man"

Man or Astroman? - "9 Volt"

The Replacements - "Bastards of Young"

The Dickies - "Give It Back"

Rocket From the Crypt - "Sturdy Wrists"
