I've done Daytona in Red Bull X1's, and NASCAR's, and I reckon it's about time for another one off special event, looking at about a months time for it...

Im celebration of the 100 years of the Indianapolis 500, I figure a 100 lap race in FGT's is appropriate to honour its centenary.

~RACE INFO~
Track - Indianapolis Superspeedway
Laps - 100
Fuel Use / Tyre Wear - On
Tyres - Racing Hard
Driving Aids - All off except for ABS
Grip Reduction - Real
Damage - Full
Cautions - None

~PRIZE~
?????

~ENTRIES~

Suggestions and Entries welcome!

It would be end of April, and I'd make sure it wouldn't clash with my TOCA or NASCAR series.

I am interested in this but one thing I noticed was I was going to buy the Blue FGT from the OUCD but it only came wiht 880hp. As I have 2 other FGTs that are 955hp and 935hp are you going to set a max of say 900hp or more?

I'd be up for this. As of now my FGT has been sitting in my garage, neglected due to my inability to do the FGT Championship...what time would it be at?

I'd be up for it depending on the time and day, but I'm wondering why its not the Indy 500.

Around 7pm GMT possibly?

And all my special events I've run are exactly half of the real thing's length...

I'm wondering if you're going to try to attempt the same kind of Qualifying procedure as it's done in the real-life Indy 500 race(average speed over 4 flying laps). The best shot at replicating this would Maybe have 2 cars on the track doing a 5 lap race and someone would keep track of the lap time the car that is doing via looking at the Timing and Scoring screen while they're in the Lobby. The last 4 laps of that 5 lap sesson would be the laps that would be counted. After that, ou'd have the cars line up on the track in the order they qualified in and then start the main race with the perscribed 100 laps.

By the way, I'm thinking this would be a interesting challenge to try, but I got to get the virtual funds for that car saved up first and try to resist making any non-essential purchases beforehand.:O

I really like this idea! And since I only live an hour away from the real track and go there multiple times a year, I'd love to participate! One suggestion though, to stick to the realism you'd need to set a power and weight limit. The Indy cars all use the same engines with the same power and I believe are all the same weight.

I think it would be even more awesome if you did qualifying just like they do. On the weekend before the race you could have everybody do 3 lap qualifying races (half distance of real qualifying, first lap being used to get up to speed). Just 1 car on track for the qualifying race, and take the average of their last 2 laps. You could do Qualifying on Saturday and Bump Day on Sunday, then line everybody up manually on Race Day. Then we could have a big practice session on Thursday before the race for Carb Day. 👍

Also, are we allowed to do a oil change, engine overhaul and chassis maintenance after we get our cars to make them 'like new'?

Sounds a little too complicated.

The FGT can't be modded in tuning shop, so this should not be a problem.

Yes.

Why not restrict the horsepower for the Formula Gran Turismos so that the lap times are in the real life Indy 500 range? That would also keep the cars even.

But all cars are not quite identical. Different teams have different capabilities with their cars.

And Andretti Autosport, Chip Ganasse spend a few million dollars on aerodynamics testing to MAKE SURE they dominate the oval tracks, so some of their drivers (not all but a girl I'm thinking of) can F up the road courses and still have a chance at finishing up in points.
