Resolved: GT5 no online access - enable chat function.

Some background info:
I enjoyed online GT5P racing with my PS3. Then for over a year it lay there gathering dust awaiting the release of GT5. When I bought my PS3 several years ago I set up PSNID AMG911. When we introduced the GTP prefix on this site for online racing I created another account on the PS3. I carried on racing online with the new ID GTP_AMG. I never looked back at amg911.

Since the release of GT5 I have not been able to access online options within GT5 with the GTP_AMG id. I was seriously considering switching to another provider but that's such a hassle. I had resigned myself to not have access to GT5 online.

Yesterday evening, I read a PSN message from a fellow GTPer and, call it a fluke, I decided to logoff from GTP_AMG and logon to AMG911.
Then I activated GT5 and to my surprise I was able to access the Online races, Seasonal Events and the OCD.
My whole "GT5 career" however sits on my GTP id and I would love to rejoin GTP (member) hosted races as GTP_AMG.

What have I checked sofar:
- Well I've cleared the network cache, in options, within GT5 (logged in as GTPAMG) to see if that would allow online access. - No.
- I've gone through other options in the XMB to see if I could find something that need (re)setting. For the life of me I can't find it.

Help needed:
Is there anyone here that has a good idea where I should be looking or what I should do to resolve this issue?

One simple question - is your GTP account a sub-account of your usual main account?

If so, did you notice a message as you start your game in your GTP account saying that online functions are not accessible because chat function is disabled for your account?

What you need to do, if such is the case, is that you login your main account, select the option "account management" and uncheck the box that disallows your subaccount to use the chat function, under the parental control tab if I remember correctly.

I was in the exact situation as you were before. Hope this helps.

Oops, yes I did fail to mention the chat warning. I'll look in to it and report back!
