Seeing as there is demand as from people, here s a Rallying thread for GT5!

Whats your favourite car to rally in?

Your favourite track?

You set any good lap times lately and want people to challenge your time?

Maybe even your custom rally tracks and want to show a video or a picture of it?

Whatever you like, so long as its rally and AUP friendly.

I absolutely LOVE the Eiger tracks, for some reason. The short track is perfect for Rallycross and so is the W trail, the long K trail is varied and challenging, the only gripe with it is the G trail. I just don't like how it flows. :/ Chamonix and Toscana just don't compare, though, if they brought back Grand Canyon, that would be the best track.

I love the Escudo and Evo Super Rally car. Favorite tracks for both is the Eiger of course. Nothing compares to the switch backs and having the mountains in the background is amazing. I do wish they brought back Grand Canyon and Pikes Peak. 👍

None of the circuit rally tracks interest me, the point to point tracks in the special event though are fantastic.

Evo Super Rally Car is my trusted steed, though I love driving my Escort Rally Car too.

Back when I rallied all the time, and that was pre-1 million gift cap times, I raced 13 people on the Eiger Nordwand W Trail. Any car, 15 laps, heavy damage, winner won a coloured X1. Obviously the first corner was a difficulty with me starting second to last, but through the laps, managed low damage and pulled a win in my Mitsubishi Starion. :D Got my first X1 that way.

As a majority had mics it was entertaining to hear them complain when I passed them, and overlapped them. Some in modern day rally cars, Group B, an Escudo, and a few road cars.

One of the best races I ever had on GT5.

I must say the point to point races in a Peugeot 206 rally car sere rather excellent!

So, what's the best looking rally car? My favourite is the Toyota Celica from the early 90's that has what seems to be a luggage rack (or is it meant for spare wheels or an extra tank or something?) over the rear window. Looks like it's ready to take on Paris - Dakar!

Edit: This.

And here it is in action in the 1995 Safari rally.

Seems like finally rallying is beginning to get the respect it deserves :)

During the time I hosted the GTP WRC (which was the first rally championship on GTP and got cancelled due to numbers) I think most of us found out Eiger K Trial is actually the closest GT5 comes to a good rally stage, though I do generally miss some solid rocks on the stages that will cause damage, some trees to run into and some water splashes :D

Favorite car is a toughie but it isn't a Premium one, they chose the wrong ones for that. The Peugeot 206 was my weapon of choice, but I've later fell in love with the pale Focus (I pretend it has the 2000 livery) and the Lancer's and Impreza's. The Xsara is also good being a F2 car (y u no give us newer Xsara?)

By the way Eran, the Celica you're talking about is a Safari Rally car 👍

If you like that car, I can only recommend you try this build (click the pic). I enjoyed it hugely 👍

I'm not ashamed of a bit of self publicity either, the below is one of my favourite all time cars and it did pretty well at the same event as the above car from DigiB.

Best looking rally car is surely the Stratos?

And I see what you did there Cy. Sneaky. :p

I really like the point to point races, and wish they had more of them :(.

As for the best looking, it has to be that Rally Raid thing, right? :dopey:

Most of the time I'm playing GT5 now I'm either using a Group B car or one of the road versions. By far the coolest race cars that were ever made. If I had to choose a favorite it would be the Ford RS200, though in GT5 I like driving the 205s better.

Pure car porn:

I really wish we had better rally events in GT5 though. At least something with different surfaces.

I don't often build worthy cars, but when I do, I hawk them at any given opportunity :sly:

The '85 PAJERO is certainly your kinda thing, Krenkers :trouble:

PS - I quite like the '03 version, it's the closest thing we have to a Bowler Wildcat. Them things are nutz...

Yep. That's the one 👍. I wonder if I could make a ralley/road tune for the two of them :dopey:

i like to match the gearing of the rally editions to the road going versions with the right amount of hp.I dont pass 276 as a rule of thumb.they end being great on the road and rally. Also match suspension settings and work from there.I spend most of my time doing that.

Wait. You mention road cars and do not mention this?

Hang your heads in shame!!! This thing has 400bhp when tuned I think...

Its a shame we are missing the rally quattro though. And on the other hand you have the Delta S4 and S4 Evo rally cars but no road car.

A rally Quattro would be EPIC! Seems silly they haven't put it in really.

What is the longest leige course you have made out of the course maker?

I made two that reached 6.25 miles.

I just can't take Group B seriously in GT5 unfortunately. I tend to hop onto WRC 3 when I need that visceral thrill. I'd love that to be corrected in GT6...that ohmygodohmygod feeling of pure, sweaty terror :sly:

They need to bring back Smokey Mountain for GT6!

I had lots of fun in a Mini on Smokey Mountain, was the first time I started playing The GT series way back in 2001. However, I bought Richard Burns Rally when it came out for PS2, & as a result the rally experience in GT games has been pretty dead for me ever since. I do like taking the stock Impreza from the Recommended Garage for a spin on Toscana once in a blue moon though. :D

See I rather enjoy the tarmac rallies. The problem is with gt5 which really effects rallying, is there is no sense of speed. So there is no fear.

Wow. Just had a go at the Toscana Reverse track with time set to 20:30. What an amazing experience! Used a stock Subaru Impreza Sport Wagon '99. So many blind corners and crests! So blinded by the sun! So many bumps and jumps!
I'm in love <3
