Inconsistent Entry Requirements?

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering, have PD missed some entry requirements. For example, I just entered B-Spec Bob into the "World Compact Championship" (or whatever it's called) in a R32 (Skyline). I'm pretty sure the R32 isn't "compact".

Where is the wheelbase length requirement? I've noticed the lack-of-requirement on a few events... Is this intended for some reason?

I was wondering that myself. I completed the Hot Hatch competition with an M3...wtf?!

Also, I'm on Expert at the moment and I have yet to see any license requirements. Did they forget to add them?

Yeah... There are no license requirements.

I don't get the point of the license system now... I understand levels replace licensing, but why is it still there?

Levels should dictate what cars you can drive, whilst licenses should dictate which events you can enter :(

The licenses seem irrelevant in this game due to the A-Spec/B-Spec level requirement for each race.

The game seems to be geared towards the newcomer to racing. The Special Events are very tutorish, as are the license challenges (rightly so). It still leaves progression open for those of us who know what we're doing (mostly, as I watch it continue to not let me tweak my gear ratios specifically).

Also - I did the Hot Hatch series in a Ferrari. Yeah, the entry requirements are very vague, but use that to your advantage. I've been doing most of the Japanese series using the CASTROL Tom Supra. The idea seemed to be to be less restrictive on the challenges. If you have the car, then by all means use it. Who are they to say that you can't take the Ferrari F1 to the Sunday Cup, when they advertise it as an "All Comers" event?

It seems like they really dropped the ball on the events. I mean, I'm already on Expert, is there anything above extreme? With tighter event requirements, they could have made the rather small selection of events more drawn out.

With any luck, there'll be more events coming in updates.

See... Whilst I'm sitting here watching Bob finish an event, I'm perfecting my system :)

Think of it this way: Events would have a license requirement. Which means, if you got all the licenses first, you could enter the GT All Stars event first. However, you may need a level 20 car (at least) to come close to winning, therefore the event isn't restricted, but rather, just harder. Which also means, you can then reward those people who complete harder events, at lower levels.

This means the newcomer can progress as easily as they like, whilst a pro can make it harder, but more rewarding. This systems also opens up reward opportunities, special cars for special challenges, something like "prize for beating an event FIVE LEVELS higher than you".

On top of this, it also eliminates a lot of the "grind" from the game, because you can always try a harder event, get a bigger payout and good EXP, even if you don't finish first. You'd get A LOT of EXP from getting podium in a race that would be impossible to place first. It always has the option open and as such, there's none of the "I've got this level and finished the events, now what? Do the same event again and again?"

Further, cars would only have level ENTRY requirements. It shouldn't restrict you BUYING the car. Of course you can buy it, perhaps you can even use it in practice. But you just can't enter into events with it.

My system is perfect. PD, come take this and implement it. Free of charge!

I look at the list of typical opponents and limit myself to those cars or similar. I'm working on a spread sheet right now that has the limits as well as the HP/KGS of cars your up against so you can make it a fair race... if you want close racing. If PD locked the game down with tight restrictions people would complain so most of the races are pretty open once you reach the right level.

Yer it does seem to be that way have PD simply forgot to actually set the entry requirements? Im the European hot hatch section of Amateur A-spec, I can choose basically any European car to compete with. Im pretty sure my mid engine supercar is not a hatch...:dopey:

I had the same thing in the Compact Cup thing, My B spec driver used the Stealth R10 xD Overkill much?

Yeah, I noticed this. I did the World Compact series in my Stealth SLS AMG. :)
But I made more money and did it in the new Golf, so it was more evenly matched.

About this entry requirement thing, somehow my sls 300gullwing and my shellby cobra (both chromeline) arn't allowed in either the muscle or historic championships.

And yet the Ford Focus, which is a European designed and built car and nothing to do with Ford USA, is not eligible for the Euro hot hatch series.
