Once a year I make a trip up to the fine state of Idaho to visit my college buddy of many years. The weekend is centered around the McCall winter ice festival. Each year a group of us ranging from 8 to 15 rent a cabin or house to relive our youthful days of random drunkeness. This year really wasn't highlighted by who was to pass out first but it was the staggering amount of snow in the area. I thought some of you might like to see a few of the shots from the weekend.

When you say BYOB at one of our trips, this is the response you're likely to get.

We think we had a stop sign at the corner of the street

The house next to us needed some snow removal on the roof to prevent a cave in.

Thank you for stopping in to take a look!

Jeez you always take a lot of pics in these threads of yours. If I was at computer capable of viewing them I'd comment more, but for now this is all I got.

Great pics! I was trying to get warm under some blankets, and after seeing your pics I started to shiver like mad. Gotta' start all over again... :grumpy:

Looks like a cool trip! 👍 I like all that white fluffy stuff. :) By the way, is that a Grateful Dead head, with a couple Deadhead Teddy's next to it?

Looks like you weren't too far from home:

I'm sure it never went above 30F while I was there.

I was thinking I had seen that skull before, but I'm no Deadhead. I'm old but not that old.

Looks like you weren't too far from home:

Dang...I didn't realise you were that far north.

Awesome pics Brian... I had some good memories from seeing those pics, about the couple of blizzards I endured in college. The wife and I had a good time watching these pics.

Thanks, I'm glad I could take you way back.

I've always wanted to go over to Idaho, especially in this time of year. Those pictures pretty much show exactly why. I love it.

Thanks!

Yeah i miss the snow too.Wakeing up in the moring the first day it snowed everythings white woooooowww I miss them days.unfortunately u dont see snow in FL unless you look into your freezer!:indiff:

Nice man! Awesome pictures? May I ask why kind of camera? If they were larger they'd so be wallpapered!

You making me miss home. I am from north of Spokane in WA, and I miss the snow right now :(

McCall is a nice place out of the way. I've driven through there a few times on trips down to Utah and its just a nice place to get away to. Fun roads too in the area ;)

Yeah, heavy winter this year in the inland northwest though... quite a bit more snow than usual. Gotta love it though.

Wow, that's one hell of a lot of snow. Britain comes to stand still after an inch of the stuff.

Idaho is very diverse and much different then I had pictured. Around the Boise it is more desert like then I had ever imagined.

Those are some pretty nice photos. I like the skull, unfortunately I have never seen snow.

Thats one reason that I had to move away from Arizona after college. They just don't have any seasons in the desert.

I truly don't feel like I really know how to use my camera yet. Most everything is shot in the auto mode. I want to understand the manual settings so I can really bring my pictures to life. I'm thinking of taking some classes to edjamacate myself.

Send me a PM with the pictures that you would like and I give you the full size version.

I'd say that you really haven't seen trees until you get up to the northwest part of our country. Even being from Colorado, I was shocked in areas like Portland on how many trees there really are up there.

McCall does have some fantastic roads to travel! It's a great mix of twisties and straits to get your blood moving.

Most of Idaho has been in drought like conditions for many years so this winter is a huge blessing to the farmers. ICANHAZPOTATOS

It was kinda funny that even in Bosie, two days after a 3 inch snow that some of the schools were still closed due to the driving conditions. Some people just don't know how to slow down.

I am from the mountains in the northwest... so I know how many trees there are  Spokane is in eastern Washington. Which is the Evergreen state... I've been all over the west coast and inland northwest.

So, yeah? :boggled:

EDIT: Unless by "you" you mean "you all," meaning the whole of forum.

And nice Konica-Minolta ;) I refuse to call them a Sony, since they just bought the design and everything from Konica-Minolta for that Cybershot. Very nice cameras, and do anything and everything. Except for what some pros need. dSLRs are over-rated, to be honest. Good camera does not equal good pictures. A good photographer does.

Great pics! The snow really looks beautiful and thick, cannot believe how piled up it is on things! :)

The accommodation looked really sweet also..

I must have missed this thread. That is a lot of snow! It must have been more that 10 years that I saw that much snow, even in Austria.

Those snow sculptures are incredible!

Very nice photos! I like snow!

:)

It has been over a decade since Kentucky has even seen more than six inches at one time.

I would love some heavy duty snowfall around here. Of course, I somehow think I would still have to go to work.

Anyway, I love snow and I am now thinking a northwest trip may be in the future. Your Man Tours does an Alaska and the Great Northwest tour.

That will probably be after the HDTV, Disney at New Year's (because my wife is insane), and the Route 66 driving trip.

Thats actually a bit strange. With huge amounts of snow like that you usually get the wind blowing and you might see more areas that have snow drifts. To see that much snow at full depth without drifting makes it that much more impressive.

They were better the year before.

If your city has enough snow plows.

Yes...the TV needs to come next. Vacations only last a few weeks. A TV can be used everyday.

When my executive team is in New York do you think they understand that three inches is crippling to us? No. And as a manager I am expected to be here, no matter what.

Well, it occured to me a couple of days ago, what do I do with my 48" projection screen I have now?

Mine was on craigs list for less then 24 hours before I had a buyer. I also had four waiting in line to pick it up. For the right price you would easily get rid of it.

Yeah, just mentioning it to a coworker this morning got me an offer for $150.

I'm thinking about taking it as it is a 10-year-old set.
