I load up the race, check my driving options and what do I see? SRF in the ON position w/ the toggle disabled.

Ahh, I've yet to take to the track on the bonus races. I was getting on with the time trials.

Don't know what you people are talking about. No SRF when I did the race. My RX-7 was sliding all over the place:)

The track is just plain slick, but take a look at the options menu before the race (where you pick your tires) you will see SRF is locked on.

Your can still coax a low-speed spinout if you're really trying, but anything resembling elegant drifting maneuvers are impossible.

Can anyone please put some more light on this?

Thanx in advance.

Skid recovery force basically locks your car into an arching turn, eleminating wheelspin, based on your current speed and the car's cornering ability. At higher speeds it will allow for some truly unrealistic driving behaviors, especially in rear wheel drive cars.

Do the races , win them and forget them. Don't think about the SRF.

You've said it all, there. I used to really, REALLY look forward to the seasonal events for a variety of reasons, all of which are now obscured by the SRF nanny blanket. Sigh...

And for the record, as far as I know, nothing PD has done w/ this latest patch was anywhere near my top 5 issues w/ the game. Still waiting for adjustable in-car POV, pre-race qualifying in A Spec, the ability to leave and return to a championship to change my oil, personalized music in online races, and more Mazda Miatas. Hundreds more.

Especially that last thing.

Haha, I know what the SRF is, I was hoping that OP was not right, thus asking for "more light" :)

Shame for forced SRF, it ruined Licenses, now it ruins Bonus Races.

Well...everybody seems pretty happy with the latest update. PD had to put something in there to keep the incessant complainers happy...er...I mean unhappy. I guess it's the mandatory SRF.

But you can turn it ON. You always COULD.

Why on Earth I can't turn it OFF?

First Licenses made joke with forced SRF, now Bonus Races too.

Why?

Yup this was a real misstep. Everything about this update was so positive till I did the RX7 race. It was a real WTF moment. But hey, its not a PD game without the bonehead decisions.

I tweeted @kaz_yamauchi "Please remove mandatory Skid Recovery Force from the Seasonal Events. Thank you." Maybe if he gets enough of these he'll fix it. Can't hurt.

THank you very much man, appreciated 👍

exactly it's not the end of the world really is it

Please, understand.

It does not bother you, but there are many people outthere that drive without any assist, especially SRF.

So, you can drive with SRF on and no problem there. But I can't drive because I want it off. It does not bother you, but it does bother somebody.

You never get what you want.
I want it off too but now they´re on and you can´t change it.

You never get what you want...

A common sentiment on these forums, but simply not true. I could easily get what I want if they were to give it to me. At which point I'll want something else, no doubt. And I'll gladly wait my turn on the priorities list if, in the meantime, they'll refrain from ****ing up the good bits, i.e. shoving driving aids down my throat.

That said, there's still plenty of great driving fun to be had in the online portion of the game and it should go without saying that I've gotten more than my $60 worth out of it thus far, but it seems like this latest 'tweak' to the seasonal events is nothing short of a middle finger to the more simulation-oriented fans of the series.

This has got to be a mistake. I just hope that it was an oversight in the configuration for this race, not something that requires another patch to fix.

Wouldn't it be absolutely hilarious if what they meant to do was lock it in the 'off' position? It'd make a bit more sense that way, while still being completely unnecessary of course.

Agreed. This is rubbish.

Why should I be forced to use an aid?

(Although, not sure if this has anything to do with it, but the AI was ALL OVER THE PLACE in this race. Some of them spun out/wrecked. Never seen that happen before.)

After playing the Mazda race, I'm sure it's got to be a mistake. There's no point of that race with SRF. (Although the AI didn't seem to use it lol.)
