I know its about hardware, but its. a question and I need an answer. I just hooked up my G27 and man is it hard. The weight transfer FFB is hard as Hell to control especially in a straigh line. What settings do the fast guys use? I turned power assist steering on. And turned FFB to 1. I also set it to professional. Any suggestions? Also do I have to calibrated thus thing or is that what its doing when I first power up?

You just have to train your hands how to hold it. It doesn't take as much pressure as you'd think once you do, but you need a firm steady grip while you're getting there. It surprises almost everyone the first time they feel it.

I'd give you my settings but I'm not fast and have used two different non-G27 wheels.

The Professional, Simulation, and Amateur settings do not work for the G27. Those 3 settings are only for the high-lighted wheels when that option is selected. It also says that in the scrolling text on that screen so don't worry about those. I'm not one of the fast guys, I'm just a slow poke but I use a FFB of 6 with the power assist on.

I'm going to say something different than the other poster. Don't hold the wheel with a "death grip" when you do what happens is that you end up fighting with the wheel not using it. Hold it the same as you would in a real car, if you do this you will get the feel of the road surface. To get used to the wheel drive on Daytona oval with several different types of cars, while driving turn the wheel (just a little) so you can get the feel of how the wheel reacts.

I didn't mean to say you need to squeeze it super-tight, just that you need to focus on keeping your hands steady and in-control. For me and most people who've tried mine this meant a bit more pressure than normal -- but it's more in your wrist than your fist. The classic "death grip" will only make you hurt, it won't really help you hold the wheel. At first it feels like it's trying to wrench itself out of your hands, but you get used to it and can relax a lot once you do.

I agree. It really gets me when people ask for advice with their wheels and the first thing everyone says is, "you gotta hold it tightly" like its some bull you are riding trying to stay on for 8 seconds. Myself, I actually don't even grip my wheel at all. I more use the palms of my hands with my fingers just curled around for the paddle shifters. I find that with the FFB at 6 and that type of grip, it gives me an excellant feel for the road. Thats just me tho. Like I said, I'm just your average slow driver therefore my advice should really be taken with a grain of salt. Hardly the expert advice.

hey guys, i also have a question and didn't want to start another thread on the g27 :D. Im having a great time with my wheel but gets annoying when someone sends me a message and i cant reply because the g27 doesn't have the psn button. I have to get my wireless controller and change it to controller 1 everytime. how can i map the psn menu onto the g27?

You dont need to just leave your ds3 set to P1 & the wheel will still work fullyon P2. This is how you setup for a d.i.y E-brake as all functions except steering still work on the ds3. Set ds3's R3 to E-brake & link it to a lever,(see my album for pic's & details) I made a sequential shifter in basically the same way too.

To the O.P I use No power steering & FFB 10 on G27, dont be afraid to fight the FFB. Also my number 1 tip; Use a desktop fan to keep the wheel motors cool so your FFB works fully (Logitech FFB strength auto lowers wen wheel motor/s get hot, Its a little saftey feature). Theres pics of mine in my GTp album although you dont need to go as far as I have. Also I have a vid of me using these settings with my G27 with all my d.i.y mods on my youtube channel ((Link in signature)).

The steering feels really loose at its center point and once it starts jiggling within the loose section i am hopeless. No control. Normal?

lol i was talking about the ps3 button on the wireless controller. the button that opens the xmb menu. how can i get the g27 to open that menu up

the wheel moves left to right and right to left in the center? u have to hold the wheel like you're driving a real car. dont hold it like you're choking someone lol. just relax and feel the wheel

Take it apart?

Why would you take it apart? I thought it was a new wheel. What car are you driving with it? When I first got my G27, it kinda did what you are describing. Even tho a death grip is not required, try gripping it a little more firmly until you get used to it, then you can gradually loosen up your grip. Like I said before, I kinda drive with just my palms now with FFB @ 6. There is no way I could have done that in the beginning tho. Sounds to me like you just need to get used to it.

I hope so. It feels so unnatural. Also it was refurbished. Got it from newegg. That's why I question its performance. And I have no prior experience to go off of. Also thanks for your time guys

Ah, I see. Well, I would still give yourself some time to get used to it. When I first started using a wheel, it felt quite unnatural aswell. Just don't get fustrated. You are not going to be as good as you are with the controller right from the start. It will come with time tho. I believe it was about a week or so for me before I started out performing my controller times. Just take it slow and steady and soon you'll be the driving sensation you are with the controller, then better. Good luck.

Well what's exactly the problem?

Is the force feedback too strong around the deadzone?
Can you feel a clearance in the gearing (not the ffb) / clearance between gear and gearrack?

The actual question is: Do you feel any mechanical clearance? Or is it only FFB based?
