What's up everyone!!!! I need some help with The "Complex string" TT race. I'v had this game for about 2 years now and thats the last thing I need to do to get 100%. I so much wanted to complete it without any help, but it just freaking drives me nuts everytime I race it:banghead: Any help would be vary useful.

Thanx in advance!!!!

I think the better is practice with the licence tests in Complex String (Ruf RGT, Mine's Skyline and Skyline GT-R R34), in that areas you can cut some seconds.
And the only thing you have to keep in mind during the time trial is DON'T MAKE MISTAKES. If you drive not very fast but you don't make any mistake, you can win.

I had the exact same problem as you i was allways 10 seconds slower than the required Gold lap..then i was pulling laps just .200 slower it was really starting to piss me off..:trouble:

It took me a while to crack it ..All i can suggest is to brake early rather then trying to hammer into the corners .And take a nice smooth racing line. This was where i was going wrong..Don't race your ghost as this can put you off..And keep it smooth ..But the obvious Practice ..The hardest part for me was the ,Blind bends section..I practiced those in the IB-6 and IB-7 licence test's..
But most important study the demos close (as im sure you,ve done)..:)

Good luck dude hope you crack it ..

I always turn the ghost off...

I might have to give the String a go some time, all this talk about it has got me aroused... :trouble:

Meh, it's one of those tests where you're only going to pass it once in a lifetime, at least it was for me...;)

I remember how annoying it was...

I only did 3 laps and I cut the record 1 sec (or 0.9 I think).
pedrodaman is right, brake soon and go thruogh corners accelerating to have more speed in straights.
Try to exit the corners (the ones which are before straights) at the maximum speed as possible.

not insinuating the 100 lapper there are you mate?;)

as pedrodaman said brake early and try to be smooth, if you are to late on the picks you may as well start again

almost 7 hours race time, 12 hours total, had a busted ankle at the time had nothin else to do :D

there are plenty more interesting activities that dont involve ankle movement... although 100 laps sounds like fun... NOT! :P

what's ur favourite part of cs then?

Only 2 wheels tho, I hate it when you get to that last zig zag brake a smidge to late and...... FAILED. Aghhhh hate that.
:O
I am still 10 secs of my self tho:mad:

Wait a minute you have a race with a TT on complex string???????????????????

Is your game different, or is it the concept game because I dont have that race.

No, it's a Time Trial, and TT is short for that...it's a trial with a RUF RGT...

I left my PS2 on all night, so it probably would've been on for about 18 hours.

don't worry how much you are off by, i was 2-3 seconds off the TT in gran turismo 1 (grifith on SSR11, international A) and i had NO idea where i could make up the time, then one time i ran a perfect run. it didn't feel especially fast, it was just clean (virtually no sliding or wide corners) and i beat my previous time by about 10 seconds! :D heh

Yeh I remember that one I thought no way I'll never do it but then cruised it, had the same thing on the Cote licence test in GT3 only took a few attempts in the end.:)

I know someone's not going to like me for this, but...I passed the Complex String time trial on the very first try. :D It was the last one I had to do, and I remembered in the license tests that I had to do the stupid ones involving the snake section about 100 times before I got it right. I don't know what to say, I haven't ever tried it again. After I passed it on that first try I was just like - :odd: - and then very cautiously saved and went to bed contemplating whatever it was that I did right to deserve accomplishing that on my first run. Still one of the oddest things to happen to me to date.

Go as fast as that litle ***** of an RUF will go over the up and down bit, If you go slow across there you will fail.....just go hard and be crazy.....worked for me!!

I finally beat TT10 the other night after a second 90-minute session, with a time of 4':51.low". Not stellar by any means but solidly under the gold time. Almost every turn - and certainly every tight turn - is critical, due to the length of the following straights. As every extra mph/kmh you can carry is a bonus.

The first turn can be a solid foundation for a good run. I brake firmly about halfway between the first two brake markers, downshifting slowly rather than jamming the gears down. A little Scandinavian Flick while the car still has momentum and a goose in 2nd gear gets it rotated and ready to accelerate.

I hold third through the Slalom until the very end. The first right can be taken flat out; then immediately after each apex lift for just a fraction and start turning into the next curve before you complete the current one. The single cone at each curve marks the apex, and you want to brush the rumble strip just after this cone - but at that point, you should already be starting to steerin into the next turn. If you're turning in at each cone you're too late. The last two are a little wonky and even though you'll be nudging the rev limiter, don't upshift to 4th until you apex the next-to-last cone (a right). Take the last one flat out in 4th and edge the grass on the right, but brake early for the exit 90 and get a hard late-apex in second gear. This gave me a T1 time in the 50.high" range IIRC.

The Box turns are important. On numerous occasions I came into this section 0.5x"-1.x" ahead on my T1 time, only to leave that section with red numbers on my T2. For some reason, successfully completing that section but losing time was more frustrating than blowing it by driving too aggressively. Take each pair of turns (two rights, for example) as one turn, with a big loopy line that flows smoothly through this section by clipping each corner and brushing the outside edge in the middle of each short straight between the two apexes. I will offer two points here: you want to exit the second half of each corner pair tight to the inside rather than wide, to give you the most room to get the car shifted over to the opposite rotation. Also, going too deep over the corner curbs will bounce the rear of the car, a risky proposition that occasionally pays off but usually means a FAIL or else time lost trying to gather it up again. I believe I had a T2 time of about 2':00" on the money.

For the Bubbles, I stay in first for the first turn-and-a-half, second for the second turn-and-a-half, and third for the third turn-and-a-half, upshifting to 4th when I can start to see daylight. Again, the key is to exit tight to give the most breathing room for the transition to the next turn, except the last one. When you shift up to 4th you can relax the steering to ease out wide for more acceleration. Adjust your line with sharp but brief lifts to tuck the nose in, then get back on the gas hard.

I downshifted to 4th and turned left on the upsweep of the first Hoopdie, then tried to hold 4th flat out through this whole section. The car was not too happy on the compression/landing phase of the first turn but otherwise it was remarkably composed. You are totally dependent on course notes here because the only way to survive is to turn in blind before the suspension unloads. If you're out of shape here a slight lift will help, but try to minimize it to carry maximum speed. The chute leading out of this section is deceptively short, so brake almost as soon as the car recovers from the last turn, in preparation for the upcoming double-apex left 180.

The only trick left is to brake early for the little offset in the middle of the next-to-last straight, in order to smooth out that combination as much as possible, again by clipping the corners. Take the last sweeper by braking early but staying in third gear, and keep as much throttle on as possible without washing out until the second half of the turn. Every mph/kmh counts in exit speed here, because it's still many seconds to the finish line.

The RGT is perectly suited to this track and challenge. Both the course and the car demand a lot but give a lot back. Having spent about 3 hours on this (almost my only exposure to CS), I never really got frustrated and was able to watch a steady drop of 10 or 11 seconds from my first completed lap to success!

Good luck!
