Will it ever get better, man im cheesed

Ok, i've been away for about 3 weeks and have been playing again the last few days and thing seem even worse. In daytime hours there seem to be even more quitters.

Secondly and what i feel is worse (and perhaps even worse than rammers and the like) are the people who take a fast car and use the wall on the two corners where they can on the ring and thus make it very hard and impossible in some cases to beat them, fark it is driving me crazy.

Well i suppose i can hope they put more control over races in.

Lastly is it just me that feels there should be penalties for even touching for more than half a second unless say someone hit you within say two seconds of the wall touching.

Sorry for ranting on subjects that may have been mentioned before but i had to.

Lastly if you see me griefing other drivers on the track i assure you they deserve it in all cases.

Anyway a big up to all you good racers out there, another thing i was wondering was has there ever been a race with 100% clean and fair drivers because i don't think i've been in any out of the many i have raced in.

I have been in a few clean race's but there were only about 3 people most of the time and it was about 4 in the morning(South Africa)

Online is not good but its not 99% bad races, had quite a lot good ones 50-50 i would say... Quiting hosts... from my experience it not happens that much...

And nobody should drive some one of the road on purpose, even though you may feel he/she deserved it!

yeah, today was terrible, i was getting rammed in every corner. had to stop playing, or i was going to break something.

nothing worse than going through a set of curves nicely and some loser taping you cause he does not have the skill to pass. pathetic really.

i saw lots of that tonight. never seen so much dust and smoke in suzuka until tonight. lots of gtp members too. would of been fun if it stayed somewhat clean. but tonight was specially brutal. i liked how i pulled over on the start and just followed 3 other members from here, and ended up in sixth or something. that was how bad and how many racers got taken out. i even saw someone actually pulling over and looking for a new victim. sad part was i took out some members too, but not intentionally.

Yea i agree you get some disconnects and punters out there but for me go ahead and take out the single player game and give me more online options.I love racing real people.

Online was not great last night. At the moment I do not think I am going to enjoy online racing with GT longer term.

Right now I want to see the host to have the ability to boot players. Once or twice a couple of bad 'uns were ruining it for the rest. I also think that longer term the prize money should be the same for all entrants to remove that from eg causing hosts to boot just so that they get the cash.

PD need to take a long look at this, and also see how other racing games handle online, otherwise a lot of (good) racers will stay offline.

True. Only I think the online is pretty good, has some flaw, but not bad.

Drive away from them. Dont let them get you or avoid crashes by using a smarter racing line!

Please no, i like it as it is! Friend Invites and Voice chatt with the planned fall update allright,
but seriously what game you guys playing there? lol i know many .... very, very good drivers who just LOVE it and never complain nearly as much....

You should better get it going now and stop biching around with the bad players/drivers ,my advice:tup:

Hybrid, when it is bad it is really bad. Sure good at times, but I am not bitching. I have lots of online racing experience and my overall experience, whether that be bad luck or not is not at all good.

We will see how online play develops longer term.

Maybe you had a lot of bad luck ok, but things like giving host ability to boot players will make it even worse.
The good players will be kicked out all the time and the bashers having fun! No the only way is to beat them fair and square imo, then the bad players lose interest. I mean never change a running system and it runs very well for me ,I therefore often use cars that should not have a chance and stil make wins or second places !

In the long term the point is , when we have option for friend invite and voice chat the game is beeing over for the thrashers and bashers however you call them...
One bad guy against 10 good drivers ( with voices !) has no chance at all !!! :)

I agree 100%, but we all already know that Kaz and PD don't even consider what other games offer/ can do/ or the way they make their online so good. They are basically starting from scratch like the dev were back in the Dreamcast days. GT5P online really reminds me of playing on my Dreamcast, it sooooo basic, even if you compare it to some PS2 games that were online. Its sad, but maybe they will get a hint.

I agree that it is really bad when its bad, like all of its deficiencies pile up to make it unplayable for me. First I'll get rammed, then recover, then the host quits, then I back at the " matching " screen for five minutes so I can have another 3 minute race if the host does not quit. Not sure what PD is doing to make the online so slow to match, maybe its Sony doing something wrong.

I Have a 10 down 1 up connection and it still take extremely long to DL anything on my PS3, be it a demo, system update, or game update, then there is the install of another 5 or 10 minutes. When I popped in GT5p for the first time I had a system update to perform, and a game update........so 45 minutes later I finally got to play, its unnecessary:crazy:. Sorry for the rant, but all of these problems are fixable, its irritating that they have not been addressed. I bought GTA4 for the 360 because of these types of issues, when I popped it in I had to do a system update before playing, it took less than 1 minute. That's how its done!:)

Exactly. It's just sad they don't consider what other games offer. If they keep going towards it like this, by the time GT5 comes out, Forza 3 will probably come out and the strong community of Forza will just keep going forward. The way the community of Forza 2 is so good right now, it can only get better if Forza 3 improves on things like more people in the same room, pit stops to repair aero damage and a few other things like that. A strong community increases the longevivity of the game exponentially, and that's what Forza 2 has right now.

When I first played mine it only took like 5 minutes to do both an I was ready to race. I heard from alot of people it took a long time. Not in my case. I played it for the first time on the release date. I don't know why it took you 45 minutes? Might be a ISP issue or you need to open all the right ports.

i can pick smarter race lines etc, but when their only strategy is to rush the corner and ram, everytime, there is not much you can do.

it is interesting to see the line up of folks in the dirt as the offenders pass them.

yes, FORMULA ONE ACE, breakmyballs, nhr, Isalisi, i am talking to you, maybe go play pole position for a bit, and let mental puberty kick in before you go play with the big boys.

thank you.

That's very possible. See I'm used to just plugging my Ethernet cable into a system like the 360 and having optimal connection, without having to go into my computer and open ports for specific games. Sorry maybe we should continue this discussion in the other forum here.

I really did feel like the devs listened to the community over there. Here the other community members listen to each other, but PD is absent. Very poor community skills PD has, but the language barrier is a good enough excuse to last for awhile.

The only way to clean this game up is to make cars ghost if any part of each vehicle tries to occupy the same space.

That would take away too much from racing. A little fender rubbing makes it exciting. Having to change your line because of slower traffic is part of racing. If I didn't have to worry about hitting anyone, I could just drive through them and not worry about being clean.

That would be absolutely horrible. Its basically online time trials then! I'd much rather deal with punters than race ghosts.

Are all you people who are complaining about dirty races playing in beginner and intermediate races? I race exclusively on expert races and I hardly ever have a race ruined by a punter. I've found that most of the people in the Expert mode are clean racers. Sure it takes longer to connect, there aren't usually as many people in the races, and you're forced to play on pro physics, but it's worth it.

i was in the expert races last night and it was punter galore.. people just dont like being overtaken by a far superior set up car.

so they are still there.

I was online in 750pp Suzuka for 5 hours last night and only got punted off 4 times and two were by a fellow GTP member. :ouch:

must admit mine wasnt Suzuka still trying to get to grips with that track before i desend on you all lol

but they are around still.

4 times in 5 hours, that's less than once per hour. That's not bad. My point is that you'll have a much better time and more enjoyable experience overall in the Expert races.
