Fantastic race at the Nürburgring. PP limit was 500 and tyre restriction was Sports Hard.

People taking part:
RUF RGT '00: OK8_ (clutch, h-shifter, no ABS)
Chevrolet Camaro SS '10: themainman1980
Lotus Evora '09: Jet-Black_

There were others aswell but they got left behind pretty soon.

None of us knew eachother before this race but still everyone was really fair and the race was really clean. I stayed behind to wait for themainman because I felt I was atleast 50% responsible for the accident (though there wasn't much I could do). That didn't mean I gave him any slack though. :D

I'm sorry for the slight motionblur in the video. I wrestled with this problem for hours and this is the best I could do. Trust me, other than the beginning you don't really notice it.

Great video and awesome battle! Were you racing w/o ABS? I thought I saw you lock up the front left tire entering the carousel.

Yes I never use ABS. If you change brake balance to 4/1 (or some people use 2/1) it's controllable and it adds a whole new element to driving. In real life you can't just stamp on the anchors and come to a standstill straight and true like it is when you use abs and that's why I like it, makes it more a challenge.

No abs, no aids, clutch and h-shifter. That's how I like to play this game.

Very good race. Reminds us why we play racing games. :D

I also drive with no aids and h-pattern and clutch. (Turbo S)
 
Rarely you can see such fun and fair battle online. Most of the ppl just tend to ram you off the track.
 
So naive, overtaking you before the straight. Oh well...

Anyway, it was a very enjoying race. My heart skipped a beat or two @ 1:55

Well you can actually let him overtake you on the straight and then use his sleepstreem and more top speed for you to take him down on the way down to the last few corners. I actually prefer that :P

I try to avoid abusing slipstream like that. It just feels wrong.

I have huge respect for you. When the race was actually happening I though "why is he forfeiting" but it is true you can't slipstream as much in real life as you can in this game. Had you not overtaken me before straight and slipstreamed past me on the straight, I would've abused the slipstream and tried to re-overtake you without thinking about it.

Hope PD fix it.

And besides, I made a small mistake after the straight so if you hadn't crashed you could've overtaken me again there which would've absolutely sealed the deal.

Thanks a lot for your comment. Once I started making this video everything just sort of locked into place and it was really easy. I had huge problems with the motion blur though but towards the end you don't even notice it.

The race ofcourse was just pure enjoyment.

The server was hosted by a friend of mine so atleast I was near to the host, but I doubt the others had much lag either since they appear to move so smoothly. Don't know.

Amazing driving from all 3 drivers the consideration for the other cars whilst turning was just pure skill imo... and how it should be done! dont think id attempt to go out on the ring with no abs tho ;)
 
I appreciate your comments but I don't think racing without ABS is such a big deal. All you have to do is change the brake balance to your liking and then move your foot a bit while braking (which happens almost automatically when doing heel and toe). The reason I do it is I don't like the ABS in gt, you can absolutely floor the pedal and almost nothing happens, feels unrealistic and unfair.

But I'm happy to see that although most people use ABS I still don't seem to be in a disadvantage. In fact, most people use paddles to shift but with the stick and clutch I still don't feel like I'm in a disadvantage, which means I can race how I want but still be competitive. 👍

Thanks! I think I pushed a bit too hard there because Jet-Black_ was putting such pressure on me but luckily I recovered. Two corners after that I weren't so lucky :)

I had a little battle of my own at the 'ring the other night. Muscle cars only, all detuned to 450pp mean drafting was the only way to get speed. Car in front of me for most of the race was slower in the turns but faster on the straights. I couldn't make a clean pass without him blocking so i just waited for him to make a mistake.

 
Chuyler1 that was quite cool. Nice of you to get so many people actually racing muscle cars and nice of you to not be using racing soft tyres with them.

It's hard to make a clean pass anywhere with those landyachts but still it was a nice battle, nice hijinx on the straight too!
 
Yeah, I force everyone to use sport soft tires, it adds more driver skill to the mix. Virtually no clean passing zones except for the one I used on the 2nd lap to get around the orange charger. He had a very loose rear end. It looks like we made contact but he actually kicked the tail out of his car on the curbing which kind of made my pass look bad. I probably could have avoided his draft on the final straight if the other car wasn't stopped in the middle of the track. I went wide trying to at least keep momentum but the grass slowed me down considerably. In any case, I enjoy the action through the twisties and if someone draft passes me at the end its no big deal. Him running wide on the last turn was just a bonus :)
