Hope so. Might add a Buttkicker and a TH8 RS shifter in the future. :)

Just tried to play racing games with manual gears for the first time since...uh..."ever". The GT-R (switched to GT rim) let me down quite a bit, I was shifting too fast and I kept spinning out because of that. I'll get back to the Ring later on, I guess. So I opted to pay a visit to Spa in an F2007 (switched back to F1 rim) and learned how to do it. What a blast. My "best" lap was an 1:50.217, which is kind of slow, but it was great fun.

If it wasn't for the fact that deep down the thing is still a Playseat, I'd be extremely jealous.

I am, however, very jealous. First of all that seat is just absolutely gorgeous. It's gotta be one of the best looking seats I've ever seen on a sim rig. The harness and your lighting makes it look even better. Also you have a pretty good camera.

Finally your wheel. If you add those sparco pedal pads you'll be all set. 👍

Went to Autobacs today but they haven't had the right ones. :(

Yet, I asked them about racing gloves and all they had was some weird looking stuff made by OMP. Ordered the K-F1 when I arrived at home, hope they feel good.

Right, so I'm asking myself which addition I should make next:

1) Buttkicker
+ might add to the immersion
+ really cool
- hard to find in Europe

2) TH8 RS shifter
+ might add to the immersion
+ really cool if used with the right cars (classic cars etc.)
- not of much use in current race cars, isn't it?

Other upgrades on the horizon:

- Sparco pedal plates
- carbon baseplate for the F1 rim (thus removing all the fake knobs in the middle)

I would only get the shifter if you know you're going to enjoy H-gated shifting or used to using stick for sequential shift (although GT5 I believe still doesn't support that). But if you're already used to using paddle shifting and enjoy it immensely, it could prove a waste of your money.

Indeed but I'd love to drive around in 60s race cars using a gear lever. I could still ask for a refund if it doesn't suit me. :D

Next upgrade......

From your list:

Buttkicker for sure!. If you can't find one in Europe, just get the Aura Bass Shaker and a decent cheap amp (can be had for under $100 in the US) and it will be just as good.

My suggestion:

With the amazing amount of brand new (upcoming) PC sims, you should get a decent gaming PC. This year we've got rFactor 2, pCARS, Assetto Corsa, upgrades for NetKar Pro, and of course the ever-evolving iRacing, there is something for everyone in PC racing. Also your T500RS will then become that much better.

I might get a new PC soon'ish but I'm not playing much anymore (PC-wise), so it's not exactly high priority.

Which amp / shaker would you exactly suggest?

Aura Bass Shaker (the basic model) and a Dayton 75 watt amp is what I use. But I don't know for sure what is readily available in your country.

I'll take a look around, cheers. :)

Edit: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004YDRBCO/?tag=gtplanet-20 - that's looking good. Thanks for the advice.

I'll probably put it onto the wooden plate in between the metal frame and my bucket seat, that should hopefully do the trick. :dunce:

Mr S,

What is the size of the nut for the harness bolts? I just got the same harness but no nuts for the bolts.

Much thanks and really nice work, I love creative modders. :D

Really good question - I'll have a look at it once I'm home, just left for work. I just remember that I had to buy new bolts too since the ones that were included had some sort of weird thread, I couldn't find a nut for them. Anyway, I'll let you know tonight. :)

So do you tighten your harness/belts just before the race starts :)

Nice setup Mr. S 👍

Sure, it adds to the immersion. No, really...it does.

You do if you have a motion-based rig 👍

I'd rather stay away from moving rigs - an awesome but sturdy rig is better imho. :)

^^^

ding ding ding :D

Leaving the office in 14 minutes. :p

Edit: right, seems like I threw the small pouch they came in away and they're not labeled. :S Then again, I just took the original one to the hardware store and bought them according to said measurements - it worked pretty great, just buy them with nuts included and you're ready to go. :D

Well, looks excellent and great to see someone take pride in attention to detail and matching products. Great inspiration to others.

Superb, Stylish, Snazzy yet Simple upgrade.
👍

Always liked the look of the harness too, even from a style perspective.
Not so sure about gloves though, just me I think I'd feel silly wearing them but maybe you "motion men" will consider a helmet and hans device, lol. :sly:

Health & Safety is important (joking)

I'll have to find them, I can't take them out for some reason. :(

Thanks anyway.

Are you sure? I could simply take them out - I had to, on a side-note, because the thread was a bit odd and I couldn't find matching nuts, so I literally had to buy new bolts. :)

That thread is a bit outdated, my wheel has been modified a little bit. This is a video (I posted it in the rFactor 2 thread yesterday) of an a lap around Sebring combined with a video of the rig. Just make sure both videos start at the same time, YTD often tends to start one video a second later than the first one - that's looking weird then. :p

So, let's spill the beans. Most important: there's a SENNA sticker (letters aren't connected, so there's no foil visible - it's pretty ace and cost me 8€ on eBay) on top of the rim now. I thought about adding something like the Force India sticker (see here, on top) but that just didn't cut it. SENNA all the way, baby.

- SimDisplay (http://www.simdisplay.net)
- replaced all push buttons with NKK buttons (the ones used in real race cars, you can hear their click sounds)
- installed 5 rotary encoders replacing the fake ones in the middle
- stronger springs underneath the shifter paddles
- removed the Ferrari logo in the middle

Secondary display:

Mr.S good job on the rim. love that rotary knob, Can I ask where you get them from?

I'm good at planning stuff but making stuff is often a problem for me since I'm terribly clumsy when it comes to electronic stuff. Hence why I chose to be an accountant (although my current job is way different) when I started working as a teenager. :D

I've thus asked modmate to modify the wheel to my exact specifications. So I didn't actually buy the encoders myself. :)

Minor update: newer version of the display (since the old one had a slightly broken LED. Should look even better now, I think. The new display also means that the encoders are working now! Sadly, not much they can do in F1 2012 - but it's great to have them in rFactor2 and the likes. :)
