GT5 hanging/freezing.. getting disconnected, missing gift cars HELP~!

This problem has been going on for me since the release of GT5, I've posted elsewhere and I need answers.. Its killing the game for me.

I have a confirmed good connection and I'm not using wireless so that isn't the problem. I remain logged into the PSN throughout this ordeal.

I got disconnected with a black screen that says "you have been disconnected from the server" roughly 6 times over the period of 2 hours today.. Sometimes it happens within the first few minutes of joining a hosts server. Sometimes just before a race begins sometimes during and sometimes after a race. It happens all the time! My online lobby some times freezes, sometimes when I first load the game and the GT5 logo appears but the network info in white writing underneath doesn't so I have to restart.

Today a buddy gifted me his Oreca Viper, the car I've been keen to get for a long time. So I jumped over to the community section with a big smile ready to claim my gift. Took a little while no big deal, it says my gift has been received Awesome!! never done that before. So now I'm taken back to the main menu where you select GT mode / arcade mode etc.. and my little arrow thing doesn't pop up (another regular occurrence for me and no-one else apparently) so I restart the machine after waiting roughly 10 minutes. GT5 loads, I go into my garage, no sign of it. Look all over the place. Oh terrific. FAIL!

Now, wtf is going on here. It appears my GT5 wont work without the CD even though I installed it onto the hard drive and it took forever. GT5 appears with the image of a CD next to it, telling me its looking at the CD and disappears when I remove the CD. Am I supposed to load GT5 from somewhere else if I've installed it onto the HDD or will it appear in my games list as normal??

you still need the game disk to play and the car would be in the car delivery truck if you accepted the gift, as for your internet issues i would contact your provider to see if you have fast enough service.

Just to let you know, if it freezes while you are logged into PSN, Try logging out and logging back in to your PSN acount while still in the game. This has gotten the game moving again (un frozen) for me when it had lost connection to the server.

I suppose I should mention I don't always pick servers with the fastest speed. But more so the ones that are using the track / restrictions I want. I'll start using some of the servers with 4 bars or so because at the moment I'm usually joining ones with only 1 or 2 bars.
