458 Italia is one of my most favourite cars in the game, but since the MP4 is the top Spec-B prize car, I always thought it'd be a great car also. Unfortunately I could never like the MP4; it was always extremely twitchy in stock form, and on even slightly bendy road it was totally hopeless.

I just chalked it up to it being a new car and GT5 didn't model it right, or they just really wanted to advertise the F1.

Well, as it turned out, its real life reviews on both Fifth Gear (1) and Top Gear (2) are exactly what I found in GT5. I'm very impressed with GT5 right now.

Saw the top gear reviews of both the 458 and Zonda R and it appears GT5 got both of them right! So yeah, I think they did a tremendous job modeling the physics of the cars!

Yeah, still can't settle with the McLaren but love the Ferrari.

Anyone know why Fifth Gear is filming on the Top Gear track?

I tested both of them yesterday and today in GT5 due to the recent comparisons (some more than just 5th gear and top gear which come to the same conclusion) and as you guys and the real life comparisos, I also have the same results in GT5.

Which leaves me happy about GT5 but kinda dissapointed for the MP4-12c.

I think I recall the car was tested and created around the TG Test Track but not in conjunction with Top Gear themselves. :)

Anybody try racing a ford gt up against a 458... I swear the races are so close... Dont matter what track you're on... I've always found a good battle when im up against a 458

Ford GT rips the 458 apart, even with 100hp less. And I'm a Ferrari guy.

Torque it's the name of the game.

Stock for stock my persoal testing has shown me the 458 Italia beats out the Ford GT, epecially on Nurburgring even though the GT still accelerates a little harder.

Last time I tried 458 vs GT, the GT was 2 seconds faster in Suzuka. Totally stock, on Sports Hard.

I love the MP4 and The 458, to be honest they are 2 of my favourite new super cars around!!
i love the way they both handle so well, they both have 7 speeds, lots of power, and a great sound.
and really, the 3.8 litre turbo charged motor of the MP4 is just an awsome powerplant

The Ford GT was specifically designed against the Ferrari 360. It was their benchmark. Everyday they took a 360 to the track and tested the Ford GT against it to make it better until they were satisfied it would destroy it.

So it made sense that the Ford GT is competitive against the 458 since it was build superior to Ferrari's known handling.

Interesting that they got this one right also. Good job PD.

I sort of race modded my 458 to death. Carbon bonnet, spoilers etc. It certainly is fun to drive. Gaunt really had much to do with the mclaren yet.

Yeah, I destroyed some 458 fool online last night at the 24h Nurb. track. I think a lot of people overlook how wonderful a car the Ford GT is.

Full disclosure: I prefer the MP4-12c to my 458.

The 458 is still faster than the MP4 I think.

Yeah we driving both of them every day...
Reviews are biased, and everybody has their tastes so I don't think that listening to the reviewers are good way.

BTW autocar.co.uk says that MP4-12C destroys 458 every time, but it doesn't matter. For that performance and price it becomes just personal taste.

I did a quick test around Autum Ring, a track with lots of corners that should be a good benchmark of a road car's handling. Five quick laps to see which one pulled the fastest time, and the 458 ended up being like 0.6 seconds faster.

The 458 have a bit more traction on the rear tires coming out of the corners, but the front tires tend to get red and lose traction a lot, ending up un understeering.

The MP4, on the other side, slides the back end when on gas, it's a bit wild putting the horses to the road, making it a bit more twitchy coming out of the corners if you are heavy footed but nothing to go crazy calling it a disappointment. Still a confortable car to ride.

The 458 is better than the MP4-12C (But I still like the MP4 though as much as the Ferrari), and wow it's amazing how GT5 got the driving physics accurate, I mean this is a job well done for PD, just yesterday we thought gt1's driving physics were realistic. I really wonder what the future holds for Gran Turismo and PD, just imagine how realistic the Physics for GT6 and beyond will be.

I prefer the 458 because it handles just like the NSX type r 02, but scaled up. The rear of the car is SO glued to the road compared to other MR road cars. I have both of them in my favorites.

the 458 is one of the best cars in real life or the game. I like the MP4-12C in real life because it looks cool and has a nice interior, but personally I hate driving it in gt5.

Laptime wise in GT5 I can run the MP4-12c as fast as the 458, however I can drive the 458 more consistantly, I think if it were over the space of a long race then i would be a lot faster in the 458, but over a single lap they are within 0.1-0.2s at top gear test track for example. In my fastest times list the MP4 is actually slightly ahead on that track.

Well, I like both, the mp4 is cool and good to drive...
But i have mooooore fun driving the 458 Italia, it handles perfectly on every track (and it's too beautiful).

Don't care wich is faster, I'M faster with the 458.
