Seems I'll go for tickets in the Welcome Center (new building) at arrival.

Weather will be cloudy and max 20°C it seems. They added rain to the picture, there goes my motorcycle idea, will get too complicated when clothing gets wet and I'm staying outside all day.

OK, I got back.

The weather ended up better then expected, but 10° C seemed very cold for Hell.

Got out very early to arrive a bit after 0800. I could drive over 200 km/h to get there, it is in Germany :). Then going through the buildings to get a ticket, whoow impressive infrastructure, Aston Martin clothing shop, ...!

First I saw the GT1 in the boxes, getting ready for their morning free run. First group of trucks is only GT1, so I was looking for the GT4 stands and then RJN. The stands were just next to the rest and RJN quite at the start, so easy to find.

Everyone was there, looks like they are ready for the day.

I first decide to run a bit around and take some pictures of the GT1 free practice.
Then the GT4 formation seemed to have started:

Never saw the technical team do the last minute checks before:

Did the race start, I could here cars.
Then I notice I´m very well in Nurburg and I see the burg.

The noise, in the picture on the bottom right, the Grüne Hölle is very near:

There the GT4 bunch was starting:

Lots of position changes and pits stops during the practice, but it is the time that counts:

Some people came in early, with more then worrying real damage.

The RJN team does not seem to have big luxury in the pits:

After the race I go back to the RJN stand, Lucas and Jordan arrive first, so they seem to have done the first part of the practice.

The I see this guy, Luca Lorenzini, first I had some doubts, but then he started speaking in Italian with the family of Jordan:

So I had a little conversation with him. He had the opportunity to come to Nurburg which he had not seen yet, so he took the opportunity. To start a real racing career, it is mainly the budget that is an issue for him. Example renewing the International Licence he got through the GT Academy would cost 1000€. He seemed very comfortable with the RJN team.

In a short conversation with Jordan it seems:
He prefers the yellow on the Nb1 car:

Actually the conversation was about the change of colour of the car. He stated before the black colour was attracting heat, but it seems the yellow comes from the choice of using a different plate work on the car.

He was also looking with worry on the few drops that were falling, heis OK with wet weather if it is not too wet, some really bad rainfall has hit the region recently. It seems some of the time during the session on Friday it got really dangerous.

Lucas was busy with the team, so I decided going for the next ADAC races, and I walked in on the technical team recuperating the cars:

Still waiting for our steering wheels on PS3 to be able to do this:

Afterwards there was the GT1 Qualification, I now remember why I prefer GranTurismo to real life racing:

It was a fun day at the Nurburgring!

Was that pile up in qualification? That is weird.

Seems you had again a nice day. I wish I could have joined you but the work on the house for our family enlargment is take too much time. Maybe next year.

That pile up was in the Qualification Race.

And nice report, however I do find it funny that you tend to ignore both GT3 and GT1 in preference to GT4. Whilst I know this is a Gran Turismo forum and generally people are interested in how Lucas & Co are doing in the series it would be nice if you included more action from the other races, I know quite a few people who prefer GT1 and GT3 over GT4. When I saw the GT4 race at Silverstone it certainly wasn't the highlight of the day especially in comparison to the action packed racing of both the GT1 and GT3.

But whatever floats your boat I guess.

I concentrate on meeting the GT Academy winners and RJN team and put priority on this. I did not try to talk to other teams, but ...

I loved the races last weekend (still have a lot to process):

There were Covettes in all races (respect, I once lost it, but I completely regained Corvette respect).

I also put parking pictures in the event spotting thread:https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=118094&page=28#post3990653

================

The Pile up was in the Qualifying race indeed, it seems that it is a real race, but does not count as such, it only counts to get in the final race and determines your position in that race.

Gotta love the sound of real life racing Corvettes. The stole my heart too when I first saw them racing.

Cheers for putting some of the GT1 and GT3 photographs up 👍 The qualifying race determines positions for the Championship Race, but also gives the drivers some championship points, of course the Championship Race gives the most.

To give some other comments on the races:

GT4 is quite dispersed as a race.

the GT3 ADAC was really close, the first 3 rounds or so there was only one car that was lagging, then the field spread more.

the GT1 is the same, the first rounds the cars were very close, then you had it more in groups of 3-5 cars that seemed to stick together and had battles at every breaking/accelerating point.

From the car sounds the ones that most stand out is the Porsche Flat 6.
I would not have guessed but it was my experience this weekend.

Indeed the Corvette in GT3 was very nice too as well as the Viper.
The R8, Aston Martin, Z4 etc just did not have the same charm.

Also the exhaust flames surprised me (not my picture, but Stu.G on Flickr):

I only have 1 picture with them, not uploaded yet.

Sure the Porsche flat 6 is sensational too to hear. Raw and metallic.

The Vettes sound low and very very loud.
