Hi,

I'm in need of some decent headphones for my ipod and well I don't know where to start and was wondering if anyone on here could please lend me a hand.

(I wasn't sure where to put this thread so I just placed it here, if a moderator can think of a more suitable section, please feel free to move it :) )

Here are some specifics that I require from the headphones:

-Must be less than $30 (I'm not asking for anything world beating here, I'm only going to be using them for when I'm walking around and as such being only 16 I don't want something flashy that's going to get stolen)
-Must be either in-ear or similar (in size I mean, I don't want some giant great big headband style headphones, something small, neat and preferably lightweight)
-Must provide some decent bass (fed up with my crappy little ones I got with the ipod in the first place)
-Must be able to handle relatively loud volume without buzzing
-Must be relatively robust and hardwearing if possible (I'm not intentionally careless with things but I have a tendency to stand on headphones, thus breaking them)

That's about it really, I know I'm asking a lot for a small price, I'd maybe push up to about $40 but that's as far as I'm willing to go.

Thanks,
Tiddy

JVC Marshmallows

$20 at Wal-Mart, comfortable, isolate out quite a bit of sound being ear-canal, solid bass, fairly clean sound at higher volumes, light. Fairly durable as well, last pair lasted about a year before I left them in a pocket and they went through the wash. That did put an end to them. But again, cheap enough that it wasn't a huge loss.

Skullcandy Ink'd

Not as well built and over do the bass to the point of ruining a great deal of music. Also aren't quite as comfortable and don't isolate quite as well. Last pair I owned lasted all of 6 months before failing.

These will do:

Koss KSC-35
Sennheiser PX-100

If you're listening to music so loud that your headphones are clipping, then I'm afraid the volume is WAY TOO LOUD.

Sounds good 👍,

I shall take them into consideration as they seem to provide everything I asked for, so unless someone posts something better I'll probably try to get a set of these, thanks Azuremen :)

EDIT: Omnis I like the look of the Sennheiser's but I'm not a big fan of the headband style, its alright for when I'm in the house but I'm not keen on walking around wearing them outside, although a quick check on Amazon and I see the OMX 180's look more like what I'm looking for, does anyone have any experience with them? Oh and I know what your saying about the volume but I am talking about the rubbishy 1$ ones you get with the ipod that clip even when the ipod is only at around 3/4 volume so I'm not really listening to it that loud.

The JVC Marshmallows mentioned above are good sound quality and look cool. The cord is pretty short, and the ear buds are somewhat odd, though. I own a pair. They're not bad for $12 at all though.

Sennheiser CX 300 II are £13.15 at Amazon uk which is a bargain. I've got them and a few other people I've recommended them to all say they are great. They get very good reviews and seem to meet your requirements, probably not dissimilar to the JVC's although I can vouch for the strong bass they reproduce.

Are you in the UK?

Anything Sennheiser to be honest.
I have a pair of CX 500 in ear ones that were about £20-ish, a pair of running ones that were £15 and a some HD202 headphones that were about 60AUD a couple of years back.
All of them excellent quality and hard wearing!
Would definitely recommend!
👍

I'm glad I haven't been recommending garbage to my mates, many years of clubbing in my yoof have left my hearing far prom pristine :scared:

The CX 300 ii's also come with 3 different ear bud sizes, a carrying pouch and "eco" packaging although it uses a ridiculous amount of cardboard!

My friends sennheiser headphones have gone through the wash and still work, the bass is incredible and sound quality is excellent! The pair he has cost him 100aud but well worth it. I am hoping to get some while I'm here in japan but I only have a few days left :/

Well I put sound ahead of style. They might have the same drivers in an ear clip format.

I highly recommend these also, i've my set for a few months now and they've been used and abused but still work perfectly, whether it's been for movies, gaming or music they have produced a high quality, strong sound everytime. A real bargain. 👍

Well given the strong recommendation of the CX 300 II's I think I'll be picking up a set of those from Amazon, Thanks for the help everyone, its much appreciated 👍
