Search Function Problem

It appears that the search function does not work for words with less than 4 letters.
I found this when trying to search for "HUD".
I don't know if this is a configurable option for the forums, but if it is I think it would be a good idea to at least lower it to 3, if not 2.

As far as I know, that's hard coded into the vBulletin forums so there's not alot we can do.

The google search will find 2 and 3 letter words though, but you can't restrict it to a certain forum like you can with the advanced search.
 
As stated, it's part of Vbulletin. Indexing the forums for searching shorter words would dramatically increase the server load by exponentially increasing the number of words it needs to keep track of. It's inconvenient, yes, but less inconvenient than crashing the server.
 
Too bad, I thought that might be the case where it was built into vBulletin.

And Duke, as a database administrator with 20 years of experience working with datawarehouses that dwarf this site and having my papers published with MS SQL Server, I can tell you that what you stated is not true.
No sense in writing out a huge technical explanation since there is nothing we can do to change it.
