OK, this is frustrating as hell and seems to have not changed since GT1...

How other cars can spin me out, but if I bump them it's like they are on rails? WTF?

I was trying to do the sport truck race around Daytona with a stock Tacoma, I could keep up just fine, but the minute one of them touched me I spun out wildly... very annoying, and they just carry on driving as if nothing happened...

Anyone know why this is?

welcome to gtplanet and they have traction control

Hey mate,

Your talking about the AI? If so then yeah it seems like they are on rails because they can perform all complex steering corrections, braking and acceleration calculations within milliseconds, whereas us slow humans may take a second to realise that something has going/gone pear shaped. By then it's already too late.

Keep racing and you'll find your reactions will get quicker.

Have fun.

It's not that Scorp, I drive just fine, next time u racing, try ramming another car as hard as you can and see if it spins out... Bet you it doesn't! :D

Thanks McClaren... I suppose it's just something to live with and will prolly never be changed...

Hasn't since launch, likely won't in the future. This was a big frustration at launch.

You can spin the AI, but you have to be really trying to do it. Otherwise they can recover far quicker than you can and you may end up putting yourself off.

Im pretty sure the computer car are using SRF, it does it to you also if you use it. You're nearly unspunnable.

Technically, the AI use no aids at all. But then since the AI are the aids, they use all of them.

Famine

Wait... what?

Nicely done.

Indeed. Seems nonsensical on the face of it but makes perfect sense.

If you watch any AI - even your own Bob - you'll never see TCS in action (I'm not sure how visible other aids are - never use them to see them working) because no AI driver has TCS enabled. But TCS in the game is simply the game applying an AI algorithm to detect wheel slip and reduce throttle input. The AI do that themselves because they use the same algorithms.

So they don't use aids at all - the aids are not selected. But they are the aids.

The sad part is that, even with perfect throttle control, braking and all the Godmode aids available, they still drive like imbeciles.

This is the full answer to the topic! 👍

That and the fact that the AI works based on the engine and not acting like a real person.

So, since they are the computer - think of it like and actual car ECU. It knows the millisecond any tire is slipping, as well as what all the driver inputs are, and INSTANTANIOUSLY adjusts and can know if it is fixed until recovered. Just like a real-life TCS/ASM system.

AI also doesn't have reaction time like humans, where on average it is 0.500 seconds for a human to interpret an action, move your limbs to move the pedals/wheel, the computer to interpret those inputs and apply them to the game engine. Then you still have to 'feel' if you have corrected and start again if still sliding.

I found this really frustrating on the A-Spec Seasonal event in Nurburgring Nordschleife. Some times the line up of the cars means the middle of the field has a big back log, and getting past them is almost impossible to do quickly because if they nudge you in a MR car you will spin out with next to no chance to correct yourself.

As soon as you jump into a heavier 4wd car however like the r35 TC you can take it all in your stride.
