Holy Cow GTPro, you have a LOT of spare income. Thats amazing.

can you adopt me or something? seriously i'll even do the dishes twice a week lol :D

I Have Updated my cockpits, I am using two dfp's and one df but that is going to change soon, I just ordered one more dfp :dopey:

I'd like to see more pictured of this set-up. What kind of TV's are they?

This thread is actually for cheap cockpit alternatives, not the elaborate and well developed.

Haven't had the chance to snap the picture yet, and I modified it a bit last night.

If someone if looking for a way to build this similarly, I've whipped up this little Sketchup file. You can download sketchup from Google at http://sketchup.google.com/

Here's the image I did up, and the image is a link. Download it, and change the .ppt at the end to .zip and you can unzip it. Sorry about all the hoops to jump through.

I'll post up the pics of me in my chair, hopefully tonight.
Thats an interesting design, shouldn't it fall over though as soon as you get out of it? That's a lot of weight pulling the front of that chair without an extra leg to support it.

I know this is a "cheap cockpits only" tread, before this set up I had just two tv's and two steering wheel's, I modified my set up and now I have 3 steering wheels, I will post some more pictures later today when I get out of school. The tv's are Panasonic panablack 21", they are regular tv's, by the way I'm in Mexico.

In that particular design, it is likely that it will tilt over.

The real one actually, is almost right on the balance point. I've recently removed a bit of weight from the mount, so it is a bit better.

Yes, in each of the designs with the folding metal chair, the balance needs to be considered.

Here are two more pictures of my setup, it was actually cheap, 100 us dollars for the threee seats and like 80 us dollars for the 3 cockpits made out of tubular steel.

Very Nice! I was worried that you'd made a ludicrous claim and were attempting pan something off as other than your own.

Braddock and ken2903, thanks for your comments. I've taken the liberty of putting something together. It's not entirely like the drawing, cause that had it's flaws.

What do you think? No, it's not finished yet...

not too bad, is it stable? i mean does it wobble or anything?

It's pretty stable. There are some tiny adjustements needed, but all in all it's pretty good. The plates on the side make it stable, cause they're quite heavy.

sounds good, all you need is some paint, racing stripes FTW :) 👍

...and a G25. But that's a bit more expensive than the cockpit. My DFP is slowly dying.... But yeah, I'll paint it, make it a bit stronger and off we go!

i've seen worse and this is the 'cheap cockpit alternatives only' thread so i doubt anyone will laugh at that.

hey all,

I was surfing around on the web a week ago and I landed on this thread. As a fellow GTer I immediately felt like, I WANT TO BUILD THIS TOO!
so I started with reading the whole thread, seeing some really good cockpits, and I got inspired very fast!💡

so I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread who has inspired me.👍

I'll post my scetches and pics in the future on this thread, and for those who want to design their own: ScetchUp (got it from: Der Alta)

bye,

vince

here's my photografic sketch:

just need to get a decent VGA box to link my ps2 to my pc screen, buy the 2.1 surround set, build the cockpit and the clutch, and then Im ready to race!

Costs:

cockpit. € 13.- ( 10 on wood , 3 on screws)
DFP wheel € 107.-
seat around €40.-
clutch € don't know, ill pm nurburgring

accesoires:

2.1 surr sound. € 30.-
VGA box. between € 30.- and € 60.-

I thought I had posted my cheap stand in this thread, but it isn't, so here is my $5 stand made from either a kitchen sink cutout and counter-top or a discarded dresser, and instructions on how to make one yourself. Actually, for that $5 (Canadian, BTW), I now have 3 similar stands.

It is pretty stable under most conditions. Situations that jerk the wheel back and forth get it rocking a little bit, but it has fully withstood this shaking. I don't use the stronger Pro wheel, though, just the GT3 DF and now the EX.

I am using recycled materials until I find a wheel stand design I really like.

thanx!

Now, I'm looking for something better.

How about this one? - it has a platform for your PS2 too! 👍 :sly:

lol, how much would that costs. Must be a packet with all those extra:D

Now I have little desk with vertical regulation.
I'll add photos soon.

my setup is a computer chair with a little breakfast table with 19 1/2 by 14 1/2 inches it cost about 15 bucks

My latest revision, for comfortable gaming! No more post between my legs, and adjustable seat and foot board... That's not me driving, it's my very short friend. The arrangement will allow my 6'8" frame to sit comfortably in it as well.

Thats a mighty fine wheel you got there! 👍 But the shifter is on the wrong side. :sly:
