OK, so in my thread about buying my PSP we got off-track and began discussing Patapon. I thought I would actually make a Patapon thread so people can discuss strategies and whatnot, and those interested can actually see that Patapon is being discussed.
For those who do not know Patapon is a combination rhythm, strategy, resource management, RPG game.
You are the mighty god of the Patapon race. You must command them into battle using drum beats. The Patapon prophecy tells of the Patapons reaching Earthend where they will see "IT" Unfortunately the Patapons have been enslaved by the Zigotons, so you must free your followers and lead them to Earthend.

Game Spoilers from here on
Continuing on with the discussion from the non-Patapon thread:
I have made it to the fourth boss, the second sand worm, Dokaknel, but haven't beaten him yet. I have Dodonga at lvl 5, Majidonga at lvl 4, Zaknel at lvl 3, and Dokaknel at lvl 1.
I have the tree, flower, and mountain mini-games unlocked. The mountain mini-game is freaking impossible. Do you have to be perfect to get anything from him? Watching him whine when I screw up is driving me insane. Oh well, I can get plenty of titanium from the Desert Paradise hunting level, which has given me titanium 3 out of five times. The pocheeck gives me a cherry tree, the momiti gives me succulent (dream in EU?) meat, and the Kacheeck (sand) will give me stone, iron, or titanium. Catch a heard of Kacheeck (sand) and you can get all three. I have found that the key to success here is having at least one Mogyoon and one Tikulee Yumipon.
Tikulee Yumipons have a 90% chance of a critical hit and over 100% with a steel bow. So, while they deliver very little damage they can give a critical blow on every arrow. Mogyoon Yumpions deal 28-35 hp of damage and since they triple shot in fever mode that means they can deliver over 100 hp in a shot. With these two in my hunting party I can kill Kacheecks and Motitis in one fever shot.
Speaking of Rarepons I was making a spreadsheet on how to create each kind, then I discovered the formula. Making my spreadsheet so far pointless.
So, to start here are the Rarepon ranks:
Now each resource is separated into four levels. Using stone as an example:
And wood:
Now assign those numbers as values. Wood and stone makes Yumipons.
So, take the value of the rarepon and add one, that is the total combined value of your resource needed.
In other words
So, if you wanted to make a Mogyoon Yumipon your resource value must total 7. That means that you can use either titanium (3) & Super Cedar (4) - (total 7) or Mitheral (4) & Hinoki (3) - (total 7).
I hope that makes sense.
Also, I found that vegetables can be substituted in for meats at a 1-1 value, but it will cost you less kaching. I guess that is a subtle hint at vegetarianism.
Spell check hates Patapon

Speaking of Rarepons I was making a spreadsheet on how to create each kind, then I discovered the formula. Making my spreadsheet so far pointless.
So, to start here are the Rarepon ranks:
- Normal - white
- Pykola - red
- Gekolos - yellow
- Mofeel - purple
- Tikulee - blue and spiky
- Mogyoon - horns and purple
- Barsala - wings and green
Now each resource is separated into four levels. Using stone as an example:
- stone
- hard iron
- titanium ore
- mitheral
And wood:
- wood branch
- cherry tree
- hinoki
- super cedar
Now assign those numbers as values. Wood and stone makes Yumipons.
So, take the value of the rarepon and add one, that is the total combined value of your resource needed.
In other words
- Type ---- resource value
- Normal ----- 2
- Pykola ----- 3
- Gekolos ---- 4
- Mofeel ---- 5
- Tikulee ---- 6
- Mogyoon -- 7
- Barsala ---- 8
So, if you wanted to make a Mogyoon Yumipon your resource value must total 7. That means that you can use either titanium (3) & Super Cedar (4) - (total 7) or Mitheral (4) & Hinoki (3) - (total 7).
