Well I wanted to talk about some serious stuff here. GT5 Online freeze is very big issue for all kind of players. Last month I played GT5 online a lot, I joined rooms, I created private lobbies, I created open internet lobbies (with and without friends), and everywhere I go i see some freeze (me or other players and friends reporting this to me) and only way to go, is to restart or quit the GT5 game (just in case, I have very good internet connection, my NAT type is 2, everything is fine in that area). This is a big thing and I see very small amount of people talking about it (and I know it does happen almost to everyone I asked), for some regulary for some rare, but it happens and it have to be fixed.
Problems starts when you play the game for some time, and then you go to "Open Lobby" when you enter, it just dont load any of pages and when you press "exit back to GT life" or "create game" it just freezes, tryed to wait for 10 min alot of times and more, just have to leave the game presing "PS3 button" and "Quit game" to restart then it works fine (sometimes it doesn't work at all, it seems it works better at the morning when people are at work) 50% of the time when I try to enter there I freeze, other guys more, other less. Ahhh yes, and it works Perfect every time when you are creating "Private lobby" (the white coffe cup), so this part is "Open Lobby" issue.
Next thing is when you created or joined lobby (doesnt really matter), you get alot of freeze in there, and only way to exit is Quit the game and rejoin. It starts when you enter lobby and for some reason you deside to look how other drivers are driving, everything is fine, until they have finished, when that happens for some reason game just freeze on results (dont get me wrong, not every time, but 30% of time it does, for alot of people), everybody who just had a race, for them everything is fine, but for you - freeze, so have to restart game. This problem can be "solved" by quiting "wach race" mode before finish.
Next thing is when you are a host of the "Open lobby" game (and I think in "Private lobby" as well), when race just had ended you cannot perform "vote track" or "choose track" action (not every time, its rare but it happens) you can perform any action, just can't select next track (icon is inactive). The only way you can fix this is to race again on this track that before and then it works (sometimes after some time it lets you to choose, but most of the time not - just race again), I noticed it happens a lot more in "Top gear test track" and its annoying (today it happened one time, after all day playing, other days alot more).
Next thing when you stay in the lobby (lets say playing with friends with microphone) just go and make some tea or sandwhich while other are racing, and when you got back game is in Freeze state, and again you have to restart it. So it dosnt like when you left it alone for a while (this never happened to me, but a lot of friends said it hapens, and today I was a host and saw with my own eyes this happening to many of my friends.)
There are more things to do, to get Freeze, but I cant remember at the moment, this I described was most, lets say "popular". :indiff:
All this I described isnt just me, I talked to GT5 users who plays alot online, they all sayd "yes this happens".. what do you think about this? do you have this kind of problems Online or other? Maybe someone will know how to fix this.

PS. 95% of the time online works great, but those 5% that doesn't are sitting on my nerves a bit, since I love this game. ::ouch:

So today I got again this Freeze thing (with my friend I joined to him, we both wached and both got Freeze), didnt leave "wach race" mode, got this freeze when all guys finished and time ended, after that nothing happened (only thing I could press is PS button), had to Quit the game, and didnt find that lobby again... (connected to different) that sucks bad :(

Anyone having this? I don't believe none of you GT planet guys dont have this issue...

Mine has froze in the past a few times, not while doing anything in particular just waiting for the lobby screen to load up mainly, it seems to have eased off now though.

Sometimes signing out of the PSN works for me and I don't need to quit the game. Once the game realises you are not connected it stops trying and returns you to GTLife.
This works for freezing while searching for lobbies in 'Open Lounge' and while at menus.

The only time I have to quit the game is when it freezes while already in a lobby. This has happened a few times, either in the lobby itself or after a race at the results screen.

happened to me yesterday, pulled out the modem cable and it went back to gt mode

No idea what is going on today, keep getting disconnected from the server everytime I go in to a lobby. Actually managed to finish 1 race just now but got disconnected at the finish line.

I remain signed in to PSN so it must be an issue with the GT5 server.

Tried signing out of PSN, resetting modem etc. but to no avail it really is frustrating, I have never had this problem before.

Anyone know what the problem is ?

Happens A LOT to me. Have NAT type 2 so I shouldn't be having these problems - and I haven't had problems in other games neither.

This, and only this, freezing thing is ruining my online experience. It can happen 3 times in a row. In games with excellent connection and avaerage quality. Everywhere. PD has to fix this!

oh, thanks mate, this is what I was looking for, I think dissconecting my router from energy now will help with the "Open Lobby" freeze. Thanks! Will try it out for sure. 👍

hope they going to fix this soon, this still cannot be used when you are in the open lobby with friends connected, it will just kick you out anyway. :nervous:

Please help! What should I do!!??
I have to go about 2 -10 times into "Open Lobby" so it does not freeze. this for me is every day thing, go there it freeze, then restart. Then after a 30 -50 minutes of hard work restarting my PS3 I finaly can create Lobby or join one! great. (as I sayd before Its all fine with my internet, with internet settings, and router is working great everythin setted just right) its just that GT servers that dont work..

but now its a new thing, now I got dissconected after every 2 - 5 hours of playing.. im a host every day and creating just great races (everyone just loves how i create rooms and hositng) but now its a nightmere for me to create somehing. At start I have to try to join and then In any time i can be dissconected with no warnign.. :((

Now - After this latest 1.06 update it got everything worse! and I hoped PD will fix this stuff...

EDIT: pleae visit GTP feedback and vote if you have same problems as me! thanks!

Never had those problems. Damn if I did I would completely reinstall everything on my PS3 from scratch though, to see if that would fix it. If I was using wireless for PS3 connection I would try wired CAT5 connection. I might even buy a new router or try a different/ better one to see if that helps.. Just try different things to fix it. If PS3 was less than a year old I would get a replacement from Sony, who knows- something might be wrong with it.

I went in an online lobby today, I changed my car, tried to enter race, and when it did a black screen appeared, and a white Gran Turismo 5 appeared in the bottom right hand side of my TV. I thought, hmm, loading. Yeah well that loading froze my TV for 30 minutes. They really should close Prologue servers now because if you pretty much bought Prologue 3 YEARS AGO!!! Then you should have bought GT5 already. GT5 needs the leaderboards already, and better online servers, so close it down, let the people who spent good money on GT5 get what they deserve. Of course, this happens about 15% of the time, but it still annoys me.

I think there's something weird going on at the servers or somewhere at the moment. I've had more freezes today than I've had in the whole month. GT life Menu, online, everywhere where you need PSN somehow. And it keeps disconnecting me from PSN with some 80710xxxx error. Weird...

There are huge solar CME storms today.. could have something to do with it.

http://www.spaceweather.com/

GEOMAGNETIC STORM IN PROGRESS: A major geomagnetic storm is in progress following the impact of a CME on August 5th around 1800 UT. Sky watchers at all latitudes should be alert for auroras after nightfall. Tip: the best hours for aurora sightings are usually around local midnight.

Reports of Northern Lights are coming in from many European countries including Germany, Denmark, Scotland and the Netherlands

Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab say that the CME impact may have strongly compressed Earth's magnetic field, directly exposing satellites in geosynchronous orbit to solar wind plasma. Stay tuned for updates on this aspect of the storm.

The problem has been ongoing since the 1.10 patch and has nothing to do with weather anomalies. It's at the point where I don't bother going online any longer until it's fixed.

Yep, signing out it's what i do in that case, Always works.

Talking about other cases when you have to quit it's really annoying, if it happen like 3-4 times in a row you start to think about playing other games.

I have this problem sometimes since 1.09, Pd need to resolve this kind of issues, expecially because now 90% of the player are only interested in the online part.

Temetias. said ''I've had more freezes today than I've had in the whole month.'' A magnetic storm on the scale we saw yesterday can cause more problems than usual.

Often freeze to me is when i'm on the track and i press start than quit so i can go fine tune settup my car and bam it freezes on that screen and i have to reset my GT5.

PD REALY HAVE TO FIX THIS **** BECOUSE AFTER 3 FREEZES IN 10 MINUTES PEOPLE START TO GET AGRAVATED. ESPECIALY WHEN YOU HAVE TO STARE AT THE LOADING SCREEN FOR 5 MILION YEARS BEFORE THE GAME LOADS.:grumpy:

It just pisses me off badly... i don't think it takes a NASA scientist to fix this problem...
I would realy like to know what is the PD staff doing all day at work...
Does anyone have any way of knowing what are they "working" on at the moment or what are there plans or somthing that would give me a reason to calm down when the game freezes... Like ARRG it froze again... oh but wait there working on the new 25 tracks and there working on puting rims on standard cars... that would calm me down... at least knowing there doing somthing... witch i doubt.

Hopefully all this will be fixed in the August patch by PD.

same problems and keep getting network incompatability error 717, any one getting this error message all the time.

Kaz has said the servers aren't working at there full potential yet, or even working properly for that matter.

With a little luck, I will get passed the main menu's. Dealership takes very long to load for me. I stopped playing for a couple of weeks because of this server problem and I get fed up waiting.

After about an hour of playing, restart the PS3. It works wonders.

I have tried to play online races for over a month now and it freezes every time i try.
I can get int to the game but when it loads cars it freezes i have tried wlan and cable, my router and everything else is the same as before this problem, music also freezes, it play again in about 5min for 1-2seconds. Please help.

Just turned off my 1.5 yr slim console off with ps3 button after online freeze result in the xmb it does not show any discs anymore !!

I have been complaining for weeks with sony now on the tel and diff case numbers are made !

I will call Sony tomorrow and tell them if they or PD sell games that are damaging consoles that i will take further steps towards Sony and PD !!

sorry if wrong thread , but is this just online ? i am freezing in arcade and practice .
hope it is not my ps3.

If your router has a firewall, and PS3 is giving You NAT2, it might be
So called NAT2.5 :)

You have to make a static ip for ps3, and run it in DMZ in order to disable firewall.

Heres how to do it --> http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610541

I have myself a Telewell 510 modem/router and by plugging from port 3 or 4
It gives me NAT 1. Port 3 and 4 doesnt have a firewall.
