Mercedes-AMG's second exclusive model

After doing so with the SLK 55 AMG just recently, engineers are now making the CLK 63 AMG even sportier: They are about to develop an exclusive, emphatically puristic special series, a car that sets new standards in handling dynamics – the CLK 63 AMG Black Series - and not the CLK Facelift as previously reported. With the AMG 6.2-litre V8 engine, which has been boosted to 530 bhp, the numerous lightweight components, 19-inch AMG forged wheels, AMG adjustable sports suspension and AMG high-performance composite brakes, the special CLK 63 AMG brings its sports car talents to bear even more convincingly – and cuts an impressive figure especially on racing circuits.

Broad, brawny and low-slung – it's clear at first glance that the CLK 63 AMG Black Series is something very special. It offers a captivating view from the front with a redesigned AMG front apron and its broad openings, which supply the added transmission-oil cooler and the high-performance steering-oil cooler with plenty of fresh air. In addition, new side outlets made of carbon – still disguised in our pictures – ensure effective ventilation for the engine-oil coolers. The front wings, now wider, are made of reinforced plastic with ultra-light carbon-fibre composite material and feature black outlined air outlets.

The combination of low vehicle weight and a powerful AMG eight-cylinder engine ensures first-class performance. This CLK 63 AMG Black Series accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in only 4.5 seconds (standard model: 5.2 s). Power transmission is accomplished using the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC with manual drive program ("M") and AMG aluminium gearshift paddles on the steering wheel.

Godamn I no longer want the RS4 anymore and couldnt care less about the M3. This cars crazyyyy:crazy:

The bodykit is too busy. The details are ones I see on riced out Corsas.

Yeah, but the inside, unlike on riced-out Corsas, is matching...

Madness. I won't see one here in Israel, sadly. A car-journalist once had his licence taken away because he test-drove the 55AMG under the legal speeds - the four exausts simply alerted people nearby, who called the police and told them "A racing-car is driving here". Idiots...

I'm still sore from the S55 Black Edition not being considered.

hmmmmm..... looks meaty! Love Mercs! although the black air slats behind the front wheel reminded instantly of the MG ZS and SV style..... dont know whether thats good or not!

BTW..... I own a corsa .....

Not too far off, right? ;)

It may be over the top, but it's definitely what AMG needs: more total badass cars. The bodykit is a bit gaudy, and not really what I'd want from Mercedes, but if they get rid of the black panel on the side and simply open up the bumper around the exhaust, it'd be perfect enough for me. The only real improvement I can think of is for AMG to develop a good SMG/DSG transmission. A manual would be okay for the SLK/C-class cars, but the larger sedans & coupes still seem to cry "what's this third pedal for?"

Nah. You paid so much for an upgraded powerfull limited-edition Mercedes, AMG Tuned, you gotta have a third pedal. It's a rip-off without it! The regular econo-hatch gets three, and a Mercedes doesn't? What did they just pay for?

That's why I'm in favor of a DSG/SMG-type setup. It still allows the typical Mercedes owner to woofle around town with one arm out the window, but also has the harder-edged performance of something that does without a torque converter. And a sequential is hardly cheap, thus adding to the "it's more expensive, so it's better" mystique that Mercedes seems to love. :)

I'll take mine with out the body kit or the circa 1999 rims either. And can you also hold the mayo this time too?

I'd buy one mainly for its engine. Just listen to it!

But yeah, I do agree that it looks quite similar to that MG XPower SV...
