If you havn't downloaded the demo I suggest you do it now! single player is great but where this game shines is online as with all the battle field games. I first got into the series with battle field 2 on the 360, Well this next instalment adds alot of new features to the series, the maps are huge with it expanding as the online objectives unfold keeping the game moving, thers some great new vehicles the artilery gun being a personal favorite LOL the map on the demo encompases a good spread of battle areas from open ground with vinyards and scatered farm building through to a street battle in a small town, with the addition of the now standard unlockable weaponry and a ranking system this has brought it upto the level of COD4, the graphics are not quite as sharp but with the huge playing areas and your obligitory humves and various tanks not to mention the helicopters and gunboats the battle fied vista looks stunning with various explosions and plumes of smoke from burning wrecks reaching to the sky. What also stands out is the ability to simply "join friends" from the menue or invite party then jump into a game....this is standard on a 360 and is becoming more comon practice on the PS3 but remember this is just a demo and it's there!:)

Actually managed to shoot a driver of a humvee in the head by shooting in the vehicle from behind :) (you know, the opening where another teammate can sit)

Also liking the missile strike for the sniper. Destroyed a lot of tanks today with that weapon.

Really thinking about buying the game, or maybe even preordering.

The only thing that i don't like is that in singleplayer the vehicle doesn't stay visible for long after being destroyed and the same with the bodies in multiplayer.

Definitely getting this, even though I'm also definitely getting MGS4 on thursday. I love how it combines COD4 with Warhawk to create something amazing, but I hope the online mode is as varied as COD's, with a better party system, then it might finally be enough to distract me from hardcore team deathmatch... except for MGS and MGO, of course.

Seriously, though, after the huge disappointment that was Haze I'm so glad that a game I've been looking forward to since the first teaser trailer seems to have delivered the initial promise!

The party system works absaloutly fine on the demo, akin to that on resistance and the join friends system works well also, quite impresive that they included the system in the demo, but saying that it is a good selling point! I'm not sure but I would expect the system to be even more complex in the final game in keeping with the previous games. The more you play through the online map the more of it you discover and the more you work with the different classes, Snipers are great at the begining of each leg to soften the target up as they advance and my first rank cedits went on the 10 shot sniper rifle which gives you 10 shots as fas as you can pull the trigger before you need to reload or come out of scope view, little less stopping power but hey 10 rounds are better than 1 LOL next up I went for the M14 after picking one up of a dead enemy player, really tight groups at distance and a huge rate of fire! Then theres the guys with the shotguns, ideal for shifting the tanks with the RPG and then switching back to shotgun and hiding by the gold crate (yes camping is my life LOL) what've I forgot...oh yeah the support gunner! how can you forget that! I save that for the streets at the end of the map, you can imagine the destruction a suport gun causes within the tight streets with the scattering of propane tanks doted about! There is of course the those moments when you pack the heavy tank or the helicopter full of players and tun them into mobile weapon platforms...........rolling into an enemy compound in a heavy tank fully loaded with all guns blazing usualy has has people running for cover rather than returning fire, as for the helicopter in the right hands it's as formidable as in the previous game........I'm just reverling inthe fact no ones worked out the sam system yet.....and I ain't telling you either LOL

I have my copy on pre-order. The demo is excellent and I'm glad to not be the only one who sees it as a cross between COD4 and Warhawk (with added environment destruction for good measure).

The running battles that occur in the on-line matches are great fun, and while Hereward's tactic of driving a tank full of men at the defenders can work, it is great fun when you then give them a face full of TOW missile. Points galore.

Wow! Thanks Hereward for persuading me to download this demo! Its awesome, love the amount of vehicles that are just flying around on online mode, it reminds me of Operation Flashpoint too. Its absoultely amazing, I'm going to persuade my brother to buy it as I want to buy GRiD first and then I want a electric guitar which needs some severe saving up for. So if I persuade my brother :p Another game :)

But thanks for persuading me to download this awesome game demo!

Noo worries, I actualy ran a clan called the kellys heroes on the 360 version of BF2 (Battlefield 2) and we had some great matches on there although I'm not really a hardcore clan player LOL I think the description of COD meet Warhawk is about right....although the games description of it being a "sanbox" experience fits it well also Just so many ways to play the game, you can easily switch tactics depending on the situation and what your team is doing. one of the funnyest things I saw was a sniper on the streets section had prety much closed a key area down from his roof top and one guy just came tearing up the street in a heavy tank and parked it in the building......actualy IN the building, it was hilarious, full chat and straight through the wall, brought the roof down with him and the git of a sniper who was instant lunch for us as we swarmed in LOL On BF2 you could jump out of the heli's and then parachute down....not tried this yet might have ago later and I'll report back if it works or if it dosn't how high I bounced LOL

I don't think this game plays quite as well as BF2 did that I was playing on the 360 at release - I feel the game's controls aren't quite as smooth and accurate, espeically in the vehicles. But the graphics have improved lots - it's very good looking, especially the destructable enviornments.

I like that you have a huge weapon choice and can unlock the ones you wish.

I still think the guns sound crap, and take a lot to kill somesome. They always sounded bad in BF2, but the explosions are apocolyptic and can dominate the battlefield like it should do.

I'm not sure whether to give this game a go or not. I was having some fun with it at last in a lag-free game yesterday evening (after several very laggy sessions), but I'm not sure if it's enough... Maybe I've played COD4 too much. :p

And yeah, I agree it's sort of a mix between Warhawk and COD4.

just reverling inthe fact no ones worked out the sam system yet.....and I ain't telling you either LOL

Sam system? is that for the heli?

lol, idiot me sam = surface to air misile

Sam system? is that for the heli?

lol, idiot me sam = surface to air misile

LOL no it's actualy a character called sam in the game he comes eqiped with a very big pokeing stick which he uses to jab the pilot in the eyes from the ground.......ok its a s.a.m. system LOL

Erm and the awnser to the parachute question I can now confirm is about 3 meters.........:sly:

Quick note on the sound of the guns.....goto options then sound then you'll notice for some stupid reason it's set on hi-fi as default.......just flip it over to suround or what have you to make that suport gun stand out a little more!

I have to aggree and disaggree with the BF2 is better, there are some parts such as the parachutes (take a sniper team up in a heli and let them jump out over tall structures at the begining of a match) which was very good but did give a slightly unfair advantage, then theres the vehicle handleing.......now if you go into in car/tank/boat view it's better that BF2 The heli however is taking some time to get to grips with, I could throw the bird easily under bridges at the docks on BF2 with the new one........nope not yet anyway, it seems a lot faster and less manouverable on the new ones, but I''m getting there slowly. I do however like the map system which keeps the 2 teams close together, on BF2 the maps were big but it could take a good while before the 2 teams clashed in the middle and it allways ended up with huge maps but everyone fought in a very small section of it in the middle, this time round the system of opening more areas as the defenders line is pushed back works a treat and the artilery gun linked with destructable enviroments means a perfectly prety farm compley or vinyard can soon become....well a flat smouldering mess of crater holes and burned out buildings and vehicles LOL
What is intrequeing is that this is only the demo, with 1 map and one game mode..........what elese is there in the full game? I'll go find out and report back! :)

I've logged like 9 hours on the demo >_>

It's a lot of fun especially sniping. Just sit down in a bush and take out tanks and humvees that pass with the laser designator while counter sniping and taking out other targots of opportunity. I've tried the support, demolition, and assualt classes but none of them are as fun for me as recon. I actually prefer the bolt-action rifles that's why I got the M95.

Funny video from BF:BC poking fun at MGS4

We love game collaborations. We love it even more when competing companies take playful potshots at the other's product. In this case, Battlefield: Bad Company calls out a certain tactical espionage hero in this new trailer. We guess they're trying to tell us it's time to move on from that 'other game' and switch the fight over unto a new battlefield. Playful humor, or aggressive competition? Whatever the purpose of this trailer was, all we know is that it's pretty funny stuff. Check it out.

Chris.

Why does anyone think this game has taken anything from COD4?

This game is what it is because of BF2MC and all previous battlefield titles, if anything the other games took something from the old BF games.

This game really is an updated version of BF2 - nothing taken from any other game, somethings have been taken out, and new things have also been added in!

No parachutes now, artillery is now a stand alone gun rather than a computer, no conquest mode yet, selecting a gun in the old BF2 was alot quicker!

That said - this game is absolutely amazing! I cant stop playing it, just cant wait till friday to get the full game!

Anyone got it already and tried the rest of the maps online?

hmm, no replies to the above question...
Is there anyone who bought the game?

Thinking of buying it, but not sure yet

I played the demo, and I loved it. The multiplayer was really fun. Im thinking about purchasing it eventually.

I played the beta, the single player demo, and the multiplayer demo for the Xbox360 version and just cant get into this game. I will rent it but its not a purchase for me. I liked modern combat a lot better than bad company. I also like Frontlines more than Bad Company.

I'm getting it in the morning......I'll pass on some info when I can drag myself away from it LOL

Right had a few hours on it......wow!
There about 8 maps and I've just been hitting them on ranked so only done abot 4 of them including oasis (demo map) Not see any helis yet? even on oasis? got to say I agree with master focus, oasis is a fairly easy map compared with the others. majority are european based maps with lots of foilaige and rolling hills. the village areas are fantastic and the ability to crawl into a roof space then blow out a piece of roof to give you a good sniping position really opens up poserbilities! I noticed a few differences from the demo, firstly it takes less shots to kill guys and visa versa, some maps are desighned to suit certain soldier types, add fog instant killer for the snipers LOL again on the maps there desighn is quite remarkable in the way it creates situations this coupled with the "sandbox" feel of do what you like makes for huge tatical scope. The weapons again are very well thought out, go for the XM8 suport weapon for instance, a suport gun with 150 rounds, a tight group and a scope!!!!!! Servers seem solid and I've not come accross BF2 on the 360 fatal flaw...ie team mates killing each other, the -15 points seems to detere most along with the constant hail of ammo raining down on you to stop the short attention spand players from getting bored LOL
So what else? well I have to go back to the maps which really make the game, theres just so much attention to detail from sitting on a ridge line watching enemy tanks rolling over a field towards you to the creeping down the river bank in a misty european village with building on either bank explodeing around you! And no I havent even looked at single player! The gold crate game system works very well and with the level desighn you find it intuative to fight as a squad, no running of on lone wolf missions here, you'll simply die trying! Joint defence or group attack with atillery armour and sniper suport is the norm in ever match I played in and the game rewards you for doing this, theres also a trophy system............with LOTS of tasks to espire to. So whats bad? well I'm an ardant BF fan and have been for a few years so for me it's just perfect....well theres afew omisions that I'm not happy about, first up is the clan options from BF2....gone! but inviting friends in to games or just joining friends on the fly works very very well (quick one on this the comms work perfectly too) next gripe...and I'm strugling to find one here.....long pause as I try to think of one........nope nothing major sorry LOL
IGN gave this game a score of 8.6 which I think is fair if your a BF fan however then it's a 9.5 they really have addressed all the issues of BF2 and taken the series on to the next level on the consoles everythings equal with no weapon or vehicle giving an unfare advantage and those maps.........well you'll see what I mean LOL

Well I got this today and my god it's fantastic. As Hereward said for himself, I've been playing it literally only online too although I watched my brother play single player for awhile which looks pretty good.

I have a couple of questions though, the first is when you take the screenshots in game (multi only) where do they actually go? I can't find them...

Also, Hereward are you playing on PS3 or 360? If your on PS3, I'll add you on PSN so perhaps we could meet up sometime also you can create your own squad kind of thing not the same as clan but still pretty cool. :D

I got the new gold edtion its really good imm on the forth lvl in the game havent bothered going online.

I'm on the PS3 version, tag Hereward, feel free to add me, Right I don't read instruction books (real bad habit) whats all this screen shot milarky! could they end up on your EA account section online? I'll go look see if I can spot it

Add me to that list of players as well, Speedster I know you are already on my PSN list, but anyone else feel free to add me for this one as well.

Hehe I know. :) It's the only chance us normal guys get to kill a mod without being threatened with the baan hammer. :D

Yeah I found that whilst scrolling through the B:BC, they say that it will be activated during the coming week along with an update to include another online game mode. Which is good, I still laugh at the fact that there's a photomode, we better be able to download full-res ones so I can play around with them in Photoshop :D

Starting to get my head aound this sandbox play now, how many times bo you spot an enemy trough a window only for him to run past your line of sight, just blow a hole in the wall and make your own window where you can see him! the laser marker system is also a hugely tactical bit of kit I need to start using more and I think the multiple C4 option is next on my list of wants so I can booby trap the gold crates, basicly lay multiple C4 units then remotly detonate the lot of them with one push! I'm starting to see people now getting out of the smple FPS mode and actualy using the systems available in BC more and more really dose make this game a cut above.
