Put in GT5 today after a couple of day break (F1 2011 was filling the void). I installed update 1.13, as per normal. First thing I do is set a lap in the updates Merc Seasonal, using the chase cam simply because I am faster with that cam doing that challenge. Then i jump into the Supercar Nostalgia seasonal, still in chase cam. Go onto the back straight on Rome, and start cycling through all the cams. As soon as I swapped into any view other than chase, the engine noise stoppped. I could hear other cars and the tyres screeching, but not my engine :odd:

Has this occured with anyone else, or is it just me :(

Check your audio settings. I had this exact same thing happen. Once I switched the audio to 5.1 it was back to normal.

The thing is I have used the same audio set up with out touching the options for ages. The problem has only come about since the 1.13 update.

Yes this happened to me strait after the last ps3 update from sony, somehow it reverted all sound to mono thru the tv I had to reset all digital outputs for my amps in the xmb menu.

Really? I hadn't noticed it after I changed to 3.71, and then the next time I played I installed 1.13 and that's when the issue started. I'll check when i get to my ps3 next.

Umm try it in practice mode or at least when you are alone because when someone near you your engine volume come down soo you can hear the other cars , maybe thats your problem just try it then restart

Try cycling through your inputs on the TV. Every now and then I will get no sound from my PS3 and this does the trick.

Its got nothing to do with being near other cars, Ive been grinding the Le Sarthe seasonal and have no engine noise in any view other then chase cam, regardless of how close I am to another car.

Reseting the console did nothing, as did changing the xmb sound settings. I get every noise bar those engine noises in any front cam other than chase cam :(

I use a 5.1 stereo. As I have said before, I am only missing the engine noise, I still get every other noise.

Hi! Have u tried to clean the blueray?

I had the same problem 2months ago and the reason was the blueray was dirty, i cleaned the gt5 disc with the sunglass towel and the engine sound came back.

Sorry for my english, good luck!

I FIXED IT!!! Turns out redneck was right, I had (unknowingly) switched the audio tool setting on my stereo. Thanks for all your ideas guys.
