Hi to all those RUF / Porsche racers!
First off I want to give a special thanks to those that showed up for the Porsche Cup® I hosted yesterday for a few hours (approx 6-9:30pm CT).
It provided a great time for Porsche / RUF lovers to run their "Stable" with no but's and no substitution's. The reasoning is that these cars have some interesting handling characteristics that separates it from the field. This provided a collaboration which in turn was quite fun!
If you joined with no RUF and you got booted, you didn't follow the theme
. If you bring a RUF next time your sure not to be booted to go get one.

Sharing Setups, Testing, Tuning, and Running
Sharing of settings and helping others improve their experiences with the RUF's was a great time. An eye opener for some to how well these can perform without reducing these to technical Drifting Machines, and to experience some nice settings people would share and give out.
What made it work
Surprisingly it turned out some tight races between all the range of RUF cars mainly due to the 591hp limit bracket (>5 sec to leader finish for last place with 8 people at times). Bar none this was a good time as some will attest that log here at GT Planet to this.
Imagine most of a lap at Norde' (Nordschleife Route Nürburgring) you could see a constant stream of Porsche's (RUF's) in the rear-view mirror or in front, even through some skinny but hairy sections.
I also found it mildly successful in running the room with the only aid of Traction Control (TCS) in order to cater to a wide field of racers. Mainly to avoid frustrating moments for those starting to get used to the RUF/Porsche's handling characteristics (which separates it from the rest of the field). I could see alternating between off/on settings to make it interesting. I run sometimes with no traction control, but its a ton more work compared to having the option with these cars. I believe it made things more enjoyable for some that don't have the opportunity to crank out more then 15hrs a week in the game (myself included). But to each his own conclusion ya know.
Having said a bit earlier about handling characteristics, it truly separates it from the rest of the field, this is more relevant in the tuning and driving of these machines.
Any person wielding a RUF in the run of the mill races will tell you that it takes a bit more precision, and focus as the cars are not as forgiving compared to most of the cars in GT5. This is especially true when not running a CTR2 '96 (which is all-wheel drive and provides alot more stability).
Point
The point of my post is to encourage more races like this and to announce I'll be hosting more events like this in the future. I'm not going to commit to a dedicated schedule as I have a job that requires some extended hours (IT), and I have a family to take care of. I will more then likely host these events on Tuesday and Thursday nights (7:30-9pm CT) and Friday evenings on and off as time free dictates.
This isn't exclusive, just sharing about something a group of us enjoyed doing, so this doesn't hinder you from hosting events like this as well, more like promote events like that. I might even show up too
-Peace
