right, there are some unbelieveable gran turismo racers in this forum - route_66 and famine spring to mind straight away. i am always amazed by the many members skills when it comes to the game, and i wonder if anyone has managed to grab this slew of firsts all in one go.

the challenge is to complete gran turismo 4 with all golds, without buying a single car, have over 100,000 aspec points, no b-spec points, and have a winning percentage at least 75%. to make things a little tougher, this challenge must be completed in the fewest days possible, and with the least distance travelled. NO REVERTING BACK TO SAVES ALLOWED!

is this impossible? i dont know. i know, i cant do this (yet), but once i complete gt4, i aim to try and do this. in the mean time, im throwing down the guantlet to all the gran turismo gods in this forum - come on and try and crack this challenge! imo, this is the ultimate gt4 challenge!

the usual methods of proof will be required.

Well, first question: Is it even possible to hit 100% completion without buying a car? Aren't there a few little manufacturers' events that require it?

(I'll let somebody else talk about completing every enduro in A-Spec...)

EDIT: Ya beat me to it, Div!

I have a life and am doing all the enduros in A-spec. 6hr left on the Nurb24 - and the PS2 has been on for 5 straight days...

No, it's not possible to complete without buying a car.

First car you have to get is a Pick Up Truck.

Also need a car for one of the Japanese Events...You can get up to like 58% without buying a car though.

then i guess the only way to do this is figure out how many cars MUST be bought, then allow ONLY those to be bought.

it could work.

this only took a few minutes of looking at a prize car list:
-Chrysler Crossfire
-Subaru 360
-any truck
-Toyota Vitz/Yaris/Echo
-any Isuzu
-Mazda Miata/MX-5/Roadster
-any(?) Aston Martin
-Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220
-any TVR
-Daihatsu Midget
-Daihatsu Copen
-Honda Civic Type R (for both the Civic race and the type R race)
-Mitsubishi Mirage
-any Nissan kei car (for the March brothers race, there's a bunch of cars that I don't remember the names of that qualify. I don't think you can win any of them)
-any Suzuki kei car
-Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS
-Saleen S7
-any Shelby (IIRC, they all qualify for the Cobra cup)
-Audi TT
-Audi A3
-either BMW 1 series
-Lotus Elise
-Mercedies-Benz SL class (you can win both MB races with it)
-either MG
-Peugeot 206
-Renault Clio
-Renault Megane
-Triumph Spitfire
-VW Beetle
-any VW GTI

There may be some races that a prize car can enter, but probably not win, that I missed. There may also be some peculiaritys of qualification I didn't see, but this gives you a good idea of how impossible it is to get 100% without buying anything.

edited, thanks Studentdriver.

That's a good list, but: You could win both the Civic and Type R races with a Civic Type R, I'm sure. Also, the early 80's Isuzu qualifies for the Isuzu race. And the C1 will win the Vette race, and without much effort, just a ton of mods is all.

Id give it a go but im already using b-spec to do the endurence races.
me and 3 friends are going to do one of the 24H races in a-spec which should be a larf

To even start to play GT4, you have to buy a car

I did this, almost, b-spec the 24 hour races only
100% w/ 80+% W/L 👍 :sly: approx. 1300 days (darn missions)

There are a couple of cars that you get later on that you would need at the beginning

If you start at the begininng (no license) and run all the available races then get your first license (B1) etc. you will have to buy alot of cars early on for the manufactures races and will have to rerun certain ones just for the credits to buy the ones you need.

You don't have to buy a car to race until about 58% in, but you cannot unlock extreme hall without buying a car, as you need a Pick Up Truck to finish the Beginner hall.

The cars from even bronze can win plenty of races...Sunfire, 270r, etc.
