Looking for a seperate sequential shifter that will work on my G27. Okay with mods as long as it allows me to use my H Pattern shifter at the same time. Better if I don't need to plug/unplug one to use the other one. Looking for this for my setup! :)

DerekSpeareDesigns also offers some good-looking ones though I haven't tried them. They're just sequential though.

The ones mentioned by the previous commenter and the DSD one, as well as almost all shifter accesories (I think, correct me if I'm mistaken), are stand-alone and plug via USB not to your G27. The TH8RS has an H-Shifter and with a bit of tweaking it becomes a Sequential shifter, it even includes all that's needed. No idea about the Frex one. The DSD is only sequential so if you want H shifting you'll have to use the shifter module of the G27.

It all depends on your budget, the software you'll be using, and if you wan't it to be H-Shift+Seq. Shift or just one of the two.

Cheers, and welcome to :gtpflag:

Would a standalone USB only sequential shifter work with a PS3 on GT5? I'm alright with using the stock g27 for H pattern, I just want the versatility of having a seq. and h at the same time without the hassle of plugging and unplugging shifters all the time.

The only shifter that works on PS3 as a standalone device is the TH8 shifter. Then it still will only work when used with the t500rs wheel.

The Frex shifter isnt standalone USB (it can be, but by default it comes with wires you connect to a controller, either something like a Cthulhu device or solder it into the buttons on a wheel/controller.)

I posted this before: G27 - connecting sequential shifter to wheel

After that you can plug in a bare wired sequential shifter. If you wire it to buttons on the shifter ala chilicoke handbrake style, GT5 won't be able to use it. Doing it this way, it's compatible with PC and PS3 including GT5.

I did the same for my T500. Video of that here.

Hope that helps.

Just would like to clarify, shorting out either the up/down wire with the common wire causes it to shift gears right? And the common wire is just 2 wires basically acting as a bridge?
If I were to wire one common wire, and one upshift wire to a switch, activating the switch will cause an upshift or downshift depending on the wire used?

And those wires you used are soldered by yourself? You just tapped into the circuit ala chilicoke style right? Thanks :)

Sorry for the late reply.
1. shorting out either the up/down wire with the common wire causes it to shift gears right? Yes
2. And the common wire is just 2 wires basically acting as a bridge? Sorry, not sure what you mean. You can have 4 wires, ie. 2 wires per switch or you can join the 2 marked 'common' wires together so you end up with a 3 wire connector on the shifter end.
3. If I were to wire one common wire, and one upshift wire to a switch, activating the switch will cause an upshift or downshift depending on the wire used? Yes

Thanks! I'll look into that method, I think I'll be building a homemade handbrake, im from the Philippines and shipping for that Frex shifter would kill me! Haha
