Just installed my new 500 GB internal and I pop in GT5 and I get a black screen. Nothing is happening. I know that the PS3 is working because PSN notifications are still operating but the game is not loading. Anybody know what to make of this?

I have very limited knowledge when it comes to these things, but just a suggestion, did u format the HD?

That's happends to me also ;)

Click on the PS button and exit game and then return :)

Actually I made a mistake. Other games are having difficulty loading as well.

I have this problem occasionally, and I always find turning my PS3 off via the button first, then by the plug socket for a bit helps. However, if you have a 'fat' PS3, turn off the switch at the back. I have a lot of games downloaded from the PS Store to my HDD and since I've had these, my PS3 has been slower at times. Try taking the disc(s) out, turning the PS3 off, turning it back on and retrying. It may also be worth disconnecting the PS3 from the internet completely (not just signing out of PSN) and trying to load games.
I hope this helps!

Actually I think I found the problem and it was due to a faulty restore. The system locked up at 76% complete so I hit "cancel" but upon the restart everything was there so I assumed that it was completed. Apparently it wasn't 100% so the hard drive couldn't fully read the games.

Was it a new hard drive or a second rate "shady" buy? They get damaged VERY VERY easily as I work with them at work.. A simple couple "taps" as if tapping the top of a soda can can chip its internal disc sometimes causing it to only partially work as you described :(

All fixed thankfully. Drive fully installed and now operates perfectly.
