Volkswagen Festival, Harewood, UK

Popped home this weekend so I could go to see some Vee-Dubs at the annual Harewood VW fest. Pretty good show actually, despite the typical drizzle and general overcast weather. Good mix of water-cooled and old air-cooled models, and a bunch of other VAG products too.

Discussion welcome as always, but please don't turn this thread into another debate about hardparkers, stretched tyres or slammed suspension. If you don't like the cars, fine, great. You can even say so. But bear in mind that the reason the cars are at a show is because they're largely show cars.

On with the photos:

More will be added after a few comments :) My internet is quite slow at the moment so I'm sick of uploading for the time being...

Know the owner of this from the Virtuamods forum :p
Loving the beer towel bra too, great idea!
Great photos, will be awaiting the update :)

I'm loving some of the stuff coming out of the VW scene at the minute, the beer mats are very cool, the stickered wing looks great and those chequered wheels look great! I wouldn't have thought that it would work so well but somehow it does.

I toyed with the idea of going to that. Some great pics!

I don't get a lot of these Watercooled VDubbers. The aircooled guys, on the other hand...

That blue Type 1 (Super?) is one of the cleanest cars...ever.

Glad people like the pics 👍 I'm afraid I don't have any more pics of the turqouise Beetle requested, I took only one or two pics of each car.

I know what you mean - some of it is certainly an acquired taste, such as the pink Bentley wheels on the Passat - but I liked some of the rat-look stuff like the rusty Polo, or the cars where a wing had been covered in stickers. The Polo on Porsche 924S rims at the top looked great too.

Firstly another stickered wing for Moglet, then more pics as promised:

Yes, Pedobear did put in quite a few appearances...

XD

Quite a few clean ones this batch. For some reason, though, I'm drawn to the pink Type II Surfer Camperbus...

I'll admit, I may be slowly recovering from my dislike of all things VAG.

Pedobear is getting everywhere lately!
I love the fun of this style of modding, the stickered bits of the car, the beer mats, the coloured wheels and badges etc. all make the cars look fun and different, rather than being subtle. I love it. But what I also love is how none of them are over the top IMO. There's a fine line between having fun and ruining a car and these guys appear to be able to tell exactly where it is.

Looks like a fun event! I really need to get some stuff for the GTI. That thing has so much potential for awesome. Any MKVs there?

And I'm starting to like those B5.5 Passats a lot. The family is thinking of replacing the Volvo soon and I think a W8 wagon would be awesome. Apparently dad doesn't like the fuel economy. But who really cares on a car like that?

The only one I got a photo of was this one (the first photo is awful too, apologies):

And as you can see, there was a Mk5 behind the silver one wearing Bentley rims. If I'm honest, I'm not that interested in Mk5 Golfs so I mostly ignored them!

I'll post more photos later, still going through and editing them.

More, as promised:

I liked the Porsche seats in the Polo above. The white Mk1 looked great too, you can't really tell from the photo but it's a pearl-effect white which had a blue tint in the sunlight.

I've got a few yet to post but I'll let people post a few comments first to help those whose internetz are a little slower.

I'm starting to like the look of the blacked out grille on the GTIs. I'm thinking mine might look pretty cool with the black stripe and badges then lightly smoked headlights and smoked side markers. Not a fan of those blue wheels. Maybe if I saw the whole car they'd look better.

:ouch:
