I have never heard of TK, but I listened to a song of his on Youtube, and I found his music... meh, alright but not that interesting. Also, since this genre is not really (never was) a liking to me.

I sometimes think of rap as a rough version of hip hop sometimes. If you compare a few hip hop songs and a few rap songs. You may hear the comparison.

I think he means by this :
Hip-hop

vs
Rap

(The freestyle is definitly NSFW)
I though I don't think I could provide better examples.
I think its hard to distinguish Rap from Hiphop

Not even close LOL the game is definitely rap.

Hip hop would be something like de la soul, jurassic 5, Talib Kweli, N.A.S.A

While rap would be more like: jay-z, eminem, etc.

Anyway back to the artist at hand, I didn't nominate him but I'll post some more good vids.

Another personal favorite from the album: Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Blackstar

Not a fan of Hip-hop,Rap style music.I have to go with "take up a new profession".Not because of the this particular genre of music, but after listening to this artist,he just does not appeal to me.

No, you've got it all wrong.
Any Rap that is mainstream material is considered Hip-hop.
Any Rap that isn't mainstream is just Rap.

One out of many examples, Born In The USA, was not that patriotic.

Is that what you look for in songs? I take it you don't like Eminem's "Mosh" then, because it's a song against George W. Bush.

The blackstar stuff with Mos Def is classic. Never got too into his solo stuff, but he is miles ahead of most rappers.

edit: Off topic, but Born in The USA is an amazing song. If you think it's "not patriotic" then your definition of patriotism seems to be just going along with the current position of whatever government is in power. Singing a song bringing attention to the plight of Vietnam vets and putting forth a position that you think it's best for your country to not be in a particular situation is very patriotic, in my opinion, because it's evidence that you care enough about yourself and your country/environment to critically evaluate them and then give your ideas on how to improve them. It just doesn't have the sheep mentality "government says we should be there so they must be right" quality.

TK:
Yo I was sold to a sick European by a rich African battlin'
Middle Passages, I can't go back again
Battlin' years of denyin' history, lies and mysteries
Wives with misty eyes watchin' their *****s be beaten viciously
Battlin the wilderness of North America
Ran by the river, only stoppin' to pray
Chased by predators
Terrorists with etiquette who vote and kill their president
Their capacity for evil so evident and prevalent
Ain't no hesitation involved, a nation dissolved
While we sit back waitin' to evolve
Those who would trade in their freedom
For their protection deserve neither
**** a name, **** tradition
Religion - you learn Jesus
Turn the other cheek
Inherit the Earth, just stay meek
**** the way you speak
Try to walk, we chop off your feet
Fastforward to 2003, *****s beef
The psychology of children of slaves it run deep

Deep lyrics with nothing about ho's, booties, how much bling he has, or what neighborhood he is from. Take that, other rappers.
