Grand Turismo Motor Sports Association Presents:
GTP Lemans Series - Season 2

Its that time of year racers, time to dust off the prototypes, squeeze back into that suddenly shrunken driver's suit, and fly breakneck down the straights of some of the best tracks in the world. Welcome to Season 2 of GTPLMS.

The second iteration of the series will be a bit different from the first. Many changes to classes, cars, and schedule will hopefully combine into an even better experience than the first season. For all the returning drivers, the changes will be explained below, and for our rookies, welcome to LMS competition as only GTMSA can provide.

Rules and Regulations:
All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by GTPLMS sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ICallShotgun) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manor.

All race and qualifying specific information will be in the individual threads. These are there for your information, not just my health and finger dexterity. This includes, but is not limited to deadlines, race length, qualifying length and type, car specifications, penalties assessed, and anything else that is if importance to that event.

All cars must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA. These have been tested vigorously for months and are as close to even as GTMSA can get them. This does not mean they are set in stone, as GTMSA will adjust any and all settings to keep competition fair and fun.
GTPLMS competition will institute round-by-round competition adjustments. These will be adjustments to horsepower in percentage points as follows.
1st - -2%
2nd - -1%
...
2nd Last - +1%
Last - +2%
Up to a maximum of +/- 5%. Each addition/restriction will last for 3 sessions, qualifying OR race. Race restrictions carry over to qualifying, and vice versa.

Penalties for Late Time Submission will be as such.
If the driver submits times Private Messaged through GTP to ICallShotgun before the deadline as time-stamped by GTP, no penaly will be given. A driver has up to 2 hours after deadline to send in their time, but a penalty will be enforced equal to the lateness of the submission, 1 second for every minute after deadline up to 3hr past deadline. Anything after 3hr will not be accepted and will post a DNS/DNQ.
ex. Deadline is 7p CST. A driver submits his/her time at 8:15p CST. This would incur a penalty of 1m15s as the time is 1h15m after deadline.
ex. Deadline is 7p CST. A driver submits at 7:18p CST. This would incur an 18s penalty.

All Standard Online Racing Rules apply.
  • No Cheating, Hybrids, or any crap like that. Run the car I set up for you please.
  • Try and keep two wheels on the road at all times. No shortcuts.
  • No wall-riding. It slows you down.

Qualifying-Specific Rules and Regulations

Qualifying will be run in Arcade Mode. This season Qualifying will be a mixture of Hot Laps and Short Sprint Races. Each race could be different, so you will have to PAY ATTENTION TO THE RACE THREAD. Sprint races will be between 3-4 laps, depending on track-length, and drivers will submit total time and best laps to me. Hot laps will be just that, a hot lap.

Race-Specific Rules and Regulation
Races will be run in Arcade Mode. Racers will use the given track, car specifications, AI settings, and any other settings that GTMSA provides IN THE RACING THREAD (see a pattern here?).
AI contact is permitted. That's right, AI contact is PERMITTED. However, with that comes penalties, which will be set up at race-time. You will not be able to use the AI as a brake, although they sometimes use you. You will, however, have incidental contact on occasion and this should not cause you to re-start. It does slow you considerably, though, so use at your own risk.

For returning drivers, we will NOT be using B-spec BOB this season. This is a driver's championship, and therefore drivers will not be hindered by BOB any longer. (please, hold your applause)

Points and Championships

There will be two Points Championships this year; a Drivers Championship and a Manufacturers Title. No Team championship will be awarded as teams don't seem to stay around.

Qualifying points will be based on finish. 1pt will go to the fast-qualifier in each class, with an additional 1pt to the fastest lap in sprint-race qualifying.

Race points will be 1st-10pt, 2nd-8pt, 3rd-6pt, 4th-4pt, 5th-2pt, 6th-1pt.

Additionally, 1pt will be awarded to the driver with the fastest lap, and 1pt will be awarded to ANY driver who makes a submission both for Qualifying and Races. Even if you say "I won't be racing this week" in a PM, you get 1pt for effort and dedication. That's 20pts throughout the season if a driver makes all qualification and races.

Manufacturer's championship will be based on the highest finishing make and be based off the driver's championship table.
ex. If the finishing order is Mazda, Mazda, Chevy, Mazda would get 10pt for a first place, and Chevy would get 6pt for 3rd. No points would be awarded to the 2nd place Mazda.

In addition, Endurance races will be Double Points Events. These are marked in the schedule below.

Race Schedule

Round 1: Yokohama Grand Prix of Suzuka - Suzuka (Double Points Event)
Qualifying (Hotlap) / Race
Round 2: Toyota presents the Mount Fuji Grand Prix - Fuji '90s
Qualifying (Sprint) / Race
Round 3: Bridgestone Streets of New York - New York Rev

Round 9: Petit LeMans presented by Chevy - Tokyo R246 (Double Points Event)

Additionally there will be some pre-season testing and possibly an invitational at the end of the season. Who knows...

I'm very interested in you series 👍 I was very sad that I haven't took part in the first season, but now I will run this championship. I'm sure that my cousin will also take part in this.

But there's some questions to you:

1) Why there's no "number of laps" for each stage? I think it isn't a top secret :sly:

2) I'd like to take part it two classes but how many time are you going to give us for each stage? If that is about 10 days or so - that's ok. If that a week, or less - then I'm afraid that I can run just one class.

Looking forward to hearing from you. 👍

PS: And the question I'm always asking for: can I use #0 for my car? That's a long story about it, but I like it very much! It's my lucky number! :sly:

Wow looks great! I would love to be a part of this. Still working on what car to choose though.

1) Why there's no "number of laps" for each stage? I think it isn't a top secret :sly:

Yup, kind of a secret, and kind of because I haven't set the lap numbers yet. So it'll be week-by-week in the race thread.

It'll be 1 week for qualifying, 1 week for races. 2 weeks / round total. Last year qualifying and race were given 1 week, and I ran 4 classes and the series. it was a lot, but it can be done. but since it was a lot, i am breaking it up into two week format this season. Races will be roughly 45m except for the endurance events, which get extra time anyway (how much is not determined yet).

PS: And the question I'm always asking for: can I use #0 for my car? That's a long story about it, but I like it very much! It's my lucky number! :sly:

Sure, but for prototype only. I may let you use #00 if you're going to run a GT(1,2,3) but no more than two classes.

Hope that answers your questions.

Looking really great! Thanks a lot for your answers, and for car numbers :) If you give us 2 weeks for one round I will be very glad to run you series in 2 or maybe even in 3 classed at the same time. I like this from the very very beginning for it's fair rules, great carlists and equal characteristics. 👍 👍 👍 So count me in. I will test cars for a while and will post my entry. Also I'm going to tell about all this to my cousin.

Give the DrewpyBalls OAP Racing team a few days to talk things over, and we'll no doubt provide some sort of team entry that may provide some pre-season entertainment!

There is absolutely no doubt that we will both be entering.

Neil/Andy

What he said!

Ahh! Master of the understatement!:)

Wot you reckon bud? Should we make it hard on ourselves to win this season?

EDIT
I'm sort of thinking Audi R8 & Pagani Zonda LM.
Not that I have done any testing yet, at all, but they are both challenging rides that are completely different to the RX-7.

Wot do you think?

Neil

Wow, it's getting pretty thick in here!:lol::lol:

But if you guys want a challenge, I can give you some suggestions back-channel...

OK, I have done some quick testing of the protypes and these are my results:

All cars have been set to as close to 750 Hp as poss without going under, all have RM/RM tyres, and all have their top speed set to 400 Kph.
No changes have been made to the weight of the cars, but as they are all 900 Kg, there was no need to anyway.

High Speed ring.
Bently S8 55.736 @ 753Hp (Very understeery, and vague)
Audi R8 54.887 @ 751Hp (Understeery, but has more feel than the Bently)
Pesc PS2 56.513 @ 753Hp (Less understeery, and has better feel than the Audi)
Pesc C60 56.006 @ 750Hp (Better than the PS2, but slower overall)
BMW V12 55.351 @ 755Hp (Very stable, good feel, nicely balanced)
Toy. GT1 55.847 @ 756Hp (Very stable, great feel, nicely balanced but slower than the BMW)

Le Sarthe I
Audi S8 3'15.494
BMW V12 3'16.290
Toy. GT1 3'16.847

Obviously these times are only for comparison, and are subject to my making the odd minor mistake (especially round Le Sarthe I) so don't take them as gospel.
I haven't done any tyre testing with them yet, so hold the phones. That's for tomorrow, off to play pool for the evening shortly.

Hmmm.
Looks interesting.Chris, when do you plan to start this thing?

Good to see you back Laszlo! And C-H-A-R-G-E-R is right, sometime in May, but with a few pre-season events (1-2 actually) starting in April.

Neil, if i knew you were interested in car testing, I would have asked you for some input. I will tell you that the Prototypes are pretty close (as close as I could get them) and there are some HP tweaks.

I think that it will start in May, as it was mentioned above :)

As I am getting older,I'm getting lazier and blinder too.:) Sorry.

I need to race.Where when not in an other well organized series besides the JGTC?👍
This time I need to take only one car and need to be careful about my car choice.:nervous: It looks there are exciting cars down in GT3 class.I like it.

You can count on me running at least one class - GT2, GT3 or both

Alright, alright. I give up. I'm in... Though, I still haven't picked my car. Torn between Prototype in the BMW V12, or GT3, where the Clio Cup has my heart, and the Apex MR-S has my brains...

Say, about GT3... Any chances of including the rest of the JGTC GT300 cars? Celica, ASL Garayia, Silvia - they're very similar in performance to the rest.

I have to explain - I'm in, as long as I don't see a huge pressure building up during the upcoming vacation, which could affect the tests that I should study for rather than enjoying a good OLR.

LOL 👍

Also I want to say "hello!" to someone I've been racing with for a while in WRS :) Nice to see you here CRXnut and Gingiba! 👍

well, I don't run in WRS much anymore because I like multi lap races

Oops! Sorry!

I have always been brought up that sharing was caring!

I was just wanting to share my findings, in a non-competitive series promoting way!
Oh well?

And you knew I would do testing for you, I offered last season, and never retracted the offer.:indiff:

I did test most of them, but I didn't want it to be a GT300 field. Taht's another reason I picked the BMW 320i, some differential. I REALLY wanted the S2000 because i love the way it screams down the straights (loud engine!) but decided on the Beemer for variety's sake.

And you can pick more than one class, but only one car per class per driver. does that make sense?

Nope, i don't mind...test all you want, and you can post results no problem. I don't mind it.

Entrie list updated. Welcome aboard ERacer. Sammi, good to see a lady to class up the field (especially when Neil and Andy get involved.) Just kidding guys.

Doing some testing for GT3 right now, expect an official entry in about 30 minutes.

Question: Can I, assuming free spots are left, add an entry to, say, Prototype class after I do the GT3 joining?

Testing results: Laguna Seca, RH Tyres. (1 lap A-spec, 1 lap B-spec, plus 'feel-report' - all cars stock and unchanged)
Cusco Advan Impreza: 1'30.172 / 1'34.202 / Awsome brakes, easilly consistant and smooth. A little understeer + soft suspension are a downside.
Autobacs Apex MR-S: 1'30.838 (With big mistake, could be another 0.5 quicker) / 1'33.619 / Feels wonderful, but lacks a smoother engine and better braking - stopping is nowhere as on-the-edge as the Cusco's, but not bad for an MR. Hard to be consistant with this one...
Toyota Altezza Tourer: 1'29.276 (with two minor errors, but could be 0.3 quicker) / 1'35.221 / Lots of downforce - best of the bunch. Awsome engine as well, you can enjoy the sound of 10,000RPM. However, lack of torque (half the amount the Cusco and Autobacs have) is a problem there. But surely another 10-20KM/h in each corner can make up for that? Apparently, it does. B-spec Bob failed miserably, cornering at the same speeds - but I managed to extract a lap that was almost a second quicker than the Advan! And with a slightly shorter gearbox (changing to 1st for the final corner? I mean, Come On), anything's possible. It also proved the best tyre-conserver of the bunch - it manages the El Cap enduro (B-spec) in a single pitstop, it's lightweight and the torque doesn't kill the tyres - I'm sure Neil could do 50 laps out of a set of Hards with this car. 1000KG, Extra downforce, 10,000RPM - you just can't beat such combos.
Honda S2000LM: 1'30.349 / 1'33.675 / Or can it? Only 50KGs heavier, but with an extra 2,000RPM 'till the redline, this car's a beast. Sounds like god on earth, but, unfortunately, doesn't handle like one. Brakes aren't too good, but they're not bad either. Gearing's a little wide, and I suspect it lacks torque, but boy, it's fun to hear. B-spec unlocked a good laptime out of this beasty, but I didn't - it's too hard to drive consistently and quickly.
BMW 320i Tourer: 1'32.340 / 1'37.545 / Heaviest of the bunch, I didn't expect much from it. It didn't surprise me - it was slower than the whole field. It ran a 1'40 at first, but then I discovered it ran with 260HP - but even with 305HP to compensate, it was painfully slow. A-spec ran slow as well...
Renault Clio Cup: Oddly enough, it won't appear in the Arcade menu, despite having won two of those. Though, with half the average downforce, it isn't a real contender.

Still torn between the uber-awsome Altezza and the super-consistant Impreza. Any help picking?

Stg.2 of testing:

Tsukuba, R4s, 301HP (on both), stock weight:

Advan Impreza: 0'53.1xx / Brakes weren't as awsome anymore, and the car was a lot harder to drive than the Altezza.
Altezza LM: 0'52.786 / Brakes were awsome, steering was flat & simple. My choice so far.
Now I need a sponsor...

EDIT: Me and CRXNut are probably teaming up, which will cause trouble for both the first and the second half of the field :trouble:

EDIT2: Also added, Tyre-testing. B-spec Bob mustered out 5 laps out of both cars on RSS (on HSR), 26 from the Cusco and 27 from the Alte (HSR, again). Fuji 80s, he got 15 out of both cars on RMs, though the Altezza was so soft on the rears, he was able to use RM/RSS (!!!) and still have a greenish rear when pitting.

Ging, you can add entries anytime you want. I'm running all four classes because I like the cars, but you all are more than welcome to pick up a class whenever.

there is no limit to how many people can race in one class, there is no limit on car types / class (i'd like diversity, but if there's 15 vipers in GT1, we'll run 15 vipers).

c

are you gonna level out the field or are we gonna run stock numbers ?
