"Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday!"
Vintage Muscle Car Series
picture.php

This is a little bit of a revival of a 60s70s NASCAR series I was hosting a few months back.
Series will begin September 25th. Races will be held on Sunday nights @ 9pm cdt.
Race nights would include one group of cars.
You will not be asked to develope only one car during the series.
There will be a list of cars and as long as you choose from the listing you are okay.
So changing cars race to race will be fine.
Series format shall be simple. Points system will be simple. Simplicity will be key to this series.
And prize cars, tickets and paint, etc. will be awarded to winners.

Example of the car classes (based off of months of vigorous testing at Daytona). note that I still need to test at Indy. This is just a thought. I may switch to just one car list and run unrestricted. I feel these 2 groups work well for Daytona. I'm not sure at Indy, I have tested there but not 100% complete. And as for a road course a pp level will probably be prefered. Now that just over complicates things so I'm going to try to keep this as simple as can be. So this is just an example and is deemed to change.

CLASS 1
828hp 998kg
avg. solo top speeds 205mph - 215mph
avg. 43sec - 44sec laps

AC Cars 427 S/C
Trans-Cammer
Superbird
Cougar XR-7
Pontiac GTO
Ford GT40
Super Bee
Mark IV Race Car
Mustang Mach 1
Art Morrison Corvette

CLASS 2
823hp 1055kg
avg. solo top speeds 195mph - 205mph
avg. 45sec - 46sec laps

Challenger R/T RM
Challenger R/T
Chevelle SS
Stingray L46 350
Corvette C2 Coupe
Camaro SS
Charger 440 R/T
Shelby GT350R

Other cars not listed would fall into this placement:

CLASS 3
Unrestricted
avg. solo top speeds 220mph +
avg. 41sec - 42sec laps

Shelby Cobra 427
Buick Special
Z06 Race Car
Cuda 440 Six Pack

CLASS 4
583hp 1085kg
avg. solo top speeds 190mph - 195mph
avg. 47sec - 48sec laps

Corvette C3 Convertible
Camaro Z28
Camaro Z28 RM

or drop the slow classes, therefore combine 1 & 3 but drop the Cobra's & Buick

Another thought I had with this would to maybe have a championship tier. For example winner's of Kalmiya's Trans-Am Series race along with JLawrence's Vintage Sports Car Series and the winner's of this series, Kinda wrap the 3 series together in the end for an all out Race of Champions Event. Then they could receive some kind off bad a$$ title and could be sanctioned by the ORB???

Something off-topic a little:

Who wants to throw down sometime this week?? I would like to do a Vintage LeMans Race. Anyone else? Just like 5 laps at Sarthe. Cars allowed: GT40, Mark IV, 2D Race Car, Z06 Race Car, Camaro Z28 RM, Challenger R/T RM, AC Cobra, Shelby Cobra, Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2 carrozzata...., & Ferrari P4.
Maybe we can gain some interest this way?

I threw this out there in the Spot Racing section:

Here's a starting event maybe we can hook-up with this one and start racing?!.......

1967 World SportsCar Championship Round 7
35th Grand Prix of Endurance
-24 Hours of LeMans

7 of 8 Rounds of the International Championship for Sports-Prototypes & SportsCars Div.2&3

picture.php
Track Edge Real, Mechanical Damage Light,
Penalties Off (cheaters will be kicked & disregarded) & No Chicanes

Unrestricted Tuning & Tires

Date/Time: ???? TBD
5 Laps - May add a few more laps if decided by majority.

Prizes awarded for winner in each Division (Prototype, SportsCar & Grand Touring).
Run any car you want listed, if everyone is in prototypes then there is only one winner.
But if say everyone runs a prototype except one driver, then that lower classed driver would automatically win a prize as long as they finish the race. I'm really only expecting the Prototypes & SportsCar classes to get filled. Just trying something different and it's Unrestricted, so go crazy!!

Cars allowed:
Prototypes: GT40, Mark IV, 2D Race Car, 2J Race Car, Toyota 7 & Ferrari P4 Race Car
SportsCars: Z06 Race Car, AC Cobra, Shelby Cobra, Jaguar XJ13 Race Car & Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2
Grand Touring: Camaro Z28 RM, Challenger R/T RM, Stingray L46, Mach 1, GT350R & Ferrari 512BB

I wanted to promote this series by having en event at la sarthe, and that's what all that Vintage LeMans post is about. And there seems to be some more hype in that thread. Not that it matters, but I would like to possibly recruit those guys in to this series. As of right now we have 6 guys and would like at least 6 more. The schedule I'm trying to work out on the Vintage LeMans thread (which will be our first race, kinda a preseason) is like this:

Sunday night ~8pm cdt till no later than 9:00-9:30pm cdt
crazy
dowhat
marlux
SpitRacer
GTO
maybe...Knelly??
maybe...akmuq??
maybe...diaba??

and of course, I still need to hear from Furi, GTM, Bkmar & Flsurffisher.

Also, I'm curious as to car choices you guys will be making. Are we all driving prototypes for the most part?? Just want to know if I should add a few more cars there??

I moved this thread over to the Clubs & Leagues Section since I put some things in stone.

Scratch that, I moved it to the Racing Series Forums.

I might do a performance level with this series of about 600-620pp. I need to do further testing to confirm this. This would be to just tighten the top speeds of all the cars a little better. But most of the cars on the list hold tightly together. So this pp setting would not really make much of a noticeable difference to your car or performance. Most of these cars are from 580pp-620pp already.

I dunno if you're wanting us to decide on cars, but I will be running one or both Cobras

No, I was planning on running this loosely as possible. You won't be asked to develope only car. You can switch cars in-between every race for all I care, as long as it's on the list. Example - Run the Cobra at Daytona but run the camaro at indy or the camaro on a road course but the mach 1 at Daytona. Any combination is fine. A good reason for this would be say if everyone is in a camaro at daytona i'll drive the gt350r but say everyone takes the cobra at daytona I'll hop in the Z06. This way kinda gives everyone a little advantage without one driver having a total advantage throughout the night.

I'm still undecided if I should leave the tuning unrestricted which I know will work good or if I place a 600pp limit on all cars on the list thus limit some engine power to the beastly cars. Any opinions?

Took race #3 out for each week. No custom tracks. Just 1 oval & 1 road course a night.

Edit:

I'm also thinking of dropping some cars out of the list.

I was thinking of giving this a makeover. Take a look in a few and tell me what you think.

Was also deciding on a new car list

May look like:

Trans-Cammer
Superbird
Cougar XR-7
Pontiac GTO
Super Bee
Mustang Mach 1
Cuda 440 Six Pack
Charger 440 R/T
Camaro Z28
Shelby GT350R

So I would eliminate Race Cars and RM's, keep it just street cars that ran NASCAR (Dodge,Chevy,Ford)

Also to kill the overpowering Cuda, Superbird, SuperBee, Cougar, Mach 1 & Trans Cam I am thinking of putting a pp limit on this. I think a limit of 560-580pp would be sufficient. I don't think a HP & KG restriction would work well here. I will further test this before I place this restriction upon this series.

I dunno if you're wanting us to decide on cars, but I will be running one or both Cobras

I kind of want to drop the Cobra and stick to 60s70s NASCAR stock/street cars. But this is all up in the air and subject to change. Would you have a second pick if this is decided?

I cleaned up the car list, sorry no vettes or cobras and added a performance level of 550 so the cars listed will only top near 200mph while driving solo. Also regulated Racing Hard Tires.
