Where did it go?

It was merged into the Rumble Strip.

Well I did wonder that as well, and I think someone has mentioned before that the Nissan and Mazda thread were merged into the cars in general thread as well. Wonder why would Jordan do that.......... (save space maybe?)

What happened to the product reviews forum? I'd like to check on a few things.
As TB has pointed out, those threads have all been moved into the Rumble Strip.

Dead forums are like dead branches or leaves - they aren't healthy for the plant. It's time for me to address forum consolidation, so expect to see some more of it over the next few days and weeks.

Yes, the Nissan and Mazda sub-forums have also been merged with the Cars in General Forum. Or maybe not...that was the trouble. Of course, we recently added a separate Photography Forum, so this forum does evolve and change along with changing tastes. Sometimes it works (I suggested the Product and Service Reviews sub-forum in the first place), and sometimes it does not.

I think when I began here, there were about 15-20 forums, so it has really increased based on the demands and requests of our members.

We've got new quote boxes too. Cool. I actually think the undefined border is rougher on my eyes...because it actually feels rough on my eyes. My brain is trying feverishly to define the border between the two colors, and apparently it's having a hard time because my eyes feel like I'm staring at the tip of my nose. In this case, old school > modern. At least in my...eyes.

Yup, that was the first thing that I noticed today. So is quoting any post will automatically resized it to size 1?

Yes, just applied the new quote boxes a few minutes ago. :)

Yes, but it's not like signatures. You can still use the [size] tags if you want to insert larger text inside the quote box.

Yeah, I'm having trouble reading the new ones too, specially when a big slab of text is quoted. I think the old ones look heaps better.

I agree - the new quote boxes don't look very good. I'm not having trouble reading them, but these just aren't as nice to look at. Overall, the site still looks great, though!

At first I thought the page didn't load fully as the quote boxes looked incomplete.

I'm finding reading quotes a bit hard now, too. Especially when it's a large quote too, as Casio said. :indiff:

I am a bit surprised by the reactions, as I completely disagreed with you all. Nevertheless, I've changed them again to make them look a bit more like the old style.

I didn't find it hard to read at all, now it's hard to read because there is half a square with a huge black line. The other way was much better, just the text needed to be another point larger.

I like the new one. It needs a box to set it off. Without it, I agree it was a bit more difficult to read.

Ahhh, the ol' brain is satisfied. Really, I tried reading the borderless boxes in different lighting in my room and from different distances and turning my computer's brightness up and down and nothing helped my eyes at all. But this new border is great.

Well the only problem with the new quote box is like what Casio and Jackington said, its a little hard to read quotes that are kinda long.........

This is just to see what this box looks like

EDIT: And IMO the boxes need to have the same border all the way around, not switching colors. I like the color of the bottom and right sides of the box, they should be that color all the way around

If this is what the boxes are like as of Sunday, 10/25, 7:00p EDST, then I'm fine with them.

You guys really like to complain. Nothing is rather really good...

I think the new quote box is way better than the old ones. They are now really smooth, and get along perfectly with GTP 9. Great Work Jordan 👍

Here's an image comparing the two quote boxes...

It's definitely easier to tell who posted what at a glance. It makes it easier to skim through a conversation and be able to understand it better.

I'm alright with new ones like in that image, but I still like the old one's better. But hey, not my choice, I'll be happy as long as they don't hurt my eyes

Jordan,

Was just wondering why we can't have the Product and Service Reviews in thier own section but under Rumble Strip (like with Local Gatherings, Ask GTP etc etc), instead of them floating up and down the main thread making it harder for people to glance at something which may interest them?

Robin

They were removed from subforum status because the area was not generating much traffic at all. The forum structure is quite complex at this point, and Jordan is looking at ways to simplify it by merging or deleting subfora that seem to have withered in popularity.

That makes sense, but how come sections like the Trading Post still has its own dedicated area?... I am quite sure that it gets far less traffic than the service reviews thread ever did but yet its still around. If simplification is the aim then way are arnt all the sub sections in the Rumble Strip just all in the main thread?
