Hey guys,

after all this time with GT5 and FM3, It is impossible for me to go back to 30 FPS. Do you feel the same?

F12010, Shift2, Supercar Challenge... All that games hurts my eyes

And pls no discussion that GT5 has only 59,4 FPS or whatever...

Racing wise, yes. Other games, not a problem.

I love 60fps games as I feel for racing and first person shooters, it is almost always a must.

My exception to this is Dirt 3 and NFS:HS as those run at 30fps, which for some reason just doesn't bother me with half the frames of GT5. They are such fun, stylized games, that the framerate never seems to bother me in those.

Love 60 FPS.

Love F1.

They don't mix, but I wouldn't kick either out of bed.

Insteresting... I have been playing Exotics DLC on Shift 1 (:dopey:) as well as other non racing games but that doesn't bother me...I guess...at least not as much as the ice sliding behaviour of cars...

Not even when I play in my crap PC at 20 or less FPS

Do yourself a favour, and stop reading these kinds of threads. If you don't you will start to notice these kinds of things, and they will start to annoy you at some point.

I've been reading people saying a lot of things about FPS for years, and it hasn't affected me yet. I actually think a lot of games(not usually racing games) look rather lousy at 60fps, much smoother and more organic at a slightly lower framerate. It just makes some movements look fake and stiff, somehow.

60 is nice and well and good for racing games, but not totally necessary. I'm told by some folks that rFactor is virtually unplayable below 100fps, but give me anything over 20 and I'll get by just fine. 30-40 and I won't even complain.

I rarely notice a difference if I'm very very concentrated on the game same with screen tearing. However if I watch a friend playing I notice tearing and slight FPS drops. Trust me, I can't play Just Cause 2 anymore knowing this stuff happens more than people being born.

Nope, I don't find it difficult at all to go back to 30 FPS.

Ever since I started playing GT5 at 59,4 FPS I cant even watch movies any more at the slow standard rate of 24/25 FPS... In fact yesterday I went to a movie theater and demanded my money back... but the guy at the box office sad that I was mad and that the standard rate is around 30 because the human eye doesnt need much more than that. I told him that he should play GT5 he told me that he had played GT5 and that the screan tearing and poping trees and objects as the strobe tarmac in some tracks were far worse that steady 30 FPS games and films... what an idiot...

Brilliant!!

I don't get a good sense of speed at 60 FPS. I've grown up with games like Need For Speed and PGR, so I'm actually more comfy with 30 FPS.
Don't know if that made sense.

Sorry but that's sad.

I kind agree with the guy about the screen tearing of GT5. After I noticed it the first time, it was all I could do to keep playing it. That's one of the main reasons I just stopped playing it completely. I would rather have lower FPS then screen tearing any day. Another reason I stopped was that I lost my game save when my ps3 died. When I tried to get back into it, all of the bugs in the game just drove me crazy, and one day I realized I hadn't played it in a few weeks. That was the end of the highly anticipated, and very expensive( I built an entire rig just for GT5) game went to the shelf for good.

after reading threads about IRACING FPS, now I can't stopping looking at the top right corner and seeing what my FPS are :guilty::scared::crazy::ouch:

I was being sarcastic for those that didnt get it... I havent been to a movie (out) in a long time... and I rather play a good game with good physics and a good offline and online experience than hotlaping at 59,4 FPS or whatever... if you catch my drift...

30 FPS in racing games is acceptable, not ideal but acceptable as long as the game provides.

30 FPS in FPS is unacceptable, I'm getting BF3 for PS3(along with a brand new PS3, currently holding on Xbox) and I know that the frame rate will slap me in the face, as it did with Crysis 2.

For me it all depends on the game, F1 games do need the 60 FPS, but for thing like GT and NFS 30 is ok as long as it is stable.

I think that the only problem is if the physics are somewhat connected to the FPS....

But theres also this...

If your screen refreshes at 85Hz and your game runs at 50Hz (=50fps): Are you sure that you don't need to synchronize them? Are you sure, you don't need to play with a multiple of 85 to enjoy synchronized refresh updates? So the game running at 85fps may better than at 100fps. Maybe even a TFT display was better. It displays only with about 40fps but progressively.

Meh, I play NHL 11 (now NHL 12) more than any other video game, I'm pretty sure it's at 30fps, but it doesn't bother me.

60 fps is nice but I dont have a problem playing 30 fps games. As long as the game is fun thats what matters most.

Wait until you get a PC game and hit 130+
It´s a totally different dimension ;)

If I have a choice between 60 fps at 720p vs 30 fps at 5760 x 1080 resolution I will choose triple screen every time.

720p only describes the amount of pixels from top to bottom. Meaning you can have 50.000x720p or 1280x720p - it´s the same.

30 fps hasn't ever bothered me in the slightest bit. All about gameplay not graphics. Why restrict what games you'll play for the odd time you'll ever see the difference.

Plus I'll take the graphics boost and better gameplay over fps anyday.

While I definitely notice the framerate drops in F1 2010, this doesn't keep me from playing that game. GT5 suffers no framerate probles far as I know 👍 It is my hope that F1 2011 fixes the bugs at Monaco and Silverstone. 👎

.

I've played Iracing on my laptop with 40 FPS, and now I bought a powerful gaming tower and now I'm running IRACING over 160 FPS. I really can't tell the difference, but now I'm running at almost max eye candy (took shadows off).

My 720p HDTV is not really 720p but 768p. ;)
720p on the back on any console game box (the OP mentions GT5 and Forza3) is normally referring to 1280X720 resolution. GT5 does run 1080p (1280X1080) so I typed out 5760 X 1080 which is only on the PC.
