I have been thinking about replacing the windshield on my car since it has a crack and the place I went to said it could not be fixed because of the size. I would prefer going with OEM since I would probably lose the dot matrix and some other things so it would probably end up looking cheap. On the other hand the OEM one is more than 1K so it's hard to justify that much for a small crack. This brings me here to ask the opinion of the GTPlanet community if the crack is fixable and I just went to the wrong place or if I'm 🤬 and have to replace it.

I forgot what they are called but there's a company who fills cracks in windshields. Insurance is supposed to cover everything.

The problem with those is that they don't exist here in PR. I know a couple of places I could try but I just want to know the opinion on here if I end up trying to fill it myself with a kit as last resort before buying a new one

It does look like it's repairable, the stuff you buy in the store is basically the same stuff they use in a shop. If you are driving the car around it can make the crack spread and then it would have to be replaced.

That looks entirely fixable with a kit or at a shop, no need to waste 1k on a new one for that. Just dont go driving around like that or it will get really big quickly. However, is the a bulge on the inside of the windshield from the mark going the whole way through, because that isn't really fixable then.

The car has been driven for about a year with that crack and nothing has really happened so I guess it's not that bad. The crack does not go through all the way and you can barely feel it at some parts

If it didnt go through and youve been driving for a while with it then its definitely something that can be fixed, no worries about getting a new one just patch that one up.👍

Why worry? We've had trucks before with cracks across the whole windshield and left them like that for years.

My car has one across it, my friends car has one about that size. No one ever fixes them really.

But yes, fixable, there's a place that advertises around here, "Speedy Glass" or someone like that and they inject this clear liquid into the crack and it disappears. Small ones like that only of course.

EDIT: Found the video, just an example of something to consider, right? :)

Yeah I've taken some decent sizes hits the cracked the windshield on our truck and left it for a year or so.

It should be repairable, but it would be very difficult if other companies will not fix it for you due to it's size. I think that you should file a complaint and tell them to fix it since it's smaller than a coin and yet it's too big for the windscreen to be repaired.
