Drift Rally Challenge

ok, so i do enjoy a good time trial and have had a lil satisfaction at improving on my personal best in competition with like minded drivers in the JGTC run the last couple of weeks. i have also been diverting myself and earning 'cr' by doing a few drift runs on the rally tracks, and have had much fun in doing so.

The :gtplanet: Drift Rally Challenge
depending on levels of interest/response, i am happy to devise and operate a weekly challenge, where competitors are ranked according to the number of drift points attained in a single lap of a rally track.

to gauge interest, week 'zero' is an exhibition, with a very limited choice of cars. hopefully, with sufficient interest, we will be able to have a full series and a more interesting choice of cars. i am open to any and every suggestion (please post here, rather than PM :)) whether it be regarding how to run the series or what cars should be allowed or whatever.

Week Zero:
Exhibition, 'Tahiti Maze' (forward).

Permitted Car Selection:
Audi quattro '82
BMW 2002 Turbo '73
Citroën Xsara VTR '03
Ford Focus RS '02
Ford RS200 '84
Lancia DELTA HF Integrale Evoluzione '91
Lancia STRATOS '73
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR '04
Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 '85

Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STi spec C (Type-II) '04
Toyota CELICA GT-FOUR (ST205) '98
Volkswagen Golf V GTI '05

evidence of points scored should be presented in the usual format i.e. screenshot of 'My Records' screen that appears when selecting 'Drift Trial' for a particular track. please post here on the site - you don't need to PM me, i shall try to update a leader board once per day.

drivers are required to use 'professional' driving physics, but may use 'TCS' at their own discretion.

by all means try any car you like and let us know the results, but i would prefer to limit the cars for this exhibition to those listed as they are all easy buys and i think give enough variety for different driving styles. of course, if a full series does go ahead, the car list will revised and will almost certainly include all race spec rally cars modern and 'vintage' alike. :)

or maybe would be better to have no restrictions on which cars can be used? :)

It would be better if there was an HP limit, or if it was divided into divisions (i.e. Japanese rally cars 70-80) or have special 2 car tournies (like datsun 510 vs. bmw 2002)

I have a pretty crazy score here but i'm not gonna give it out :)

EDIT: For your car list id say anywhere from 200hp-400hp cars. No rally and a fiat 500...LOL. Also can we use the Subaru 22B for this week?

very interested in taking part - currently running low 22000 in the scooby.

Couple of suggestions.
Can we run a smaller number of cars (say no more that 10) and have a tally for each car. otherwise the 'best' drift car will lock out all the results.

Getting 25k in an FF car will not be as easy as 25k in an FR

now back to work.

i think a limited car list would be better too. there doesn't seem to be any advantage to be had by running a rally spec car, so i'm happy to keep the rally cars if people want to use them. i'd like participants to be able to choose a different cars for each stage of the series rather choosing one car for the entire season, so perhaps we can start with a limited list then introduce other cars for particular races or 'special stages' (see below). i'm thinking to limit entries only to deadline, so people can make multiple entries for the same stage with different cars if they so choose.

with regard to road drifting, the rally tracks have an automatic choice of tyre and prohibit use of ASM (not that there'd be any reason to want ASM drifting anyway) thus making rule enforcement easier, also some of the rally tracks incorporate multiple surfaces thus making more of a test for drivers, but i don't see any reason not to have some road drift 'special stages' inserted into the series to liven things up a lil'.

your revised selection of fifteen cars:

Audi quattro '82
BMW 2002 Turbo '73
Citroën Xsara VTR '03
Ford Focus RS '02
Ford RS200 '84
Lancia DELTA HF Integrale Evoluzione '91
Lancia STRATOS '73
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR '04
Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 '85
Renault 5 Turbo '80
RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" '87
Subaru IMPREZA Premium Sport Coupe 22B-STi Version '98
Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STi spec C (Type-II) '04
Toyota CELICA GT-FOUR (ST205) '98
Volkswagen Golf V GTI '05

yes/no?

happy with the car list

by tally I simply meant rather than having a single scoreboard, you could have one per track / per car or per track / per car type

eg

'Tahiti Maze' (forward) - Ford RS200 '84

or

'Tahiti Maze' (forward) - 150bhp - 200bhp
'Tahiti Maze' (forward) - 200bhp - 250bhp

do you see what I mean ?

is hard work too.. trying for 30k lol. need to make at least 2k just on the first corner.. and make as much out of the straights as possible!
