Despite its rather bulky weight, this Z4 M still handles like a dream, there's tonnes and tonnes of grip, and when you do push it too far, there's subtle understeer to let you know you've annoyed it, and slight oversteer when you're impatient on the throttle on corner exit.

The lighter, more graceful RUF does things a bit differently to its Z4 partner. A gentle slide out of every corner will leave you with a smile on your face, and will get you round tracks very quickly.

A bit of a lull in activity here, partly due to my lack of tunes recently. Lost some of the initial inspiration shall we say. Anyway, no idea what to tune next, so if you have any requests, now is the time to make them. :)

Going to try the Izuzu out tonight :) It's a beautiful car, along with the TOYota 800 ;) if you're taking requests, could you have a go at tuning the '99 FF Celica? ZZsomethingorother. It feels really solid, but could do with a bit of a shake up, make it a bit more... Drifty and lively, I'll probably do a review of the 117 in a couple of days :)

Isuzu is gorgeous, although for old Japanese classics the Toyota 2000GT takes the cake easily. This one drives well too, although it isn't a full tune and is lacking things like the custom LSD since it was a shootout spec tune. :P

I'll give it a go, it shouldn't be too hard, depends when I next get a chance to play on the PS3 however. Rest assured it will be done though.

Thankyou! Just, driving it now. Its such a smooth car, expect a review! Love the Garage BTW, great layout!

Thanks :) I worked hard to create a good looking template for each car banner, and they've turned out well. A miracle considering my meagre Photoshopping abilities. :P

If you came looking for a 550PP track tune for the C5 Vette', this isn't it.
What this is is a rally going version of the C5 Vette road car. It's completely bonkers, and doesn't entirely work, but Turismo M.G. threw down a gauntlet in the Car Of The Week 17/08/12:

Aaahh, the 'Vette. The beautiful muscle car.

I really like this car. I have several of them in varying states of tune and it is one of very few cars that does everything well - drifts, handles on track, drags, tunes, rallying...

Well maybe not rallying, but definitely the rest.

And I couldn't resist but try.

Entry to Winner of (:P) Nomis' 40/60 Shootout, this tune works at 500PP too, just adjust the power limiter accordingly. A lovely lovely handling car that's deceptively quick. If you're a manual shifter, shift early to avoid the powerband drop at around 7000rpm.

As promised - a review - starting with the Autobacs Garaiya '02. In terms of looks one of the most interesting cars in the game in my humble opinion - the only shame being GT putting so little thought into a more tasteful rear wing.

Putting it all together my factory fresh example turned out in rather ruder health than yours, so I needed to shave 3PP off via the power limiter (maybe it's that makes it go faster matt red paint that was to blame) ;)

I tried it at R246, on TM, in London and at CRP. As you promise grip levels are high. Very much so. In fact it is almost impossible to unstick the car on anything relatively smooth but deliberate attempts at TM, or kerb hopping in London may get the rear loosened up a little bit. The front grip is excellent at lower to middle speeds, with the car stoically neutral but in slightly faster corners the front does eventually slowly let go. Luckily the engine is rarely game enough to produce that.

Which would bring us to the weak point of the package. While the gear ratios are seamless enough the engine just does not have the required poke to extract more from the chassis. I suppose it is primarily the lack of torque that holds the car back here - it could well work better closer to its ultimate power...

So while all tracks were a real doddle to drive the times were held back by that strained engine - on the faster stuff like the R246 and the CRP my best 500PP times were around 3 secs faster than what I managed with the little Autobacs, at TM around 1.5 secs, and at London - the much slower track - practically on par. And it is not really suited to anything faster than Tokyo, as it was topping out there already even if you only had a little bit of slipstream.

Given the pretty but not exactly magical basis you had to work with here, the car turned out fairly nice. Certainly something that will ease a novice driver into MRs, or a car one would take for endurance races but the ultimate speed is simply robbed by the weaknesses inherent in the basic car. 👍

Thanks for the review, top drawer stuff from you as always! 👍

I agree with what you say actually, it's a car for the twisties rather than the faster circuits, and the gearbox is tuned to top out at about 160-170mph, if not lower, maximising acceleration and leaving the top end somewhat lacking, but I mean, you wouldn't take an Elise to La Sarthe, you'd take something like an AMG Mercedes if you wanted top speed. The principle is the same.

Another fast one - namely of the Mitsubishi HSR-II Concept '89. First off, you seem to have a knack for picking similar cars to tune that I have previously requested as custom tunes, which is certainly pleasing for me but also invites some direct comparison with a certain outfit from the far North ;)

Back to the car. I love the idea and the looks but the reality of the bewinged Mitsubishi (must surely be the ideological predecessor of the Pagani Huayra) is rather less pleasing. You mentioned the five speed gearbox but what holds it back even more is the weight distribution and the inability to fit a torque distributing centre differential.

So as it is you get a car that is sure footed, fast on the straights but terminally understeery (although yours is certainly less so than the stock form) and not exactly the sharpest tool in the 500PP shed, nor anywhere near the fastest.

If I compare your tune to a certain private one of the same car, certain differences are apparent. First off, it stays with the stock weight and weight distribution, which certainly does not help the understeer. I also had to reduce the power quite a bit, as with the parts installed it came to 512PP.

The weight (and its distribution) and a bit of additional power compared to my other one (which is stock power, lighter weight), you get a more understeery version of the same thing. It is safe and predictable, the rear end will never throw a wobbly and the only difficulty will be in judging quite when to apply more throttle - early enough to power out of the corner but not so early as to have the front wash wide.

Looking at where I lose time with yours compared to the other one on Tokyo R246 it is in the first corner, which I can only take at a slower pace (about 0,5 secs lost in the first sector), the next one where I lost time being the Shuto Ko Expressway (corner 4, a second) and finally at the Shuto Ko (corner 9) and at Akasaka Mitsuke (corner 10, for a total of another half a sec in the last sector). So the long sweepers all suffer from the front not havie required grip and there is no way for one to get the back to play, so...

It is definitely a stable tune but quite a bit slower than the Autobacs (in my hands around 1.5 secs a lap at R246) or my Nordic HSR (around 2 secs a lap). I suggest you try to reduce weight and play with some ballast as an additional tool to dial out understeer some more 👍 (but then again I am but an egg and not at all proficient in tuning) :)

It's funny you mention that HSR, I was half happy with it when I released it, but I'm not at all happy with it now. As you say, understeer is it's inherent problem, I might revise that one at some point when I can get on GT5 again.

Any news on the status of your PS3? Will certainly take a look at your other cars, may have a chance this weekend, and reviews shall follow :)

As of now it's pretty dead. :( I might be getting a new one for Christmas though, so fingers crossed.
